Hey lovelies! I’m excited to share with you my new album ‘Wanting You Now’, produced by my buddy Kevin aka Sellorekt LA / Dreams.

This time around we packed in 8 tracks, each a little different and, each with a theme of the night; not how it was planned but it’s funny how things work out sometimes. As usual, when Kevin and I start on a project we tend to just let it develop into what it wants to be. We started with a series of songs and whittled it down to the final 8 on the album. Let me give you a brief rundown on the songs.

  1. Love Take Over – this song was the first track I recorded in 2025 but, is one of the last to be shared with you all. As soon as I heard the instrumental I knew it had to be on the album. High energy, retro and fun and, a track that pretty much wrote itself! Often when Kevin sends me music I try to write to the title theme he has already provided (it doesn’t always work that way) but, this is one of those times when I stuck to his title narrative. I imagined meeting someone and instantly falling head over heels for them. Images of 80s movies where the good girl falls for the bag guy came to mind from the driving synths and punchy drums that Kevin provided!
  2. Wanting You Now – to date, this is the sexiest song I have written! To put it simply this is one for the frisky house wife who sends a message to her man to let him know what’s going to happen when he returns home! Interestingly enough, I recorded my vocals over a totally different instrumental. The original piece was gritty and raw and brought out a primal side of my lyrics and vocal performance. When I sent Kevin my vocals he later changed the instrumental into what you hear now. I love both versions to be honest but, the final one just tips it over the edge if you ask me!
  3. Dream Away – this is one we have held on to for a while! Fun fact, this song is one of the first songs I had originally written for the ‘Hear I Am’ album. As the album was packed out with 17 songs, we thought it best to hold this one for a future release as it needed to stand out. Not often do we do a big piano pop ballad and this one is extra special as Kevin has reached out to some friends from the LA Philharmonic who played some live strings and other instruments to make it even more special. I tell the story of a woman overtaken by grief who lives for the night as she can see her late love again in her dreams.
  4. On The Streets – another track with a gritty night time edge. Also, another one pre-titled by Kevin. The music gave me images of the rough urban city life that we see here in London and in other parts of the world. So many documentaries and stories have been shared about people who live life on the edge through gang life and in the underworld. I wanted to tell the story from the perspective of a fictional character, an elder person who had lived through the harshness of it all and was warning the younger generation to make something of themselves and live life on the straight and narrow.
  5. Street Moves – We all know what it feels like to have a free night available without work in the morning! I don’t do it much these days but, there have been many fun nights where i’ve put my best outfits on, hit the clubs with friends and partied until the sun came up. This song touches on how London night life used to feel!
  6. Let’s Escape – Many people know the experience of not getting enough alone term with your significant other. ‘Let’s escape’ speaks to wanting to snatch a moment with your other half away from work, the kids, the day to day grind and trying to keep that fire burning in the relationship.
  7. Stand My Ground – This is one of the songs where I’m leaving the lyrics open to interpretation for the listener. Another track titled by Kevin that brought an interesting story out of me. If you really want to know more on this one drop me a message!
  8. Deja Vu – probably the most different of all the songs on the album. The trippy pads and synth lines and purposeful distortion brings a level of intensity out in me. Knowing how much of a Michael Jackson fan I am, Kevin thought it would be cool to dive into a distorted soundscape kind of like Michael’s track 2000 Watts. My story is about a woman who has spotted her friend’s husband in public with another woman! Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time she’s been witness to his adultery, a total “Deja Vu” experience! She just needs to know if she’s going to expose him!

This album is very different to the previous works we’ve done together and the creative experience was also a bit different to usual. I like how fresh the sound is though. I feel like the subject matter is in a mature arena with a dark edge! I hope you like it!

Mayah x
