High Waisted Swimming Knickers – An Elomi Review

It seems that even though the weather has changed and the coats and scarves are coming back out, we are still very much talking about swimwear. With every summer that passes fashion critics and consumers all over the world are talking about what makes suitable swim attire. I would think opinions on this matter would vary depending on who you are in conversation with.

I have seen loads of posts and articles about one piece items, bikinis, tankinis etc all featuring a plethora of different styles and brands, celebrity collections and blogger favourites. A little over a year ago I first heard of lingerie and swimwear brand Elomi. The brand specialising in garments for a fuller figure have a series of gorgeous and simple styles and I have to say when I recently tried out their high waisted swim knickers I was beyond impressed.

Many people buy swimsuits so that they can look super cute on the beach whilst catching some rays. I personally like items that are cute to look at but are practical for me. I really enjoy swimming and when I get near the sea I love take a leisurely dip and really go for it! First and foremost I want to feel comfortable and relaxed when I have a lot of skin on show. As a very busty woman I like to feel supported, lifted and secured in my swimsuit especially as water can make a garment feel heavy and loose. I also like something that is tight and firm against my stomach.

When I first tried out these high waisted knickers I was amazed by the comfort, flexibility and support. They came just under my bra line, and held me in nicely. Some of my looser, wobbly bits were smoothed out and I really liked the overall look and appearance of the garment. I must state that I have a lot of high waisted spanx and control underwear that I like to wear with more form fitting items especially dresses. As much as I enjoy wearing these I have to say I was shocked to find that these swim knickers gave me a better overall shape and support than most of my shapewear and they actually feel amazing on, even when wet!

I was worried that I would have a little slippage in the back and stomach areas once the garment was wet which would inevitable reveal my back-fat but in truth I NEVER had this issue and felt amazing on the beach when I went away earlier this year.

For those of you who are wanting to try a fatkini but would consider wearing a bikini top and matching swim knickers these are amazing and I cannot rate them more highly. You can pick these up via the official Elomi website or of course you can check out some other online retailers. I picked my pair up at Brastop for an amazing price so do check them out if you have a holiday coming up or you like to go to your local swimming baths.

Remember what ever you where, feel fabulous in it and where it with a smile!

A Curvy Kate Review – Jetset Swim Range

*These Items Were Gifted To Me For Review

It’s been years since I have ventured out into the water to swim. I absolutely love swimming but due to hair care maintenance (something any woman with Afro/Caribbean hair will understand) and the lack of good and supportive swimwear available, I was deterred from taking a dip into the deeper waters.

With a holiday to Greece on the calendar and the general desire to improve my exercise regime I thought it was an idea to start my search and see what I could pick up in the swimwear department. I was looking for something with a sleek and flattering style that would feel comfortable and support my 38K bust. I decided that as a regular customer and huge fan of the brand, I would message the girls at Curvy Kate and see what they might recommend. I was looking for something that would support and lift my bust and give me the appearance I was hoping for whilst lounging on the beach.

At first I toyed with getting a tankini and some bottoms. When I swim I like to feel free to just do my thing with a strong confidence and not be hindered from having a good time. Initially I was looking for something bright and bold and my eyes were firmly on their Seashell set. I then decided I wanted to settle for something with a more classic style and so I selected the Jetset.

As the different style and shapes of the Curvy Kate range can vary I thought it best to go for a 40J. Often with bras if you go down a cup size then it’s common place to go up in the back size to regain the balance. When I first tried this Bikini top on I have to say I was seriously surprised. The support was better than most of the bras I own! I’m not sure if it was the padded finish of the top or the material used but I felt highly supported and extremely comfortable. The metallic detail on the straps gave a simple black piece that little extra style. The metallic sliders are extremely comfortable and didn’t dig in to me once.

I had never owned a Bikini top before this one and I was concerned that as soon as I got wet that I wouldn’t feel supported and that my beasts would drop heavily. I decided to give the set a test drive and so went for a swim in women’s lake at Hampstead Heath. In truth and weirdly enough I felt even more support once the top became wet. I have no idea why and I can’t explain it but this to me definitely gave the item extra brownie points! The experience of wearing the set in Greece didn’t change and the added sunshine and warmth of the Mediterranean sea was an added bonus!

I got the swim-skirt in a size 20 and this was very comfortable. Built in knickers with the additional skirt attached made for a sleek and sexy piece. I did however decide to opt for a pair of high waisted swim knickers when on holiday in Greece as I wanted my stomach concealed for comfort. I wanted to ensure that all of my problem areas were covered on holiday and so that I wouldn’t need to constantly apply sunscreen to that area (lazy I know).

I really enjoyed wearing these items and I will most definitely pick up some of the other sets in the collection. There are some great package holidays available at the moment and I may be in need of another set!

The 2014 collection is still available online and in many stores. Check out the Curvy Kate site to see what set catches you eye and for information on stockists.

Fashion World – Liz McClarnon Swimwear Range Launch Party

One thing we ladies enjoy, seeing the arrival of a new clothing line!

When I got invited to the launch of the new line by Liz McClarnon for Fashion World I sent in my RSVP pretty quickly. The former Attomic Kitten has come up with a swimwear collection for the brand and from what I saw there are some really nice pieces in the collection. The thing that’s great about this collection is that there is something to suit pretty much everyone and the sizes range from 12-32.

Me and Liz (Excuse my after work look, Liz looked stunning I loved her Tiki Dress!)
What better place to have a Swimwear launch party than a Tiki Bar complete with ladies in grass skirts, men doing tribal dances and free-flowing cocktails?! The first drink I ordered was the coconut special named after Liz. They were even serving this one in full size pineapples!…
The collection is full of cute patterns and prints with a mature and sweet style that would work in any holiday destination on any local swimming baths.
Take a look for yourself:

My favourites out of the collection are the 2 black swimdresses. I love the cute daises on the bust line for one of them and the flamingos on the other.
After a lot of entertainment and coctails myself and the girls had a good catch up and even managed to snap a few pictures:

Magnificent 7th – Sport Relief

The 7th day in every month is a day that the bloggers are challenged to follow a theme and come up with a creative idea around the theme. This month the theme is: Sport Relief.

When I thought about this theme several things came to mind. I thought about the cheerleaders you see on the sidelines dressed to impressed doing their cute and athletic dance routines. The girls you see at the boxing games or car shows in their cute and tight fitting outfits…. I quickly realised I have nothing in my wardrobe that might work with those ideas so then I got to thinking, ‘what else can I do?’ I don’t own any interesting Jersey’s for my favourite team or player so I ended up going for something related to my favourite form of exercise.
I love to swim it is one of those things I have always loved to do and I never get bored of. I could spend all day in the water be it at my local swimming baths or at the beach.

I recently bought a swimdress from Evans which hugs my curves and hangs just perfectly! With a little added support for my bust. What more could you want? Something that makes you look good that can be used for exercise and lounge-wear on the beach. I also purchased a Kaftan to wear with this one so that should I end up at the beach on a rather windy day I can get a little more coverage.

With this one I may need a wrap or a cinch belt as I wouldn’t want to end up in a Monroe moment at the beach should a gust of wind pick up speed. The Kaftan is completely open at the sides which makes it a one size fits all garment. It is so light and flowing that it’s perfect as a cover up on a sunny day. I personally would like that added security with it though.
