Beat It 35

A plus size woman smiling wearing a Michael Jackson beat it t-shirt, red faux leather zip front mini skirt, black duster jacket, silver metallic Chelsea boots and red bandana

When it comes to music there isn’t a person alive who doesn’t know and love the works of Michael Jackson. I am one of the rare few who would loudly and proudly describe myself as a die hard fan. Thriller is still the largest selling album of all time. With that being said me and the guys are celebrating 35 years of the pop rock classic Beat It. Unfortunately I wasn’t born when the track came out but I have grown up listening to this classic song and not once has it ever felt old!

When I think of MJ’s Beat It so many things come to mind. The track destroyed boundaries all over and made Michael one of the first artists to be loved and embraced by music lovers of all races and backgrounds. Making him a world shaker and game changer on his own. It’s fair to say that Michael pretty much owned the 80s! Even though rock music was very much a white American genre back in the day, MJ was one of the pioneers to change all of that. The fierce commercial track with world famous guitar solo by Eddie Van Halen changed the game. People of all ages still have a phenomenal time playing air guitar and screaming out the catchy chorus.

Beat it just so happens to be one of the first choreographed dance routines that fans worldwide can all do! I myself have been known to let loose when the song plays out in public. Truth be told, you really don’t care when the music is that good! I know I’m not the only one who also connects the song with the red leather zipper jacket! No one on the planet is able to wear a similar jacket without Michael Jackson and “beat it” being mentioned.

With that being said you can understand why I decided to style this look the way that I have. King-Of-Shop is something that myself and the boys are extremely proud of. The world’s most successful and talked about MJ merchandise and apparel online store. We are known for only selling official MJ merchandise and fine collectables. Beat It is also heavily featured on the site at the moment and this t-shirt is one of the many available styles so be sure to check us out!

I was recently sent the most amazing red faux leather zip front mini skirt from In The Style Curve. I knew that it would be perfect with this t-shirt and the Beat It theme. The funky zips remind me of those on the jacket. Scarlet red and vibrant faux leather is something that any MJ fan would want to wear. I thought it would look pretty hot with my silver Chelsea boots also. Finished off with my Asos Curve fishnet tights, black duster jacket, lips bag and bandana, I was MJ ready!

It’s crazy to think that the song has reached a 35 year milestone but is still just a fresh today as it was when it was first heard. Weddings, parties, club nights, pop discos and events all over the world are playing this song as we speak! MJ was one of the best musical artists for creating a timeless classic and being able to reach people of all generations with his music. Beat It is no exception to the rule and will forever remain a favourite for people everywhere. Let’s not forget the incredible cherry picker routine on the live tours!

Stay tuned on the blog because I will be having fun in more MJ inspired looks and paying homage to some other classics very soon. Last summer I played around with Dirty Diana. Who knows what i’ll be having fun with next!

M&S Curve – A New Fashion Range

Plus size woman wearing an M&S black double layered dress, heeled buckle boots and a biker jacketM&S Curve Launch Event 2018

It’s not often that everyone can agree on the same thing! Ask anyone in Britain to name a brand known for amazing quality and M&S comes to mind. The company have been going since 1884,  developing and expanding ever since. Food, home goods and of course fashion are just some of the things one can purchase from them. I’m super excited to be able to share some amazing news with you. Their fashions have gone from strength to strength and now we have an M&S Curve range! Partnering with the fiercely fun and stylish Danielle Vanier they created a collection with plus size women as their focus.

M&S Curve Launch 2018

On January 9th fashion bloggers, media and press agents were all invited to a lavish breakfast at London’s Ivy Soho Brasserie. Hosted by Jo Hales, head of buying for the brand and Danie. What more can someone want than to enjoy a lavish breakfast, catch up with old friends and form new acquaintances? They wanted to share some details about the range with us and showcase some lines from the collection. We learned that the main range of clothing is based around a size 12 frame. M&S wanted to focus creating the Curve collection on a size 24 woman, a true plus size collection! So far a great start to 2018, we have a fab new collection in sizes 18-32.

Danielle Vanier at the M&S Curve Launch Event 2018

Special attention went into the selection and cut of fabrics, specific print designs were chosen all with plus size women at the forefront. I can honestly say that nothing synonymous with the brand has been compromised when putting this collection together. Quality, style and variety is all a part of this range. Specially sourced size 20 mannequins will be also be used in the stores that carry the Curve collection. Great for women who aren’t so keen on shopping online and happen to see some stuff when picking up their groceries! 30 styles are already available.

Danie, was brought on to work with the brand as a consultant and she also designed 2 gorgeous LBDs (you can see me wearing one of them in these pics). A sexy bodycon with mesh shoulders and arms with some asymmetric gathering across the front. At the breakfast event Danie had said about the collaboration, ‘When I started with them I thought, they’re gonna be synonymous with quality, design, fit and fabric. Everything they do is really thought out and considered.’

I tried on a few of the samples that were showcased. I love that there really is something for everyone. Some great basics, work wear and dressier options are all included. A particular item to catch my attention was the incredible biker jacket. The faux leather had stretch throughout including additional stretch panels. This is available in black and gun metal grey. Even when fastened there is plenty of room in the stomach and breast area! A must have if you ask me! There was also a hot trench coat and lurex plisse jumpsuit that everyone at the event had their eye on! Be sure to keep an eye on the site as more items from the curve range become available.

I was thrilled to finally get my hands on some pieces from the range. Stylish, sophisticated and edgy lines can be found from M&S curve. There’s some fab items that would be great at the office, on a date night and for everyday wear. The half sleeve mesh midi dress is an item that to me is multipurpose. I can see myself wearing this casually with trainers and colourful accessories. I decided to bring a bit of a biker chick vibe to the look for these pics. Deciding to double up on the mesh by wearing fish net tights and pairing it with the curve biker jacket with a pop of red lipstick. Of course being that this was designed by Danie it was going to have some fun features. Gathered detail at the waist, the doubled layered effect, silky sash detail at the front and back zip.

Everyone in attendance at the event were excited that some top quality items would be available on the high street at a great prince point! I’ve seen the look book and there’s some really hot lines still to come. I can’t wait to see what they bring out later in the year!
Check out the website and to look out for M&S Curve in a store near you!

Monochrome Edge

A plus size woman wearing a black and white stripe shirt, black vinyl leggings, a black bandana and black lace up heeled platform boots

When it comes to our choice in fashion some things never get old! I honestly don’t remember a time in my life when I haven’t loved wearing monochrome outfits. There’s just something about black and white fashion that does it for me. Firstly colour coordination is the name of my style game. Black and white items always make for hot staple pieces in the wardrobe and always make things convenient when you’re on the go.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a black and white stripe shirt, black vinyl leggings, a black bandana and black lace up heeled platform bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing a black and white stripe shirt, black vinyl leggings, a black bandana and black lace up heeled platform boots

Yours Clothing recently got in touch with me and asked me if I would like to select a few items in their current collection. The first thing I saw was this hot black and white stripe shirt. The item to me worked as both a hot item I could wear to the office but also something I could switch up. Reminiscent of a referee shirt, the slightly loose fit and double thick stripes were what caught my attention. Due to the fact that I have a large bust I always up-size with shirts or front fastening items. Wearing this one in a size 26/28 I not only have plenty of room and feel comfortable in the light weight item but I find that when I want a more of a modest look this fit is perfect. A monochrome item in and of itself!

A plus size woman smiling wearing a black and a black bandanaA plus size woman wearing a black and white stripe shirt, black vinyl leggings, a black bandana and black lace up heeled platform bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing a black and white stripe shirt, black vinyl leggings, a black bandana and black lace up heeled platform boots

Now those of you who know me know that I can be as girly and demure as the next woman but I do love my edgy items. Shiny things have always caught my eye. The thing is, I like wearing bright and garish things despite the fact that some people think us big women shouldn’t. Latex, vinyl and wet look items have been available from plus brands everywhere. Perfect if you like monochrome looks. Vinyl and wet look leggings just happen to be something I have a slight obsession with. I selected this pair in a size 26/28 because fabrics of this style have little to no stretch. Vinyl isn’t breathable on the skin either. You can see by my photos that I could have selected these in a size 24 for a more tailored fit.

A plus size woman wearing a black and white stripe shirt, black vinyl leggings, a black bandana and black lace up heeled platform bootsPlus size black vinyl leggings and black lace up heeled platform boots

I never used to be a woman phased much by footwear but that has changed over time. I did think when I was younger that you only needed 1 pair of black boots. Laughable when I think about it now. I have casual boots, sexy boots, sophisticated boots and those I can wear anywhere. This pair of heeled ankle boots had an edge to them that I really like. I should note that I find these extremely comfortable and could see myself walking a fair distance in them. I think that they compliment this outfit really well.

When it comes to my wardrobe I like a little bit of everything. Black and white items we all know go with every colour out there but there’s just something funky about putting them with each other. Monochrome suits every person on the planet. You simply can’t go wrong! You will definitely see more of the style from me in the future!

In The Varsity

A plus size woman smiling wearing a metallic varsity jacket, black coated jeggings, and black Chelsea boots

Sometimes things just come together in a way that works. I love to get girly and dressed up as you guys know but I do love being comfortable and casual. I have always loved varsity jackets. This might have something to do with my appreciation of vintage fashion? When I take a look in my wardrobe I see a series of jackets all with a varsity cut. I currently have 3 Michael Jackson ones, 2 basic casual ones and now this hot metallic number! Navabi contacted me over Christmas and asked me if I would like to select a gift to celebrate the holidays. It was actually Hanna who spotted this one and was like ‘this jacket is so you!’. Of course she was right, I wanted it as soon as I saw it!

In some ways i’m a typical woman, I love shinny things! Metallic and sparkly clothing items draw me in the same way a woman is pulled to jewels. I know we’re in the new season but I still have an appreciation for metallic fashion. What I love about this jacket is that unlike many, the distressed texture adds some edge and difference to things. The long-line cut makes this one workable with bodycon dresses, jeans, tunics, t-shirts and a multitude of items. I should note though that the glitter does like to get on other clothes so you may wish to select light or grey items to wear with it! Most of us like to up-size with jackets and coats to accommodate the clothes under and make room for our bust. I got this one in size 26/28.

Monochrome outfits for me are so easy to wear and can be casual with a twist. I decided that rather than wear black and white i’d select black and silver items. Evans recently sent me a pair of coated jeggings and I thought that the texture against the metallic jacket would be a fun look. These are a true to fit size and are high waisted. I’m wearing these in a size 24. I feel that black items are so easy to incorporate into the wardrobe and make for a great basic.

Sometimes you want to wear an outfit that is simple, comfortable and effortless. I do find that items like varsity jackets can be worn in so many ways. If you wanna see how I wore one in a sexier and dressier look check out this post from last year. As I always say multipurpose clothing items are great for those of us on a budget! I plan on wearing this jacket with a series of different items. Why worry about people seeing you in the same thing more than once. It gives you the chance to be creative?!

I thought pair these items with an oversized black top and i’d put my hair in bunches, keep my makeup simple and wear my signature hoop earrings with my long cross chain. A simple yet flashy look all at the same time lol. As I said before I don’t think you can go wrong with shinny things lol. Maybe next i’ll add a pop of colour to switch things up a little. Stay tuned, who knows I may include this one in another outfit on the blog one day!

Get It Checked

A plus size woman wearing a checked shirt, black skinny jeans, and black patent buckle boots

Over the past few years we have seen that checked shirts have been in style for women all over the country. I personally hadn’t owned one until just a few months ago. Now I find myself with a few in my wardrobe each with a different element of style. In The Style Curve have quite a range of plus size clothing and there is pretty much something for everyone. Sometimes you just want to wear something with some colour that can either be dressy, smart or casual.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a checked shirt, black skinny jeans, and black patent buckle bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing a checked shirt, black skinny jeans, and black patent buckle boots

When I saw this shirt from the Binky collection I knew I wanted to try it out. The rich and warm colours really caught my eye. Reds and oranges really work against my complexion so I knew that something containing both would be a really nice fit. This one is designed as a dress but I like to wear it as a shirt with some extra length. I like that checked shirts allow for a mix of colours in a single garment. It can make putting together an outfit rather fun. I decided to keep things simple and only wear black with this one.

A plus size woman wearing a checked shirt, black skinny jeans, and black patent buckle bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing a checked shirt, black skinny jeans, and black patent buckle boots

Whenever I buy dresses or shirts with front fastening buttons I up-size. When you have a large bust you need to account for this to minimise the gaping that can take place. I have this one in size 26 because of this. I like that unlike other checked shirt designs there is a small but subtle added detail, the sleeves! They come with long checked ties that you can use to fasten bows or leave loose if you wanted to have a different look altogether!

A plus size woman smiling wearing a checked shirtA plus size woman smiling wearing a checked shirtA plus size woman smiling wearing a checked shirt, black skinny jeans, and black patent buckle boots

Lane Bryant recently sent me this pair of super stretch skinny jeans. Of course black skinny jeans go with a multitude of clothing items so you can see why it was so easy for me to pair these with my checked shirt dress. I should note that usually you downsize with American sizing when buying in the UK. I did however get these in a size 26. From my trip to Vegas last summer I knew that with Lane my size for shorts, trousers and jeans would be a US size 26. That being said if you disregard the size label in the back of your jeans the fit is amazing. The denim is super stretch and extremely comfortable. They honestly feel as comfortable as a pair of thick leggings. Perfect for this time of year!

So there are many ways you can put together a casual yet stylish look. Some work with shapes, prints and cuts. I like to colour coordinate my looks and go from there. Whatever it is you do to look stylish be sure to have fun in your clothes and stay warm in the winter cold!

Who Said Grey Had To Be Dull?

A plus size woman smiling wearing a grey turtle neck sweater, silver mini skirt, black heeled Chelsea boots, holding a silver clutch

It’s a few days into January so let me wish you all a big Happy New Year. Even though everyone is back to work and the weather is still awful it’s not all doom and gloom. Even though the mood may feel grey that doesn’t mean grey fashion items have to be dull or boring. I’m really not a fan of the cold, in fact I can’t stand it. Maybe it’s because I was born in the middle of July, or perhaps because people aren’t as cheery this time of year. Either way I try to find fun ways to fight the chill in the air.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a grey turtle neck sweater, silver mini skirt, black heeled Chelsea boots, holding a silver clutch A plus size woman wearing a grey turtle neck sweater, silver mini skirt, black heeled Chelsea boots, holding a silver clutch

When In The Style Curve recently released this sweater dress I knew I wanted to get my hands on it. It looked so warm and cosy in their stock photos. It’s not often that I have found a roll neck (or turtle neck to some people) sweater where the neck is fully covered and the folds stay in place. I absolutely love the fit of this one. I should note though this is a very short one if you want to wear it as a dress. It does have a true to size fit though. I’m wearing this one in size 22-24.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a grey turtle neck sweaterA plus size woman wearing a grey turtle neck sweater, silver mini skirt, black heeled Chelsea boots, holding a silver clutch A plus size woman smiling wearing a grey turtle neck sweater, silver mini skirt, black heeled Chelsea boots, holding a silver clutch

I thought it would be fun to continue with wearing metallics and so I paired this top with my mini skirt from Simply Be (To read my review on this item check out this post). This gave me the little extra length that I like and was a fun way to create an outfit. I rolled the hem of the top upwards slightly to really emphasise the baggy oversized look. To finish things off I added a simple pair of fish net tights from Asos Curve and slipped on my heeled Chelsea boots.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a grey turtle neck sweater, silver mini skirt, black heeled Chelsea boots, holding a silver clutch A plus size woman smiling wearing a grey turtle neck sweater, silver mini skirt, black heeled Chelsea boots, holding a silver clutch

I love that some items that are meant to be pretty casual can really get some added sass by the way they are accessorised. If like me you’re all about colour coordination this should be easy for you. Working with a colour pallet can simplify the decision making process when it comes to putting an outfit together. As Pink goes so well with grey I decided to wear some pink lippy with this one. Even when wearing block colours a little touch of something different can make all the difference.

A plus size woman wearing a grey turtle neck sweater, silver mini skirt, black heeled chealsea boots, holding a silver clutch A plus size woman smiling wearing a grey turtle neck sweaterA plus size woman smiling wearing a grey turtle neck sweater, silver mini skirt, black heeled Chelsea boots, holding a silver clutch

As it stands I believe the grey version of this sweater dress may be out of stock but it does come in a lush stone colour so be sure to pick one up while stocks last! I can assure you it is as warm as it looks! This would work really well with leggings, jeans and many other items. And for those of you who are daring enough as a single item! Tell me what key items are you wearing to battle the cold this season?

Soft, Blue And Velvet

A plus size woman smiling wearing a blue velvet wrap dress, blue sequin beret, black fluffy bag, tights and black ankle boots

It’s the end of the year and as we are enjoying the remaining days in our Christmas break, making the most of the good food and chill time. At the moment most people are thinking of how they want to bring in the new year. Thoughts of resolutions are taking place, people are wondering who will give them a kiss when the clock strikes twelve… others take the time to think about what they will be wearing and how much alcohol they will or won’t consume lol. Making the most of this season and the weather I will again be either wearing a velvet or a sequin number.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a blue velvet wrap dress, blue sequin beret, black fluffy bag, tights and black ankle bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing a blue velvet wrap dress, blue sequin beret, black fluffy bag, tights and black ankle bootsA plus size woman wearing a blue velvet wrap dress, blue sequin beret, black fluffy bag, tights and black ankle boots

This is the third and final instalment of my velvet series. I started off by writing about another soft velvet wrap dress. I then followed this by discussing a mulled wine dress, perfect for Christmas. I’ve been having fun and recently Navabi sent me this gorgeous wrap dress and I was thrilled! Manon Baptiste are known for luxurious premium fashion for us plus size women and offer a fabulous range of clothing. If you’re looking for something with that extra wow factor they can and will deliver! What I love about this dress besides the gorgeous colour and sumptuous velvet is the design. To me the dress is a cross between an elegant wrap dress and feminine smokers jacket. The lace trim adds a sassy feminine touch perfect for some additional elegance and the v-neck cut is perfect to showcase the decolletage.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a blue velvet wrap dress and blue sequin beret A blue velvet wrap dress with lace trim and black fluffy bagA plus size woman smiling wearing a blue velvet wrap dress, blue sequin beret, black fluffy bag, tights and black ankle boots

The soft velvet is thick and warm and has a nice amount of stretch. This cut would suit women of all shapes and moulds perfectly to the curves. The ties are really long so you can pretty much wear them in whatever way makes you feel comfortable. With 2 invisible loops, one on each side of the waist, this is one that you can feel secure wearing without having to worry about adjusting constantly. I really like that the sleeves are long as you still feel covered even though you may have your legs on show and some cleavage out. This one is definitely true to size. I selected this in a size 24.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a blue velvet wrap dress, blue sequin beret, black fluffy bag, tights and black ankle bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing a blue velvet wrap dress, blue sequin beret, black fluffy bag, tights and black ankle boots

When putting this outfit together I was heading out for a Christmas get together with friends. The idea was to be festive and stylish. I pulled on a simple pair of black tights and wore my newest pair of ankle boots from Yours Clothing. To finish things off I dug out my old blue sequin blue beret for added sparkle. I thought my new fluffy clutch from In The Style would be perfect as the black compliments the hem of the dress, my tights and hair colour. The silver chain works perfectly with my hoop earrings and the sparkle in my hat.

Blue is my favourite colour! It is really nice to be able to wear another fab dress in rich royal blue. Who can go wrong in soft, sumptuous velvet?! There isn’t a person alive who doesn’t feel fabulous when they wear this luscious fabric. Who knows I may even wear both sequins and velvet to bring in the new year! Whatever i’ll be wearing it’ll definitely be stylish and fun!

Sweet Like Mulled Wine

A plus size woman smiling wearing a wine red velvet dress, tights and black leather wide calf boots

So as we’re approaching Christmas I am well and truly into Velvet. With that being said this post would be the second in my end of year velvet series. I love that Christmas brings in some life to the dreary winter season with rich sumptuous colours everywhere. I love wearing red as it pops so well against my skin. When I saw this Charlotte Crosby wine coloured mini dress I knew I had to have it!

A plus size woman smiling wearing a wine red velvet dressA plus size woman smiling wearing a wine red velvet dress, tights and black leather wide calf bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing a wine red velvet dress

When I’m with the family for Christmas I like to wear something that is stylish and comfortable and has some colour. Red tends to be my chosen colour so this dress was a must have. I love the fact that it has short elbow sleeves and that the cleavage is covered. Sometimes the only skin you want to have on show is your legs. I picked this dress in a size 26 as when you have a large bust or behind mini dresses can hitch up and I didn’t want it to fit like a top so I decided to up-size.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a wine red velvet dress, tights and black leather wide calf bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing a wine red velvet dress, tights and black leather wide calf boots

What more can a woman want than a dress that is the colour of fine mulled wine for Christmas?! It’s funny how things like fabrics and colours can really get you into the spirit of things. I’m obsessed with the velvet, metallics and sequin options out this season and I plan to make the most of the them before they aren’t as appreciated in the new year. I say wear what makes you feel special this holiday season even if you aren’t someone who celebrates Christmas. We all love having the chance to dress up don’t we?

A plus size woman smiling wearing a wine red velvet dressA plus size woman smiling wearing a wine red velvet dress, tights and black leather wide calf bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing a wine red velvet dress, tights and black leather wide calf boots

I love the softness of the velvet and the length which is absolutely perfect for my 5’5 frame. This one also comes in a black and deep emerald green colour for those of you looking for other options. I love that you can keep things simple whilst still looking pretty glam. I decided to pair this one with a pair of black tights and my Jilsen boots from Wide Calf Boot Store. Even though I have my signature hoop earrings I may also slip on a necklace of some sort as silver looks gorgeous against red velvet!

Speaking of sequins and other fine fabrics check out my review of this amazing rose gold sequin dress also available from In The Style Curve. There really is something for everyone this season and you’ll be seeing more options from me too! Stay tuned for the final item in my velvet series but for now grab yourself a glass of something nice, and enjoy the festivities wherever you are!

Velvet Dreams

A plus size woman smiling wearing a crushed velvet dress, fish net tights and black leather wide calf boots

It’s the middle of December and we’ve seen snow, ice, rain and high winds. I personally like to make the most of this time of year even though I absolutely hate the cold! Velvet is a fabric that I love wearing, it’s so comfortable on the skin, adds a little extra glitz and glamour and also helps to keep the cold at bay. Every winter we see that velvet is something that continues to stay in fashion. T-shirts, dresses, tops, leggings…. you name it there is something out there for everyone. Blazers and jackets are available for both men and women and there are many ways to incorporate it into your look.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a crushed velvet dress, fish net tights and black leather wide calf bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing a crushed velvet dress, fish net tights and black leather wide calf boots

I love going through the wardrobe and finding items that you may have had for a while but never worn. A while back I got this emerald green crushed velvet wrap dress from Pink Clove. I love a bodycon dresses as much as the next woman, especially a wrap dress. There’s something about this cut of dress that suits every woman of all sizes and shapes. I own quite a bit of velvet but there’s something about emerald green and red velvet that specifically speaks to me. At the beginning of this year I spent some time in Finland and wore a classic vintage green dress in sumptuous velvet to Mimmi’s wedding. Check out my post about my Finnish winter.

I think that for this time of year velvet is such a nice fabric to wear at Christmas dinners and parties. The colour of this dress is really nice and such a gorgeous Christmasy shade that you just can’t go wrong. My plan was to wear this dress with my fishnet tights and Jilsen boots from Wide Calf Boot Store. Warmth, comfort and style are all factors that I consider when putting my outfits together. I also thought that because I wasn’t having the best hair day I would wear a black hair scarf to compliment by boots.

I love that sometimes a statement fabric can do all the talking that you want whilst keeping the other elements of an outfit rather simple. You simply can’t go wrong if you want a sassy, sexy and stylish look that is also easy to wear and works with a variety of accessories, shoes and jackets. I would probably wear this dress with my leather biker jacket if I was out and about for the day. Unfortunately this dress in particular is no longer available but there are some similar options from Pink Clove and all at fabulous prices so be sure to take a look.

Whatever your plans are this time of year there are many ways to dress sassy and stylish whilst keeping to a budget and being comfortable. If you plan to be out in the cold watching the fireworks at new year or going to fab parties in great locations you can look fabulous in one way or another. I’ll personally be celebrating the holidays in velvet, sequins and metallic items of course not all at the same time though lol.

Style Explorations

Sometimes when it comes to fashion clothing can be more than what we wear, it can be rather exciting. I love to branch out and wear a variety of styles and if you were to go through my wardrobes it would look like clothing for about 5 different women lol. My style changes with my mood and so I like to have items to pretty much suit every situation. I like to push boundaries at times and challenge my confidence. I often find that when I push myself out of my comfort zone my confidence is majorly boosted!

Hanna and I were on our way to view the latest lingerie and swimwear collections from Elomi a couple of weeks ago. When I attend press events I usually like to wear something from the brand i’m visiting, however I had no intention of walking the streets of London in my underwear! With that in mind I thought why not wear a lace top from Zizzi that I bought about a year ago. Most women have clothes that they have never worn before and this item was one of mine! Underneath I was wearing my Carmen lingerie set featuring plum coloured plunge bra. I figured that as I have no issue wearing dresses that highlight my cleavage what difference would this look make?!

We all have our own set of style rules that we choose to follow. In my case I don’t like to showcase both my legs and cleavage. I figure it’s best to balance everything out by going with one or the other. As it was a chilly November day in London I decided to pair this top with my gold metallic skirt from Lane Bryant (previously seen on the blog about a year ago). The funny thing I find is that when I wear daring items my confidence soars. Some people may find that they feel exposed or on display. For me I think it shows that only a confident woman would put her outfits together the way I do lol.

Coordination is the name of my game and so I decided to select items with gold adornments to finish off my look. Starting with my signature hoop earrings of course, pulling out my vanity boots from Hotter and wearing a black handbag showered in gold studs. The hint of purple in the bra is literally the only colour i’m wearing here other than black and gold lol. I actually got a lot of compliments for this outfit even though it is rather edgy. Of course I was feeling sassy, fierce and quite like the fashionista…

It’s always good when items you’ve had for a while are still very much in fashion and on trend for the season. That doesn’t matter though, I say wear what makes you feel amazing and confident. Don’t get caught up by the so called rules, unless of course you set these rules yourself! Experiment with what you wear, step outside of the box and try something new. You may surprise yourself with how your confidence improves!
