Who Said Grey Had To Be Dull?

It’s a few days into January so let me wish you all a big Happy New Year. Even though everyone is back to work and the weather is still awful it’s not all doom and gloom. Even though the mood may feel grey that doesn’t mean grey fashion items have to be dull or boring. I’m really not a fan of the cold, in fact I can’t stand it. Maybe it’s because I was born in the middle of July, or perhaps because people aren’t as cheery this time of year. Either way I try to find fun ways to fight the chill in the air.

When In The Style Curve recently released this sweater dress I knew I wanted to get my hands on it. It looked so warm and cosy in their stock photos. It’s not often that I have found a roll neck (or turtle neck to some people) sweater where the neck is fully covered and the folds stay in place. I absolutely love the fit of this one. I should note though this is a very short one if you want to wear it as a dress. It does have a true to size fit though. I’m wearing this one in size 22-24.

I thought it would be fun to continue with wearing metallics and so I paired this top with my mini skirt from Simply Be (To read my review on this item check out this post). This gave me the little extra length that I like and was a fun way to create an outfit. I rolled the hem of the top upwards slightly to really emphasise the baggy oversized look. To finish things off I added a simple pair of fish net tights from Asos Curve and slipped on my heeled Chelsea boots.

I love that some items that are meant to be pretty casual can really get some added sass by the way they are accessorised. If like me you’re all about colour coordination this should be easy for you. Working with a colour pallet can simplify the decision making process when it comes to putting an outfit together. As Pink goes so well with grey I decided to wear some pink lippy with this one. Even when wearing block colours a little touch of something different can make all the difference.

As it stands I believe the grey version of this sweater dress may be out of stock but it does come in a lush stone colour so be sure to pick one up while stocks last! I can assure you it is as warm as it looks! This would work really well with leggings, jeans and many other items. And for those of you who are daring enough as a single item! Tell me what key items are you wearing to battle the cold this season?
