All Girls Love Pink

*Top Leggings And Shoes Were Gifted Items

You know it’s funny  how some things you just can’t seem to get used to. Take London for example, I have lived in this crazy city my entire life and I still struggle with what to wear between the months of September and October. See you would think that we would be well into the autumn season by now but the truth is, we had a pretty hot September and October has shown itself to be a very confused month weather-wise. We’ve had hot bursts of sunshine, rain and even winter cold. Many people are making the choice to eliminate all colour from their wardrobes, opting for a more dark and sophisticated selection during the season.

I personally love wearing black I always have as I find it to be one of the easiest block colours to play with. I too tend to wear many darker colours this time of year but I enjoy bringing in a sharp burst of colour to wake up an outfit. One colour I don’t have much of but always enjoy wearing is pink. I really like the way it works with my complexion and I find it can be a great colour to soften a look. I thought it would be cool to wear this baby pink asymmetrical frill top from Evans. What first drew me to this top when selecting it for review was the frill detail. I’m not a huge fan of hanky hem designs but this one really caught my attention. I really like how much longer it is at the back compared to the front and I found that this was a really comfortable top to wear both causally and professionally. As much as I enjoy showcasing a little cleavage now and then it is nice to be able to wear a modest design you can cleverly accessorise to spice up the style.

As there is a chill in the air at the moment I decided to pair this one with one of my old favourites, my black longline cardigan from a previous Yours Clothing collection. I love layering blacks and so it was a no brainer for me to wear this look with the best pair of leggings I have ever owned! One thing about sharing a love of fashion with one of your best friends is when you share info about new and interesting brands and styles. Hanna recently introduced me to a small indie brand from Finland, Excuse My Bon Bon. They create modern and fresh clothes for us curvy girls and have a great motto that goes along with the clothes. “Excuse my bon bon” is something I personally took to mean ‘excuse my big booty while I rock these hot clothes! The brand say ‘it is an attitude that helps you focus on the good, to make way for the curves and enjoy the chocolates without a guilty conscience’. I love that their focus is on how you feel in the clothes. I find if you feel good in what you’re wearing the clothes they will look great regardless! It just so happens that they have a really chic and sexy range of high quality garments to suit all shapes.

Their Lina leggings are an incredible fit, featuring a high waist with rubber band elasticated panels that smooth and lift your behind whilst pretty much working as spanx to the stomach. I have to say they are extremely comfortable and are a nice thick material perfect for the colder days. I really like the thick seam detail  across the front of the legs too. In keeping with selecting black items to complete this look my Michelle heels from Hotter were my shoe of choice and a black paisley bandana for my hair. Silver is always my go-to jewellery colour and so I thought my love hearts matching necklace and drop earrings would be a fun and girly addition to the look and my sparkly silver clutch with chain strap.

Like many women out there I often carry my shades with me just in case there’s a nice burst of sunshine and so I had what I call my “Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis” shades from D&G with me. I love a pair of large tinted shades. They not only work on sunny days but also on those days when you have the outfit together but don’t quite have time to fix your eye makeup lol.

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Sophisticated Chic – A Junarose Review

*This Dress Is A Gifted Item

There are many things I love about the current options plus size women have when it comes to fashion and beauty. One in particular are the multipurpose clothing items out there. Many of us are busy working women, some even have the added challenge of raising a family. We all have our things to do and time can be taxing so it’s nice to have comfortable casual style options that work between personal and professional, night and day.

I love dresses of all shapes, colours and styles but I have to admit my closet holds only a few strapless items. Like many curvy girls out there my arms have been a sore spot for me confidence wise and it’s only been about a year or so since I realised having my arms out doesn’t bother me at all anymore. I guess you could say I was worried about my biceps being a little too chunky. As time has passed things like that don’t really bother me in the same way that they used to. Those of you who are familiar with my blog will know that I’m all about wearing what you like and not really thinking about what other people’s opinions are…

I was recently given the chance to go through some amazing Junarose samples and one dress that caught my eye is this wrap front maxi dress. I instantly knew that this dress would be perfect for some casual wear, a day out with friends or even a business lunch. Stopping just across the calf this one makes for a nice length on my 5’5 frame. Perfect if you want to show off a little skin without showing too much. In a soft periwinkle blue with added tie detail this strapless number is most definitely a multipurpose dress! The wrap front with lapel detail gives off a tasteful amount of cleavage and the ties are a small but really nice addition.

I decided to wear this one with some strappy black sandals and a simple clutch. A cute blazer, denim or even a biker jacket would help in bringing this dress into more of an evening look. The block colour also makes this one work with gold or silver adornments and accessories. I recently had my hair in braids so with this look I decided to sweep them up into a bun and wear simply diamante stud earrings. I kept my makeup simple, wearing a deep pink lip for a bit of added colour.

This dress is currently on sale, available from the Junarose website.

From Summer To Fall

*Skirt And Shoes Are Gifted Items

It’s official, summer is over and we are well and truly into Autumn. For me one of the things I hate about this time of year is not being able to wear some of my summer threads that have made their way into my wardrobe. This past weekend we experienced a final burst of summer heat and with that I knew it was time to finally take some pictures in a couple of my favourite summer looks. This beautiful print circle skirt is a an item I have had for a few weeks now that was sent to me by the amazing American plus size brand, Lane Bryant. I have to say their summer collection this year was just gorgeous, there were so many amazing items I had my eye on, this skirt was one of many.

I took a look look at my wardrobe and a realised that one thing I lack, is great skirts! I love skirts but for some reason I have been gravitating towards pretty dresses. The thing is though, skirts make for a great separate they can be adapted into a variety of looks and styles, be made suitable for business or personal endeavours and, can work as a fabulous signature item in an outfit. I love the midi length and the gorgeous coral colour with peach shapes. The are 2 pockets in this skirt which are pretty deep and would be great for holding your phone or some cash while you’re on the go. I wanted a summery and casual look so I paired this skirt with a simple grey t-shirt and coral statement necklace. I look forward to experimenting more with this one and seeing if I can incorporate it into some autumn looks.

I love a good pair of heels, I find that just like a great staple item in the closet they too can be paired with a variety of styles and looks. I was recently given an opportunity by Hotter to visit their Bromley store and select a new pair of shoes for review. I have to say their AW16 range is really gorgeous this year. There are so many nice shoes, boots and heels for the season; each pair in a series of colours. I selected the Georgette shoes in pale bronze colour. I love the metallic shimmer detail and the gorgeous champagne tone. I find that with shoes they also needed to be treated in the way your wardrobe is. Every woman in the land would say you need to have a little black dress in the range and I feel that with shoes not only are black heels a must, but so are nude tones! When you want a shoe to work in with a pale outfit, sometimes black can be a little harsh and nude tones not only work with most colours and skin complexions, they create a really gorgeous soft feel in the shoe.

What drew me to this pair firstly is that they are the same height and shape as the Michelle heel from a previous collection. As you know I have worn those heels so many times on this blog we have all lost count lol. The truth is that they are my go-to heel, not only for their amazing comfort but because they are high enough to look sexy yet modest, but adaptable enough to work with a series of looks. I knew instantly the Georgette heels would be a good choice. This time though, Hotter have yet enhanced their amazing technology and the insoles have an even more cushioned and airy feel. The softness and bounce of the soles adds an extra spring to your step and being even more comfortable than any heel in the previous collections. These are also available in a beautiful navy and black colourways.

Summer may be over and the cold is starting to creep it’s way into the days but you know what I always say, have fun in what you wear! I still plan on bringing in bright and fun colours and prints to my looks and will enjoy playing around with some fun winter styles. Stay tuned….

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Blue And Distressed

*This outfit was gifted

Sometimes despite what the weather is doing you just want to be casual and comfortable. In my case I still try to bring in a little of my signature elements even to the simplest of looks. I was out for a walk in the park and so I decided to go for a sports luxe sort of look. I was recently sent some amazing items from Lane Bryant and one of them was this incredible Luster tee in metallic blue. You all know my love of all things blue and so for such a simple tee this for me was a must have item. I am wearing this in a size 22/24 as I wanted a slightly oversized fit. I have to say Lane are doing a lot to empower all curvy girls out there with their #plusisequal and #imnoangel campaigns. The brand has a host of styles to suit all women out there from the smallest of plus sizes right the way to the largest and I have to say I am loving it!

I decided to pair the tee with a pair of distressed white jeans designed by Hollywood actress Melissa McCarthy, these jeans were previously available at Evans. I’m wearing these in a size 24 but could have gone for a 22 or even 20 for a skinny fit. There are some great options available so be sure to check them out on the Evans website. I love the ripped effect on the jeans and the fringed detail at the hem of the legs. In these pictures I turned up the jeans at the bottom to highlight my shoes. I have always been a fan of white jeans and these I have to say are the first pair I have owned in about 7 years! For a long time there hasn’t been a pair on the market that I wanted to get my hands on but there is just something about this style of jeans that grabbed me. I have to say the denim is really soft on the skin and is amazingly comfortable to wear.

In keeping with the theme of casual and sporty I decided to wear my holographic trainers from a previous Primark collection. I of course decided to go for a navy blue bandana for a fun and comfortable look and as an additional blue piece. My usual large hoop earrings and I was pretty much set. I have had a lot of fun wearing these items and have paired them with a variety of looks. The jeans have worked as a basic staple that have been worn with monochrome styles and block colour tops. I even wore these with a pair of nude heels, my pleather biker jacket and a stylish top for an evening look. I will have to take some more photos to show you guys what I came up with.

I was at a recent blogger event held by Navabi and I attended wearing the Luster Tee, some wet look leggings, my Vanity boots from Hotter and my pleather biker jacket from Yours Clothing. The same navy bandana was my chosen colour of the day with my usual makeup and hoop earrings. I of course was trying on a series of items from the Navabi collection and they too went amazingly well with the top.

I think there are so many fun and interesting ways that you can work a simple tee or a pair of jeans into your look. Don’t be afraid to experiment, sometimes the results can not only be extremely comfortable and can easily lend themselves into a day or night time look. We’re still experiencing the strong burst of summer heat so for me the sports luxe look is a comfortable option at the moment but I will most definitely be having more fun with tees and more playful items this autumn!

In The Summer Sun – A Lane Bryant Review

*This dress was a gifted item

It’s a strange sort of summer this year. Usually there are endless conversations going on with people complaining about the heat, praying for a rain storm and hiding away in the shade. Now I love everything about the summer the sweltering heat, picnics in the park, the bright and beautiful colours everywhere and the excitement for holidays far away by the sea. This year we have had none of that. The conversation has been full of complaints as usual and this time we’re all whinging about the rain, cold days and short bursts of sunshine. Usually I’m in the background listening to what others have to say whilst i’m o the opposite oppinion and on the other side. This year I’m right there with them bitching away because summertime in London has been non existent with the odd hour of two of good weather.

Now when you’re someone who loves wearing a good sun dress and luxuriating in the sun, you make the most of the good days when they are here! Last weekend the sun was shinning, birds were singing and the need for layers was finally gone! I finally got to wear my gorgeous Fit & Flare Sleeveless Dress from Lane Bryant! A few weeks back they sent me some great bits to enjoy for the summer season and I haven’t really been able to wear any of them! I’m wearing this dress in a size 22 in the moderain plaid print. I have to say I love the feel of this one. It’s made out of a super silkly slinky fabric and I have to say it feels light as a feather on. A great option for a beach holiday or summer lunch.

The dress come complete with a zip fastening at the back and additional skinny belt. I was very impressed with the belt as 9 times out of 10 when a belt comes with a dress it has to be discarded due to poor fit. I had plenty of room in this dress and really enjoyed it’s loose fit feeling. Stopping just by the knee made wearing anti charf shorts very comfortable lol. I will say this, I love wearing bright and colourful clothes but I do lack in the orange and yellow department. I love that the print of the dress has splashes of orange, peach, beige, yellow and khaki green in box grids and lines.

Hanna let me borrow her Strappy Wooden heels, also from Lane Bryant and I think they totally complete the look. I was really surprised by how comfortable these shoes are! They are pretty high, really easy to walk in and virtually pain free! The only downside is that my left foot slid forward in the shoe in a little but to be honest I really didn’t care. When you feel good in the sunshine and enjoy those bright summer moments the little things don’t even bother you.

I’m hoping we get to enjoy more of this beautiful weather and I get to wear more summer items! Unfortunately it’s grey and wet as I write this post…

The One And Only MJ

So I tend to speak mostly about fashion and beauty here on the blog and I felt I should really share some of the other sides of myself with you guys more often. It’s no secret that music is my first and biggest love and passion. Some of you may or may not know but I used to sing professionally and have been writing and recording music since I was a child. Every musician out there has that one artist or performing act that just tipped things over the edge for them. That one performer no one else could come close to or even equal in stature and, more often than not the musician in question is their biggest inspiration when it comes to the work they create themselves. For me that artist has always been and will always be the King Of Pop, Michael Jackson.

Those who know me personally will know that I am a super fan of Michael, one that the fan community would dub a die hard. I have been a fan of Michael’s music since infancy and my love of the man and artist has never died out. In fact my fanship has expanded and grown in more ways than I can explain in one post and for a number of reasons. If I showed you guys some pictures from my adventures with the fans during Michael’s trips here to London, events, parties, going to the theatre with the King Of Pop himself and trips around the world you would see a whole other side of me (I may well share some of those with you one of these days!). Having said all of that I am still going to include fashion in this post, how could I not lol? There isn’t a fan of any major artist or music genre out there who doesn’t want to own a cool hoodie, t-shirt, cap or jacket of their favourite star. For me doing this as an MJ fan has been a struggle for many years…

Myself Pez and Seb at the Bad25 Premiere 2012

Of course we always wear an MJ T-shirt when we can!

Being that I’m 28 years old I missed a lot of the glory days when it came to Michael. Bad, Dangerous and HIStory had all come and gone during the course of my childhood and of course Off The Wall and Thriller before I was even born! I was only able to enjoy the music and merchandise that was available back in the day and I unfortunately had to pick up a lot of my vinyls and things many years after these incredible albums were in the charts. By the time I was old enough to do the “fan” thing and travel around to try and meet Michael I was 18 years old and he hadn’t released an album for several years at the time. As you can imagine trying to buy an MJ T-shirt could not have been harder! At this time back in 2005 the online shopping bomb hadn’t quite taken off, eBay was pretty new and places to buy official collectors t-shirts were pretty slim. Of course bootleg options were around but even those were few and far between, usually one size only and not exactly female friendly lol. It’s no secret that I’m a larger woman and I have a pretty large bust. Because of this if I wore a tee with a photo or illustration of Michael his face would usually distort across my bust. Of course I proudly wore what I could get but I was never really able to have fun in an MJ T-shirt until 2009 when Michael sadly passed away. Previously fans had to pick up whatever second hand goods they could get at car boot sales, events and hand me downs from older friends.

In 2006 My best friends and I started an MJ fanclub and after some time were running websites, events and a magazine publication. We were given an amazing opportunity to handle some of Michael’s famous costumes working with Julien’s Auctions, at the Bush And Tompkins exhibition which was held at the Getty Images gallery. You can only imagine how incredible the experience was for us as fans and I definitely appreciate it as a fashion lover too! MJVibe and Iconic has since gone from strength to strength over the years. After a few years since launching our first website we were able to take things to another level with a fresh online presence and expansion. We were able to broker an incredible deal with Bravado, they were the official company who have been behind all of the amazing items that we have had since Michael’s passing. The official exhibition to commemorate Michael at The 02 had finished and they offered us the chance to buy all of the remaining merchandise and apparel that had initially been made for Michael’s ‘This Is It’ residency. The memorabilia was sold in the exhibition’s gift shop as the concert series was of course unable to take place. Of course we jumped at the chance to bring these products direct to the fans. This was major for us as we were able to bring official merchandise to the fans at a rate cheaper than nearly every online and in store retailer! I’m so thrilled about everything we have achieved over the years. King-Of-Shop is where it’s all happening and we have tons of t-shirts and collectables for fans all over to enjoy!

Handling the legendary Silver Suit, worn on Michael’s Bad World Tour with the 2 most iconic jackets from the Dangerous era at the Bush And Tompkins Exhibition 2012

2 of my best friends Pez and Seb went over to Las Vegas to see the Cirque Du Soleil production of MJ One last year. The show is going from strength to strength and has been a big hit with the fans. The sad thing about it though is that since it’s opening the availability of official merchandise both wholesale and retail has dwindled and the options to source new things is pretty slim. Fans are having to rely on stores who still have old stock and what some have been able to source from what’s left out there in various warehouses and record stores. Of course this has meant that there has been a slight rise in bootleg merchandise. The boys however were able to source some great new items direct from the gift shop at MJ One and we are one of the only European and worldwide outlets to have some of the official and new items out there. Unfortunately the only new and official merchandise on the market are the products sold in the gift shop and there is no official online store to buy any of the memorabilia. There are sadly fans all over the world who are unable to get to Las Vegas who have been left without an outlet to buy new and official merchandise for quite some time now. Lucky for me the guys found a t-shirt that is specifically cut for ladies and available in all sizes!

I absolutely love this t-shirt and it has become one of my favourite MJ tees. I have so many I’ve lost count so this is saying a lot! I love the scoop neckline and loose fit feel. The fabric is really light weight and super soft and I love that the image of Michael used is from one of my favourite short films, the ending scene of Black Or White where we see Michael tap dancing in the street and morphing into a panther! The illustration was done by artist Nate Georgio for the cover art of MJ One. There is one short angel sleeve and a twisted sleeveless effect on the other arm, a really fun and funky little detail. The production title for the show is in a shinny gold of course complete with Michael’s autograph.

I decided that I would take on my own twist of a classic MJ look. In the short films to Bad, Speed Demon and Dirty Diana we see Michael adopt a tough biker look complete with skinny jeans, biker jacket and white tee! I thought my skinny ripped jeans from Evans would be a perfect fit and my old biker jacket from Simply Be. As MJ himself loved some sequins and a little sparkle so of course my glitter brogues were a must! Sometimes you just have to embrace your inner rock chic, in my case my inner MJ with a twist!

I’ve had a lot of fun over the years at MJ events, ALWAYS wearing an MJ T-shirt and I will continue to do so! I just hope that the options we get for apparel begin to improve soon because there isn’t a fan out there who is tired of wearing MJ, sticking their favourite hits on and dancing it up! As you guys know this isn’t the first time I’ve spoken about MJ on this blog but it is the first time I have shared this much of my history as a fan with you, I can assure you it won’t be the last lol!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

I still have to get out to the states to see MJ One as the former MJ production by Cirque, Immortal was incredible! The good news though is that the boys and I will be throwing a huge bash on September 10th in London to celebrate an incredible album and era of music, Michael’s Dangerous! We will be having some incredible guests joining us including Grammy Award winning technical director and engineer Thom Russo, dancer and choreographer Yuko Sumida Jackson and Former SVP Marketing & Sales Manager at EPIC/SONY (Dangerous & HIStory) Era Dan Beck. We’d love to see you there! For ticket info, event schedule and more check out our website www.kingvention.com

360° Denim Dream! A Fashion World Review

When it comes to clothes there are some items that we ALL have in our closets, undergarments, t-shirts, sweats and a great pair of jeans! I am a huge lover of jeans and have been since the day I got my first bootcut pair as a teenager. I will be honest though even though I love wearing denim styled trousers, trying to find a pair that looks good, feels good and looks like a key part of the outfit rather than just a boring pair of jeans is not easy!

It’s known that we women all come in varying shapes, sizes and ages. I’m not exactly in love with the idea of referring to myself as a shape but we women often have to think about what shape we are close to when buying clothes. I would say that I am in-between an hour glass and a pear shaped figure. On top of this I am a plus size woman which means I have to account for a couple of additional lumps and bumps when trying to look good. In my case I’m 5 feet and 5 inches tall, and I tend to buy jeans with a 31 inch leg. The size changes depending on the brand I am buying from and often the colour of the jeans can come into play here. Not long ago I discovered that black dye in clothes can cause an item to fit a little smaller than with lighter colours.

I was recently contacted by Fashion World and was offered the chance to try out a pair of jeans from their new 360° Fit Jeans collection. Always on the hunt for a good pair of jeans I of course accepted and was sent a pair of the Slim Fit Long Jeans in size 26 Indigo colour. Previously with Jeans from the JD Williams brands I have had to go for a size 28. I tend to wear a size 24/26 in trousers and jeans but theirs usually come up a little smaller than with some other brands. I thought I would try a 26, seeing that I have recently lost a little weight and I wanted these to have a fitted look.

I have to say I was really impressed with these jeans. They fit me like a glove with plenty of room in the behind and across the stomach. I really like the length of them and feel that they would look amazing with heels, wedges, boots or flats as the hem stops just below my ankle. For me an added bonus with these jeans is how soft they feel against the skin. Often jeans can feel stiff, rigid and a little rough sometimes. 70% cotton, 24% polyester, 4% viscose and 2% elastane fabric these jeans are really comfortable to wear. Really smooth to the touch, and they have that softness that you get when you have washed your favourite pair of jeans a few times and the fibres soften. When sitting in these they also have that little bit of added stretch you hope for, especially if you have just eaten or something.

I like to keep things casual a lot of the time and with this outfit I thought I would go for cold colours. The jeans being a deep shade of indigo made me want to add hints of grey to the rest of the outfit. I pulled out an old grey blazer from New Look Inspire size 22. I wanted a smart casual look so with this I went for a black #celfie t-shirt from Yours Clothing size 26/28 I love loose fitting t-shirts that compliment a series of outfits and this one is simple but fun. Usually I like for my tees to be a size lower but every now and again a larger size is the preference if I want additional boob room.

You all know that I like to match my accessories to my overall look and so this tote bag from the new W.O.W (Wardrobe Of Wonders) collection from Zizzi was a must! In keeping with the black my Hotter boots were my chosen footwear and my black beret was my hat of choice. Silver hoop earrings, my heart charm bracelet and floral statement necklace were my jewellery choices.

I’m believer that keeping things simple doesn’t have to mean being boring. When it comes to basic looks I like to add a few personal touches of my sense of style. For me when I feel a little more put together I walk with a little more confidence. No one likes that feeling of having to rush and not quite feeling as though you look your best. I find that sticking to the colours of my clothes makes selecting additional items and accessories easier.

The Sensational Scarlett & Jo And The SS15 Shoot

The past few weeks have been a major whirlwind for me, the most exciting thing was of course working with the amazing Scarlett & Jo for their Spring and Summer campaign, and getting to know 7 of my other blogging sisters better.

The cupcake party was a lot of fun and it was nice to discover how the others girls came to start their blogs and what journey’s they have been on in the process. I have said it before and I will say it again, the highlight for me was of course working with Scarlett & Jo. When I first came into the offices and met with Aoife, Louisa and Gifi the incredible journey started for me. Everyone was so welcoming and so lovely and what really struck me and put a smile on my face was of course meeting the amazing designer Gifi. For years I had spent years working as a professional singer and musician and Gifi really reminds me of many of the people I had met during my years on the stage and in theatre. He is such a character; full of life, zeal and creativity. I really gravitate towards fun and creative people and he is exactly that. I was surprised and extremely flattered to learn that he had seen my reviews of the Powerfit dress on the Evans website and then my blog posts about their clothes. It was such a pleasure to speak with him in person and to see how much passion he has for creating amazing clothes for women everywhere. Scarlett & Jo as a brand is very precious to him and he and the team are committed to bringing women beautiful garments which look great on women of all shapes and sizes. The detail and engineering that goes into the clothing is second to none and it shows whenever you wear them. I was just saying to a friend of mine earlier today that nearly 2 years after buying my first dress and wearing it EVERYWHERE it still looks and fits exactly the same as it did the first day I wore it!

Here are my final images from the shoot:

I was so honoured to have been asked to join the girls in the current campaign. So much thought has gone into every single item in the collection and there really is something to suit everyone. I have to say it was so nice to be working with a group of people who all share the same passion about fashion for the plus woman and every picture taken on the day came out so beautiful. Hats off to the incredibly talented Nicky Rockets for all of his work, he was such a pleasure to shoot with. The collection is rolling out onto the Evans website as I write this post with items being added daily. Selected stores which stock the Scarlett & Jo range will also be getting these items so keep your eyes and ears open for updates.

Here are some of my favourite out-take pictures taken on the shoot:

Have You Seen Amy? A Monroe Knows Review

*This dress was a gifted item

We women like our dresses to be flattering, stylish and comfortable and when searching for the perfect dress it can be hard to know where to start. I was recently given the chance to review a gorgeous dress from Monroe Knows. There are many up and coming brands out there at the moment and I have to say one thing that sets Monroe Knows apart from many competitors is their clear thought and insight into making clothes to suit a plus size shape. I’m reviewing their Amy Dress in red size 24. This dress is available in sizes 18-26 in 2 other colour-ways; black and green. When picking up dresses I have to be careful when selecting a size because of my bust and behind. More often than not I have to up-size because of this. There have been many a time when I have tried on something and it fits me perfectly everywhere except those areas so I always like to play it safe.

I was really impressed with the attention to detail with this dress, firstly the fabric is really good quality. 95% viscose and 5% spandex there is plenty of stretch with this one which is more than accommodating to those of us with a large bust and generous behind. The slight gathering at the waist works as a built in cinch built; enhancing the shape of the dress and accentuating the curvature of your silhouette. I really like dresses that work with your curves and highlight the key areas that we like to showcase. I tend to gravitate towards dresses that pull in at the waist and mould nicely around my breasts. I like the the skirt of a dress to hang loosely on me and the top section of the dress to cling. I find that this sort of cut works best with my shape and size.

I find that dresses with a wrap detail suit pretty much any size and shape of woman and they work with women who have small, medium or large shape breasts which is a huge bonus for us as a consumer and of course the designer. Admittedly I have some dresses that most definitely work better with large busted ladies so I think it’s nice when there is a dress that is pretty much open to all who like it.

The three quarter length sleeves are really comfortable and stretchy which again is a bonus as sleeves can be a tight spot for some of us bigger women. Those of you who are familiar with my blog will know that even though I will expose my arms during warm months and such I do feel more comfortable with them covered which is why I love my jackets, shrugs and cardigans.

The overall length of the dress is really nice and stops just past the knee for me. I’m 5’5 and so this acts as a slightly longer dress than many of my others but that’s actually the thing I like about it. Many of the vintage dresses that I adore are also this length and I find that you can be sexy yet understated when wearing a dress which displays your cleavage but sits at a comfortable length. For me this is always a bonus because I have a large and high behind which tends to make many of my skirts and dresses hitch up a little in the back and I worry about having to wear leggings or tights underneath to conceal my private parts should a high wind kick up or something.

I have a thing for wine red items, especially dresses as I have about 4 of them already! I have to say I really like this colour I think it compliments many different skin tones and it’s not to bold or brashy which sometimes is required. I have worn this dress to work and it makes for a really practical item. I spend a lot of hours on my feet running around and talking to a variety of people so I like clothes which carry a certain sophistication about them but still carry that chic and stylish flair that makes us women feel like a million dollars.

Here in these pictures I decided to keep things simple wearing only a statement necklace and black heels in addition to the dress. I thought I’d break out one of my black hair scarves. I tend to wear hair scarves a lot this time of year, I find that they work with a huge selection of looks and help to keep the cold at bay.

This dress would look really cute worn with flats or even a pair of boots.

If you like the look of this dress and would like to pick it up for yourself you can get it here and the good news is that the dress has been reduced from £74.99 down to an amazing £37.50!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Release The Hounds – A Lane Bryant Review

When it comes to jackets there are a lot of things I look at when picking out an item. I like items that work with other bits in my wardrobe. I think about the clothes I currently have and how I might style the new piece with them. I like jackets that I wear as a simple cover up and often these are the focal point to my look. I gravitate towards interesting adornments or features in a jacket and if those aren’t the things catching my eye it tends to be the colour or print. I have always liked items that can remain in your wardrobe and aren’t necessarily what’s “in” at the moment. Unfortunately I don’t have the kind of bank balance that allows me to dispose of items just because they are not in season. To be honest with you I wouldn’t want that anyway. I love the feeling of buying a new outfit and being absolutely in love with it, so much so that to part with it would be a challenge!

I have made no secret about my love of things that are classic and vintage. Polka dots, pleats and prints. This year I have worn a fair amount of items which have a houndstooth print. When I saw this gorgeous Moto Jacket from Lane Bryant I absolutely fell in love with it! This was something I knew I could wear with many of my clothes both in and out of the office. I loved that for such a sophisticated item it came with a casual twist. Under the arms at the waist line of the jacket there is a thick black panel which accentuates the shape in the waist and is a nice way to break up the print. The zip fastening takes the jacket up and across the chest in a diagonal style and provides a really nice coverage. I have worn this item at work almost in the form of a blazer with smart black trousers, a camisole and heels. For office wear it makes for a really practical and comfortable piece.

I got this in a size 24 which leaves me plenty of boob room and allows me to fasten it completely with a sweater underneath. Despite the fact that this feels quite light weight on it is still quite warm so if like me you prefer to wear thinner layers this one will provide great coverage and warmth. The lining is really silky to the touch and makes for a really comfortable jacket.

With this outfit in particular Hanna and I were on afternoon walk looking for cool spots to take some pictures for our blogs and we came across this really cute street nearby where all the houses were painted in beautiful pastel colours. It’s nice when see things like that close to where you live. Especially as London can be quite colourless in places.

With this outfit I was feeling quite casual and seeing as there was a little winter sun I thought I’d take advantage of the situation and wear one of my favourite summer dresses. The cold shoulder dress from Boohoo has made for a pretty cool staple piece that I was able to use in various looks. I wanted something loose fitting and oversized so I got this one in a size 24. The weather wasn’t quite warm enough for tights so I opted for a simple pair of black leggings. I wanted a little extra bling for this look to accent the classic print in the jacket so my Legroom boots from Fashion World were a must!

For my jewellery I opted for some items from Primark; the necklace earrings and ring. I couldn’t resit wearing my houndstooth satchel with this outfit either. It just seemed like the perfect bag for this look. I know it’s houndstooth overload but I just couldn’t resist. You may have also noticed recently that I’m pretty into my hats at the moment, especially berets so I opted for my old favourite from Simplybe.

If you like the look of the jacket or have something similar please send me some pictures, I’d love to see how you styled the item and what you did with it. This is most definitely one of those items I will hold onto for a while and it will most definitely appear in some other looks of mine. Don’t be afraid to change a perceived look, play around with your clothes. Some causal bits can be made more dressy and some more sophisticated items can be taken down a more causal route. Have fun with your outfits and try out different things.

Remember what ever you wear, feel fabulous in it and where it with a smile!
