It’s All In The LBD!

There are many terms and phrases that are applied to the clothes that we wear and many of them are amazing at describing a particular garment or style. I have my very own fashion phrase, I often refer to wearing a power colour. For me there are 3 power colours that I always enjoy wearing, can easily and comfortably style and know that whatever my makeup or hair style I can rock! These would have to be red, blue and of course black! Black is that staple colour that everyone has in their wardrobes. Some people rely on this shade for their signature look and work it into all of their outfits, others like to use it as a statement choice or for a more sophisticated finish. I used to pretty much live in black and it’s not hard to see why, every other colour works with it, any season appreciates it and everyone knows how to rock it!

All women are pretty much told that it is essential to own at least one black dress that can work for all occasions and situations. I have to be honest whilst I have many black dresses I have only recently gotten one that works for any occasion and it would have to be this amazing midi dress from Zizzi. This is a brand I have loved since I was first introduced to their fresh and fun style and, I have to say everything I have worn of theirs I have felt amazing in! This dress in particular is from a previous collection of theirs. I should note that they have some fab options similar to this available from many online and in store outlets in Europe. We Brits are fortunate to be able to get some of their hot items from UK outlet Navabi.

I can’t quite say I have a particular style of dress that I favour but I do tend to gravitate towards dresses that are midi length with 3/4 sleeves. I guess it’s because I know what shoes I would pair with them or what jacket lol. What I loved about this dress when I first saw it was how simple it is in it’s style whilst still having some small but very striking features. I really love the split at the front with the asymmetrical cut and the broach detail at the waist for a little added bling. The gathering is really flattering and also can help on those days when you just don’t want to wear any shapewear. I like the scoop neck detail and long sleeves with baggy upper arms. This is a dress that nips and hugs all the right places and flows across the curves beautifully.

You all know how I am when it comes to colours, coordination is key in my look and lucky for me having black hair makes things easy at times. I decided when styling this one I would keep things simple. My Vanity ankle boots from Hotter were a must for height and comfort. I wanted a boot that was simple with a little added flair and the gold zipper detail was perfect for my choice of accessories. In keeping with the gold of the boots I wore a supper long, skinny gold necklace. I’ll be honest I couldn’t find my gold hoop earrings anywhere and so my silver ones were worn. It worked out well though because my black, gold and silver bangle came in handy and my sequin clutch was the perfect bag to pull it all together. I just so happened to be wearing silver chrome nail polish too lol. My look was simple staple colours and tones but it all tied in together well. This dress is fast becoming one of my favourites to wear, I have worn it to work, out with friends for dinners and as somewhat of a modest party dress.

When I took these pics I was in a pretty good mood. You know when you’re having a day when you like how your make up came out and you think your hair is pretty much on fleek? I always wear a rich red lip when i’m wearing a fully black outfit. I find the small but sharp pop of colour adds a little extra something to the look. I also love how the contrast between my hair and the outfit combined with the red lipstick makes my teeth look so bright and white.

Confidence is the most important accessory you can bring to any look. I always find that if you feel good in what your wearing you tend to feel better during the day. You feel ready for whatever task is at hand, can walk with pride and get the job done! A Little black dress may be an essential element to the wardrobe of every woman, but it has to be something that makes you feel a million dollars when wearing it! I have to say I have a lot of fun wearing this dress and find that I get a little extra spring in my step as I feel so amazing wearing it!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Paint Pots And Dolores Dolls – A Collectif Review

There isn’t a woman out there who hasn’t seen a dress that she just HAS to have! Admittedly I see gorgeous clothes all the time but it’s not so often that I literally find myself searching the globe for a dress! When I first saw the gorgeous Paint Pot Dolores doll dress from Collectif I could see myself wearing it. I knew exactly how I would style it, exactly where I would wear it and exactly how great I would feel in it! Now anyone who knows me knows that when it comes to vintage swing dresses I’m a little crazy! I have more in my closest than I can literally store, in a series of bright and bold colours and prints and even though some have similarities, they all have a little something special about them.

My ultimate vintage cut is the Dolores Doll from Collectif. I have loads of them now and I don’t plan to stop buying them anytime soon! I say this a lot, when something works for me I stick with it! I’m the girl who would and has bought the same dress upwards of 10 times, simply because the colour is different or there is a slight design tweak. The Dolores Doll for me is the perfect length for my 5’5 frame, the cap sleeves are extremely comfortable and are perfect for covering up the bra straps. I find that these dresses lift and shape my bust in a way that gives the ultimate cleavage and they are just the right cut and shape for an extremely sexy yet modest look.

When I was sent the lookbook for a recent collection by Collectif I was instantly taken by the amazing new lines all in paint pot print! I instantly knew I wanted the girly pink and blue version of the dress. I love wearing all shades of blue as you know and pink is a colour that whilst I enjoy it, I like to pair it with many tones and shades. This dress took a lot of the work out of putting the colours together and for me needs very little with it! Unfortunately for me this dress sold out so fast I was unable to get my hands on one! I literally mean the dress was sold out in size 20 within a matter of days! The spaghetti strap version, the Janie was also totally unavailable! I was crushed. I made it a personal mission a few years ago to treat myself every summer to an incredible vintage dress and the only one I set my sights on was the Dolores Paint Pot dress!

As you can imagine a keen few women out there beat me to the punch as well as some wholesale companies who source some of their vintage goodies from the brand. I scoured the internet hoping for an opportunity to buy a second hand version but of course no one wanted to give up this one! My search led me to a dutch based vintage company Succubus where I snapped up one of the last in my size, spending money I didn’t have at the time and not even caring about the cost lol. As soon as I paid I had my eyes on the tracking website and post every day that followed, lucky for me I got this vintage treasure in record time!

Hanna and I had decided to spend an afternoon in Highgate, the weather was great, sun was shinning and I was in the perfect mood to wear a girly dress! I decided to pair this one with my white Sam’s petticoat from Vivien Of Holloway, Michelle shoes from Hotter and the main outfit was pulled together. In keeping with the idea of white additions I pulled my new denim jacket from Zizzi, recently gifted to me by one of their UK stockist, Navabi. I’m wearing this in a size 22. My new square buckle stretch belt from Lane Bryant was a must with this look. One of my many bandanas, this time in baby pink, my hoop earrings of course and I was set.

I have to say I’m so happy to finally have this dress. I love everything about it and I have to say, this is another one I just have to twirl in!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Beautiful Blossoms

I can’t help but feel cheery when the sun in shinning. I am a pure summer baby in every sense, not just because my birthday is the middle of July but because I love all things summer! I love the heat and enjoy almost everything about a summer day. The bright and gorgeous weather, beautiful plants and flowers, butterflies, the extra long days and the shorter nights. One thing I enjoy in particular is playing around with my summer wardrobe. I think what I love about summer fashion is the varying ways that we can express ourselves. Some like to show a lot of skin and catch a tan, others like bright and fun pastel colours and some like myself enjoy switching things up. I love a bright and fun outfit but I also like black floaty maxi dresses this time of year. I find that they make for amazing transitional outfits. You could possibly wear one to work and then head out at the end of the day for a nice meal or drinks with friends.

I really enjoy wearing chiffon dresses. I find that the light and airy material makes for an elegant dress which can be worn during the day and night but the good news is that they feel comfortable in quite hot and humid weather. This dress I’m wearing is from one of my favourite Scandinavian brands Zizzi. This dress is from a previous collection and is a little big for me as I have recently lost some weight. However I love it that much that I really don’t care lol. I’m wearing this dress is a size XL. I really like the white binding across the bust, arms and hem. I think the slight addition makes for a nice monochrome feel.

As the dress is quite long I wanted to wear a slight heel so that I didn’t keep stepping on the hem. I of course opted for my black Michelle Heels from Hotter, my go-to pair of black heels at the moment. Unfortunately we haven’t been blessed with many hot and sunny days in London this year. It’s starting to look as though things are heating up weather-wise which is great for me because I can’t get enough of it! Hopefully i’ll get to go somewhere exotic and beautiful at some point this year but for now i’m going to make the most of the sunshine we get here.

It’s been an interesting few weeks that have passed by for me. I’ve witnessed some of my friends having babies, getting engaged etc. others have been going through some more painful changes and I’ve been going through changes both personally and professionally. Seeing the spring flowers popping up and the blossoms on the trees for me is not only a sign of this gorgeous summer starting but of many positive and pleasant changes. I’m gonna enjoy the wind in my hair, sun on my skin and whatever comes along! Change is exciting and brings with it many amazing things!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Girly Girl

There are some things that all women have in common regardless of what their background or personal style is. We have all found ourselves sifting through everything that we own in our wardrobes unsure of what to wear, and we have all woken up with a random need to feel somewhat girly. Now girly for some would be dressing in bright pink with their hair in pigtails and cute makeup. For others it might be wearing a set of lingerie that makes them feel that extra bit feminine. In my case when I feel the need to be girly one thing comes to mind. What sort of skirt am I gonna wear and how big do I want it? I tend to gravitate towards sexy bodycon dresses, vintage swing dresses or tulle skirts.

The sun was shinning bright and strong the other day in London and I knew that I wanted to wear my navy tutu skirt but I had no idea what I should pair with it. The last time I had worn this skirt the weather was a lot cooler and I was able to pair it with a sweater and some nude heels. This time around I wanted to be bright in the summer sunshine but I also wanted a look that would transition well into an evening look. The plan was set I was going to go bare legged and pair the skirt with a cute t-shirt. Now I should note that this particular skirt was from Asos a while back and from their standard range. From what I have seen they no longer stock this one but they do have some similar options here. Last summer Scandinavian brand Zizzi released their summer collection, Wardrobe of wonders. They had some amazing items including some cute school girl inspired items, check out my previous review here. In the collection they had a really cool digital print line featuring midi skirt and crop top tee. I was lucky enough to get the skirt and borrowed the top a few times from Hanna. The good news is that both the top and skirt are still available from uk outlet Navabi.

What I love about plus size fashions now is that there is something for every kind of curvy woman out there. Should you choose urban street styles, vintage classics, current casuals or smart sophisticated evening wear there is something for everyone. I have said many times I like to dress to my mood which I why I like to carry a wide range of clothes in my wardrobe so that I can be ready to attend whatever event or occasion in appropriate items. My personal trick to save space and money is to buy clothes that can be worn in more than one way preferably for a casual and smart look. Of course I have some items that are exclusive to specific occasions but this is why when I pick my separates such as skirts and tops, I tend to go for colours I can easily incorporate into my style. Anyone who knows me personally will know that I try to colour coordinate almost everything I wear. This is something that was ingrained into me as a child and a particular style trait I still practice.

I thought I would wear my pleather biker jacket for additional coverage and to offset the black heels I chose. I opted for my number 1 go to heels my pairs of Michelle shoes from Hotter. A simple black clutch was required, my signature hoop earrings and a pop of red! I chose my new favourite lipgloss, Forgive My Sin from L’Oreal Paris. I tend to keep my makeup the same with pinup style winged eye liner, mascara, my brows of course and a touch of foundation. I play around mostly with my lip colour but it tends to be reds and pinks I gravitate towards the most. Specifically deep reds. I love how they look against my complexion and I find that my teeth looks miles whiter when I wear red which is always a bonus lol.

Every now and again it’s fun to dress up in a way that makes you feel fun, feminine and bright. Sometimes you just have to do what makes you feel good and be mindful that you may draw some attention to yourself which is always good if you’re feeling confident! Have fun with your look and if you haven’t already ladies, try out a tutu or tulle skirt! They are a lot of fun to wear and can make for some great outfits!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Back To Black

There has been a lot of changes for me recently. The past few months has seen me go through many things such as changes and new developments in my work life, enjoying spending more time with friends and taking some much need Mayah time. Things have been quite stressful on a personal front and I recently experienced a really horrible stomach illness. As a result of all this I have decided to roll with the punches and make some adjustments to all areas of my life and of course this includes my look!

As I previously mentioned I had been suffering from a really uncomfortable and difficult to detect illness called Helicobacter pylori. To cut things short I was experiencing severe stomach cramps every time I ate anything. The pain was unbearable and could leave me in pain for hours at a time. Around 1 in 10 people suffer from this and if left untreated, you can be left with stomach ulcers. After a lot of tests and doctors appointments I finally got to the bottom of the situation and began treatment. Throughout all of this I have lost quite a bit of weight and have dropped just over a dress size. Now I love my clothes and although the slight weight loss is of course good for me health wise I’ve had some minor challenges when putting my looks together.

After one of our afternoon mate dates Hanna and I decided to take some blog pictures for each other, and so Hanna as always began to put her style genius to work and pull some clothes for me to wear. I was already wearing my ripped skinny jeans from Evans (size 24) and so Hanna thought a white tank top would go to creating an edgy casual look. It’s no secret that I enjoy wearing a variety of different styles and I tend to dress according to my mood. This look gave me a fitted yet comfortable look. I have to say I love these jeans and they have fast become a staple in my wardrobe. They are also available in white, i’ll be sure to pick up a pair of those very soon!

We thought it would be fun to pair the jeans with a plan white tank top. I’m usually the girl who wears shapewear or spanx to smooth the appearance of my belly but every now and again I decide against it and just “let it all hang out” as they say. There has been a trend for the past few years for women to embrace their VBL and in my case I do so depending on the look I want to achieve. As there is still a slight chill in the air I decided to pull on my oversized stripped shirt with pull strings from Zizzi. Unfortunately this shirt is no longer available as it comes from a previous collection but be sure to check out their website to see what new looks are available.

I have developed a really strong appreciation of this brand, the quality and style of their clothes is just perfect for me. When I think casual sexy I tend to gravitate towards Scandinavian clothing brands like Zizzi, Junarose and Carmakoma. These brands have a wide selection of plus size threads to suit women with a slight edge and quirkiness to their style. You’ll see some upcoming posts featuring these brands and there have been a few previous ones if you decide to check out some of my old posts.

I say it a lot and my previous outfit posts will showcase how much I love wearing beret style hats. I have many in several colours and as I was already wearing my black one when I arrived at Hanna’s I thought it best to leave it on for this look as I was experiencing some very dodgy hat hair underneath lol. Hanna let me borrow he platform chunky heels to finish off the look and we accessorised the outfit with a really cute leather backpack, very 90s.

Needless to say I had a lot of fun with this look and enjoyed the feel I had when wearing it. I felt very Stacy Dash in Clueless with this look and thought that a sharp pop of red lipstick would just set things off. I find that a lot of people tend to dress very sophisticatedly when wearing black and white clothes. It’s really easy to keep it simple and just add slight twists to the look to get the overall look you want. Have fun with what you have in your wardrobe and try playing around with casual and dressy items, the combination can make for a really sassy look!

Spring Time Fun With Zizzi And Yours

Finally after months of wet and cold weather we are starting to see some much wanted sunshine. With the change in the seasons we are starting to see people showing a little more skin and wearing the clothes that look great among the blossoming flowers and sunny days. I’m currently in a very casual mood these days and it’s only now that I’m wanting to dress up a little more. Last weekend we had some really nice weather and a lot of people were out and about in t-shirts, shorts, skirts and the other items we associate with summer.

I decided that I would follow suit but still keep in mind the elements of spring and then when those clouds are around there can be a slight chill in the air. At the moment I’m really into dark and stone coloured tones with a splash of colour somewhere. For this look I wanted to keep it simple, fun and casual. This striped knit pencil skirt from Zizzi is really comfortable and warm to wear. I love the length and the print makes this one that can be worn across any season. The ruffled detail in the hem adds a little extra flair to the overall look and helps the skirt to cling to your frame without hitching. This one is currently available at Navabi.

One of the great things about living where I live is having a close friend and fellow blogger within walking distance. Hanna and I take each other’s outfit pictures all the time and she let me borrow her slogan t-shirt from Zizzi. This one came out last year, what I love about it is the message on it. ‘There is no wrong way to be a woman’, this quote from the gorgeous and stunning Denise Bidot really speaks to me, and I’m sure other women out there will feel the same. We are constantly being told what to look like, what we should say about certain things, what we should think etc. sometimes it feels like we women have been set an impossible set of standards to which we are supposed to follow. The sad thing is that we have become our own worst critics and more often than not we forget that there is no rule book about how to be a woman, we just are women in every sense.

I like my t-shirts to be a little form fitting so that they don’t look tent-like against my frame. I tied a small knot in the bottom corner with the help of Hanna and the look I was after was quickly achieved. Check out how Hanna styled it previously here. I wanted to wear some wedge shoes and so these platform wedge sandals from Yours Clothing were a must. The silver heel embellishment really works against the silver in the clothes and on top of everything else, these are so comfortable! My long length cardigan has been a god send lately. I love how such a simple basic item can work with so many different styles of outfit!

For accessories I only wanted a few so my hoop earrings and black bandana were my only additions to the outfit. Sometimes you just want to get up and go, no muss no fuss. I often dress for comfort with a little added style. Even when wearing simple styles I still like to feel somewhat put together for a little extra confidence. I find that when I look a certain way it can affect my mood.

If like me you want to dress for the change in the season but want to feel prepared for that sudden chill that can hit the air then there are some fun things you can do. Wear the style of item you want but maybe select a thicker fabric, layer up with a cardigan or a jacket, something you can remove if you feel warm that can still tie into the look when the evening approaches. Have fun and play with your look!

360° Denim Dream! A Fashion World Review

When it comes to clothes there are some items that we ALL have in our closets, undergarments, t-shirts, sweats and a great pair of jeans! I am a huge lover of jeans and have been since the day I got my first bootcut pair as a teenager. I will be honest though even though I love wearing denim styled trousers, trying to find a pair that looks good, feels good and looks like a key part of the outfit rather than just a boring pair of jeans is not easy!

It’s known that we women all come in varying shapes, sizes and ages. I’m not exactly in love with the idea of referring to myself as a shape but we women often have to think about what shape we are close to when buying clothes. I would say that I am in-between an hour glass and a pear shaped figure. On top of this I am a plus size woman which means I have to account for a couple of additional lumps and bumps when trying to look good. In my case I’m 5 feet and 5 inches tall, and I tend to buy jeans with a 31 inch leg. The size changes depending on the brand I am buying from and often the colour of the jeans can come into play here. Not long ago I discovered that black dye in clothes can cause an item to fit a little smaller than with lighter colours.

I was recently contacted by Fashion World and was offered the chance to try out a pair of jeans from their new 360° Fit Jeans collection. Always on the hunt for a good pair of jeans I of course accepted and was sent a pair of the Slim Fit Long Jeans in size 26 Indigo colour. Previously with Jeans from the JD Williams brands I have had to go for a size 28. I tend to wear a size 24/26 in trousers and jeans but theirs usually come up a little smaller than with some other brands. I thought I would try a 26, seeing that I have recently lost a little weight and I wanted these to have a fitted look.

I have to say I was really impressed with these jeans. They fit me like a glove with plenty of room in the behind and across the stomach. I really like the length of them and feel that they would look amazing with heels, wedges, boots or flats as the hem stops just below my ankle. For me an added bonus with these jeans is how soft they feel against the skin. Often jeans can feel stiff, rigid and a little rough sometimes. 70% cotton, 24% polyester, 4% viscose and 2% elastane fabric these jeans are really comfortable to wear. Really smooth to the touch, and they have that softness that you get when you have washed your favourite pair of jeans a few times and the fibres soften. When sitting in these they also have that little bit of added stretch you hope for, especially if you have just eaten or something.

I like to keep things casual a lot of the time and with this outfit I thought I would go for cold colours. The jeans being a deep shade of indigo made me want to add hints of grey to the rest of the outfit. I pulled out an old grey blazer from New Look Inspire size 22. I wanted a smart casual look so with this I went for a black #celfie t-shirt from Yours Clothing size 26/28 I love loose fitting t-shirts that compliment a series of outfits and this one is simple but fun. Usually I like for my tees to be a size lower but every now and again a larger size is the preference if I want additional boob room.

You all know that I like to match my accessories to my overall look and so this tote bag from the new W.O.W (Wardrobe Of Wonders) collection from Zizzi was a must! In keeping with the black my Hotter boots were my chosen footwear and my black beret was my hat of choice. Silver hoop earrings, my heart charm bracelet and floral statement necklace were my jewellery choices.

I’m believer that keeping things simple doesn’t have to mean being boring. When it comes to basic looks I like to add a few personal touches of my sense of style. For me when I feel a little more put together I walk with a little more confidence. No one likes that feeling of having to rush and not quite feeling as though you look your best. I find that sticking to the colours of my clothes makes selecting additional items and accessories easier.

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

All I Have To Say Is W.O.W! – A Zizzi Fashion Review!

What can I say except WOW! Not often do I see a clothing collection and fall in love with it at first glance! When Hanna came back from a trip home to Finland she had many fun and interesting stories to tell me but in addition to that she also had some gorgeous look books from her trip that she thought I’d like to see. Danish brand Zizzi have a collection that is fun, fresh, sexy and a little different. They call it W.O.W (Wardrobe Of Wonders). I have to say I think the name of the collection is the perfect title for such a gorgeous group of clothes and accessories.

I first discovered Zizzi last year and I have to say they have fast become one of my favourite brands! The quality in their clothes is second to none, the style always hot and they definitely bring something different to the table style wise. When I first laid eyes on this Navy jumper and kilt set I knew I HAD to get my hands on the outfit! Keeping a close eye on the release date for the collection in anticipation, Hanna let me try on one of her outfits that she had been given by the brand to review before the release.

What I loved about this particular outfit is the way it embodies so many different style genres. I see hints of the 1950s in the shape and length of the kilt, the jumper gives off a fun and youthful vibe that would be suited to the 80s and 90s fashions. The richness in the navy and gold tones give off a regal feel that is really high fashion and the styles mixed together present something really fun and modern. This particular outfit is available in a series of colours from baby pink, baby blue, navy and black and white box grid print. I’m wearing a size L jumper and an XL skirt. I had planned to purchase this outfit on Navabi when the collection was released at the end of last month but unfortunately these items are not available on the website. Navabi is the only online outlet that sells Zizzi clothes to the UK. I had planned to get the top in an XL and the skirt in an L for a slightly better fit.

The Jumper is a really stretchy and thick fabric that feels silky smooth to the touch. I really like the length of this one as it perfectly sits in the right place for a skirt to be worn with it. The kilt is a warm and thick material that would make this easy to wear towards the end of winter and would be a comfortable selection for the spring and summer.

This outfit for me is really adaptable for a fun and playful look or a more casual chic feel. I really like the school uniform feel of this look. The deep navy tones and the rich gold allow for fun and playful accessories. I decided that I would wear a shiny black hair scarf to compliment the sheen in the jumper and a gold scrunchie in my hair to tie everything in. I completed this look with a simple pair of open toe nude heels and a clear perspex clutch with gold clasp.

Despite not being able to buy this outfit I was so excited to learn that I was the lucky winner of a Zizzi Instagram competition. All that was required was for entrants to post what size they would like to wear the jumper with a matching blue tube skirt and a winner would be selected at random. Like most things you never expect to be the person who wins the prize but I have to say this really made my day! I have loved this collection since first viewing the look books and I can 100% see why they called it W.O.W.

The gorgeous Hanna has styled this outfit in another post check it out here. Check out her review of the digital print outfit here too. When Hanna, Lucie and I met up for a bloggers day of fashion and fun we just knew that Lucie would look gorgeous in the digital print outfit, she even had the perfect hair to match. Check out her review here.

To see the entire W.O.W collection check out the official Zizzi website here. To buy selected items from the W.O.W collection check out the Navabi site who also stock other items from different Zizzi collections. For all Zizzi updates follow their Facebook page.

Monochrome Mixup!

Sometimes you just feel like mixing things up a little. In my case I tend to dress according to my mood, the usual tact I take is dress in a way to compliment my mood or in an effort to change it. When it’s a hot summer day I like to wear bright and fun colours that make me feel summery and ready for anything. In the winter although I dress in accordance to the weather, my mission there is to add some much needed colour to the dreary season.
Just a few days ago Hanna, Isha and I went to the George Asda press day which took place at Somerset House to see what spring and summer delights they had to offer. That morning before heading out to meet the girls, I took a look out the window and decided that I would be wearing an outfit that was head to toe black and white. When I play around with monochrome styles the look tends to be a causal one. I figured that as I was heading to a fashion press day I would put my spin on things and play around with varying patterns and prints all in black and white.

The girls and I had a fun filled afternoon and we got to see some great new lines coming from George. Fun and fresh beach looks, sophisticated and fun outfits for the evening, cute looks for summer days and some amazing items for the home. Stay tuned for some future posts from me featuring some of the current lines available.

Working my way from top to bottom I decided to pull out a black and white bandana for my hair, those of you who know my style will know that hair scarves, bandanas and hats are very prominent in my personal style. I like to use them as a way of pulling an outfit together and more often than not they come in handy when taking care of a bad hair day! Paisley prints are something I go crazy for just as much as houndstooth and polka dots so this was an easy choice for me.

The main outfit for me was going to be some items that are from previous collections by Zizzi. What with London Fashion Week just behind us and the fashion brands all out in force promoting their High Summer ranges the slogan ‘Sport VS Fashion’ seemed to fit perfectly for a casual sports luxe sort of look. I’m wearing the oversized t-shirt dress in size XL. Paired with black leggings that come complete with a white panel across the legs, size XL. I couldn’t go wrong with the look I wanted to achieve.

To finish off the look I of course opted for my Biker Jacket from Yours Clothing, size 24. This jacket has become one of my many go-to items as it works with a large variety of styles. My dogtooth trim shoe boots from Evans were a must as I was mixing patterns and prints. For accessories I wore my houndstooth satchel, black steel diamonte chaps bracelet and chocker.

For me when it comes to style it’s subjective. Wear the clothes that make you feel incredible and have fun with how you style them! I love experimenting with my look I find it’s a really fun and changeable way of expressing myself and the great thing about it is that many other people will inspire you along the way. I see women walking down the street every day in the cutest outfits and I’m always attracted to the fine details in the outfit. I pay attention to colour combinations, accessories and makeup.

Sometimes the simple items can be really brought to life by the small things you do in your outfit. Match your lipstick colour to something in your look maybe a colour on a top, your bag etc. Find accessories to either compliment an outfit or bring a new dimension to it.

Zizzi clothes can be found at Navabi, these items may not be available but there are some really cool looks that you can pick up, check out their link here.

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Winter Warmers With A Twist!

It’s official the weather has changed! For some the sight of clouds in the sky and the constant stream of umbrellas floating by is extremely depressing. I’ll be totally honest here I am no fan of cold weather; short of having an excuse to indulge in warm hot chocolate and marshmallows it’s most definitely not my thing!

I always find that it’s hard to wear clothes that are practical and fun this time of the year. In the summer we have the luxury of cute separates, bold colours and fun and fresh prints. In the autumn and winter we are showered in a sea of blacks, greys and blues. Now I have no problem with that as I have a huge selection of black, grey and blue clothes in my wardrobe. The challenge for me is wearing items that have a twist and have some character to them. I tend to go for cute dresses and simple coats, vintage inspired dressed and petticoats and of course warm sweaters.

Myself and the lovely Hanna decided to go for a walk in the park the other day and seeing as the weather was quite warm and to our luck dry, I was able to be quite playful with my look.

To my luck I was given this animal print sweater from Zizzi. The sample item will hopefully be in their next collection. I got this in a size M and whilst I love the shape and fit it clings a little to my tummy area. With that in mind I simply had to wear it so I thought I would be creative and wear this leather midi skirt from SimplyBe with it (size 26). Those of you who are familiar with my blog will know that I often wear skirts just under my bust line. My reason for this is the fact that my behind rises a little and if I wear some skirts at the waist line (depending on the cut) they can shift up at the back. It has come to my attention that this is an issue many women face and I simply won’t allow it to cause problems for me when selecting my outfits. In some cases this has actually helped me when it comes to wearing cropped tops or pieces that sit a little snug around the belly.

Feeling comfortable and confident in my clothes is a must for me and that can sometimes be down to the fit, sometimes down to the style of the outfit. I absolutely love animal prints when it comes to clothes and accessories and I have recently been adding more items into my closet, I’ll be sure to put together some posts with these items to show you all very soon. The woollen sweater from Zizzi is really light on the skin and it fits really nicely. The black and grey print make this an item that would work with most bottoms such as jeans, high waisted trousers and of course other cuts of skirt. The colours being neutral make this one easy to pair with other separates and jackets also.

It’s always nice when you see a cute dog in the park.

When you’re used to wearing trousers or jeans on a regular basis the convenience of having pockets is a nice and familiar thing, somewhere to have your phone, wallet etc. One of the things I really like about this skirt is the pocket detail on both sides of the skirt. When you don’t want to carry a bag with you or you’re simply popping out for a few minutes it can be a nice relief to have something to store those smaller items. This skirt is not only a warm and adaptable item it’s a practical one too. The central split in the front gives it a nice shape and a little character and I found that it made the item look more flattering on my frame. Unfortunately this is from a previous collection but there may be something similar available online and in a local Simplybe branch.

I decided that the only accessory I would wear with this outfit would be my favoured hoop earrings. Sometimes you really don’t want to have much jewellery on at all and in my case I didn’t want any additions to my look so I simply painted my nails for a little colour and slipped on some comfortable plimsolls shoes. The saying can be true, less can be more sometimes.

Have a look in your wardrobe and see what you have that you can play around with, we may be lucky enough to have a few more nice days before the scarves and gloves are required!

Remember what ever you where, feel fabulous in it and where it with a smile!
