Emotions – The Remixes
Last September Kevin (Sellorekt LA Dreams) and I dropped our first album together, ‘Emotions’. We took a deep dive head first into many of the flavours from the 80s that we all love. We ventured through New Jack Swing, Retro Soul, Synth Pop and touched on some rockier dance vibes.
The album for me was super special as I wanted to drop a record full of sounds from my childhood but with my twist and slant on things. My aim was to write some motivational joints like ‘Under Pressure’, ‘Action’ and ‘Keep Going’. I tend to be a glass half full sort of person and if I can use that in a positive way I will. What’s really touching is that many people have contacted me to let me know that these are songs that have been helpful for them.
I did get a little emotional on some songs like ‘Photograph’ and ‘The Rain’, both were inspired by the soundscape created by Kevin and stories I had heard regarding people missing lost loves.

‘That’s How I Knew’, is one of my more personal songs as I wrote it about falling in love with my husband. It turned out to be a favourite of many which is pretty special for me. In keeping with upbeat pop vibes we also had ‘Could I Be The One’ and ‘Nobody Like You’.
With ‘Cancelled’, I wanted to speak to the current cancel culture we are seeing online and in the wider media. Many feel as though they are having to tread on eggshells with what they do and say. Although it is advised that we move with caution it can sometimes feel like a challenge! This is one of the songs you can really move to. That being said we still have some tracks to throw some shapes to like the love song with a New Jack Swing backdrop ‘Heartbeat Rhythm’. Think Bobby Brown vibes with that Sellorekt/Mayah twist!
‘Patience’ is one that is more about the day to day grind and wanting things to improve. Waiting on God, your perfect opportunity or whatever it is that gets you through the situation.
After a few months Emotions has been rebooted and now features 5 hot remixes all by my awesome buddy Kevin available now on Bandcamp and your favourite streaming platform!
