Style Explorations

A plus size woman smiling wearing a lace blouse, metallic pleated skirt, black gold studded bag and ankle boots

Sometimes when it comes to fashion clothing can be more than what we wear, it can be rather exciting. I love to branch out and wear a variety of styles and if you were to go through my wardrobes it would look like clothing for about 5 different women lol. My style changes with my mood and so I like to have items to pretty much suit every situation. I like to push boundaries at times and challenge my confidence. I often find that when I push myself out of my comfort zone my confidence is majorly boosted!

Hanna and I were on our way to view the latest lingerie and swimwear collections from Elomi a couple of weeks ago. When I attend press events I usually like to wear something from the brand i’m visiting, however I had no intention of walking the streets of London in my underwear! With that in mind I thought why not wear a lace top from Zizzi that I bought about a year ago. Most women have clothes that they have never worn before and this item was one of mine! Underneath I was wearing my Carmen lingerie set featuring plum coloured plunge bra. I figured that as I have no issue wearing dresses that highlight my cleavage what difference would this look make?!

A plus size woman smiling wearing a lace blouse, metallic pleated skirtA plus size woman wearing a lace blouse, metallic pleated skirt, black gold studded bag and ankle boots

We all have our own set of style rules that we choose to follow. In my case I don’t like to showcase both my legs and cleavage. I figure it’s best to balance everything out by going with one or the other. As it was a chilly November day in London I decided to pair this top with my gold metallic skirt from Lane Bryant (previously seen on the blog about a year ago). The funny thing I find is that when I wear daring items my confidence soars. Some people may find that they feel exposed or on display. For me I think it shows that only a confident woman would put her outfits together the way I do lol.

Coordination is the name of my game and so I decided to select items with gold adornments to finish off my look. Starting with my signature hoop earrings of course, pulling out my vanity boots from Hotter and wearing a black handbag showered in gold studs. The hint of purple in the bra is literally the only colour i’m wearing here other than black and gold lol. I actually got a lot of compliments for this outfit even though it is rather edgy. Of course I was feeling sassy, fierce and quite like the fashionista…

It’s always good when items you’ve had for a while are still very much in fashion and on trend for the season. That doesn’t matter though, I say wear what makes you feel amazing and confident. Don’t get caught up by the so called rules, unless of course you set these rules yourself! Experiment with what you wear, step outside of the box and try something new. You may surprise yourself with how your confidence improves!

It’s All About Love

A plus size woman smiling wearing a black love slogan sweater, a-line midi skirt and blue trainers

It’s the first week in December and with that comes talks of family, friends, gatherings and of course love. The UK is always buzzed this time of year but after hearing the news of Prince Harry’s engagement it seems love is something the whole country is thinking of. Mistletoe is hanging everywhere, romantic movies are on show. Parties, dinners and other celebrations are taking place all over the country…. And it’s no surprise that already a date is set for our favourite royal and wedding bells will be ringing in May. I am a huge fan of love in all of it’s forms and I enjoy wearing things to represent that. When I saw this cute off the shoulder sweater from Rose Gal I knew I wanted to try it. This one is available in red, white and grey also.

A plus size woman wearing a black love slogan sweater, a-line midi skirt and satin blue trainersA plus size woman smiling wearing a black love slogan sweater, a-line midi skirt and satin blue trainers

Sometimes you want a girly look with a twist. I paired this sweater with a pleather skirt from Zizzi that I was sent with some other samples. Deciding to keep everything black I thought i’d throw in a splash of colour in places. Wearing a cute pair of satin trainers in my favourite colour blue, these are from a recent Asos collection. When my clothes are black I like to wear red lipstick with my makeup.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a black love slogan sweaterSatin blue trainers

I’m a sucker for all things love related. I enjoy seeing people gather and sharing positive vibes. Being out and about seeing people romantically in love and doing kind things for others makes me smile. The funny thing is that in some cultures my name carries the meaning so maybe there’s something in that lol. At present I pretty much have a non existent romantic life. Not a woman who gets in my feelings about these things, I like to focus my energies on loving myself and those around me. Of course I start with trying to spend time learning and building my faith, eating right, sleeping well, exercising and taking the time to see friends and family. I won’t try to pretend to be perfect though, like everyone else I have my faults…

Things often happen that challenge how we see things. I’ve been doing my best to stay positive but things keep happening to make that difficult. Just a couple of days ago my eldest uncle passed away and this led me to again seeing the importance of family closeness and support for each other. Even sometimes when you mentally prepare for something the reality of it can still knock you for six. Honestly, I don’t know where I would be if I didn’t have people in my life who look out for me and show me that level of love and care. My new mission in life is fast becoming to be a support for others as best I can.

The aim is to encourage people everywhere to be confident, positive, motivating forces in their own lives. In a recent post I published on instagram I wrote “You would be surprised how many people are down, lonely and hurting in some way. The little things you can do for someone can mean more to them than you could possible know! A simple compliment or a smile can be all a person needs so be sure to spread your kindness as much as you can!” I guess you could say I have experience with dealing with negativity and can first hand speak on how you can be a blessing to someone without even really trying.

A plus size woman wearing a black love slogan sweater, a-line midi skirt and satin blue trainersA plus size woman smiling wearing a black love slogan sweater, a-line midi skirt and satin blue trainers

We should treat people the way we wish to be treated, this is something I truly believe. A simple act of kindness to someone can make the world of difference and is a great way of spreading the love!

Sequins And Sparkles

A plus size woman smiling wearing a pink sequin dress, wet look leggings and open toe nude heels

So the party season has well and truly begun! Work events are taking place, people are getting into the Christmas spirit and sparkles are starting to appear everywhere. I have a thing for sequins and have always enjoyed wearing them in the late part of the year. I really think that no matter what, every woman likes to feel glamorous from time to time. There are so many fun fabrics with gorgeous rich colours this season. I’m enjoying pinks and blush tones which is why this Madeline rose gold sequin t-shirt dress from In The Style Curve is going to making an appearance at an event i’ll be attending this year.

A plus size woman wearing a pink sequin dress, wet look leggings and open toe nude heelsA plus size woman wearing a pink sequin dress, wet look leggings and open toe nude heels

I have a thing for wearing bold prints and bright colours, especially in the winter months. What I love about this item is that it’s extremely comfortable, flattering and sexy. The freshness of the rose gold will stand out and look gorgeous at a Christmas party and this one can be worn as a single item or paired with cute tights or pants. There are many ways sequins can be worn and i’m a woman who isn’t afraid to wear them, in fact I love it!

A plus size woman smiling wearing a pink sequin dress, wet look leggings and open toe nude heelsA plus size woman smiling wearing a pink sequin dress, wet look leggings and open toe nude heels

This is the time of year when we all wanna look our best. Cameras are flashing capturing magic memories, glitz and glamour is everywhere… It’s also cuffing season so there is ample opportunity to meet someone special and even get them under the mistletoe. What better way is there to stand out than to walk into the room sparkling?! When I wear an item full of sequins I like to let the clothes do the talking for me. I selected this dress in size 24. It has a perfect fit for your dress size and plenty of stretch for those of us with boobs, bums and tums that need to be accounted for.

A plus size woman wearing a pink sequin dress, wet look leggings and open toe nude heelsa blush clutch bag with gold rind.A plus size woman smiling wearing a pink sequin dress, wet look leggings and open toe nude heels

Colour coordination is the name of my style game! Accessorising the outfit was easy to be honest. I selected a Faux leather clutch in blush colour that perfectly complimented the dress. Wet look leggings were a must with this outfit. Nude open toe heels were my shoe of choice as I wanted a simple but cute footwear option. I tied my hair in a cute top knot style and pulled on my large hoop earrings to finish off my idea of the perfect casual chic party outfit. Many jacket styles could be worn to battle the chill in the air if you’re out and about in a dress like this also.

Sequins, velvets and warm rich colours can brighten up your look and give you that little something extra to really make a great impression when you walk in the room. In The Style Curve have some fab selections so be sure to take a look! They’re going to be having some really hot discounts this Black Friday too!

Something Sweet

A plus size woman smiling wearing a denim pussybow shirt, faux leather skirt and heels

It’s that time of year when the winter cold has finally set in. We all struggle to figure out what to wear when battling the elements. I like to still bring in my style with the new season as well as dress in a comfortable and bright way. I love the blacks, greys and navys as much as the next girl, but sometimes something else is required. Don’t you wanna have that little something extra than everyone else in your outfit? Navabi reached out to me and sent me an amazing outfit of my choice and guess what, it can be yours too! Before we get into what I mean by that let me break down my look for you…

A plus size woman smiling wearing a denim pussybow shirt, faux leather skirt and heelsA plus size woman smiling wearing a denim pussybow shirt, faux leather skirt and heels

If you have been following my blog for a while you’ll know I have a thing for cute shirts! Pussybow shirts and tops have very much been the in style for a couple of years now. Marina Rinaldi are the brand behind this amazing one i’m wearing! Denim is a fabric with limited stretch and so like I do with all of my shirts I picked this one up in a larger size than what I would usually wear, size 26 to be exact. Those of us women with larger boobs have to accommodate for the fastening of buttons and the possibility of gaping. It should be noted that I wasn’t wearing the best bra when I took these photos. I was unwell at the time and comfort was my priority. It’s a really nice length though and can easily be worn with other skirts, trousers and jeans.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a denim pussybow shirt, faux leather skirt and heelsA plus size woman wearing a denim pussybow shirtA plus size woman wearing a denim pussybow shirt, faux leather skirt and heels

So the shirt was the first item I picked when putting this look together. You know me, I like items that can be worn in a variety of ways. I did however decide to select an item that would be great for the season and could be worn with other items in my closest. This led me to the fabulous a-line faux leather skirt in Bordeaux red colour. A warm colour perfect for both autumn and winter, especially the Christmas season. I already knew that I had a variety of lipstick shades that would make a perfect match! I also knew that I had the perfect pair of heels to compliment my look. This I selected in a size 24. I also selected a pair of 60 denier tights, size 24-26. Once the cold sets in it’s always good to have a nice pair to keep the chill at bay.

Now I’ve broken down my look and what led me to select these items here is where it comes to you! Navabi and I are give you the chance to win this entire outfit (apart from the heels lol). All you have to do is as follows, the winner will be selected at random and the outfit will be theirs! Good luck everyone!

General Sexy!

a plus size woman wearing an oversized camouflage jacket, t-shirt dress, ray-ban sunglasses and over the knee black heeled boots

So this season we are starting to see a variety of prints, colours and fabrics coming in for the winter. One print that is huge at the moment and has been for the past few weeks is of course camouflage! I have been really enjoying the options out there. Green and khaki prints are currently available everywhere and I’ve been having a good time styling them in my own way. In The Style Curve recently sent me their Sarah Ashcroft oversized jacket that makes me feel confident and full of attitude, a total boss chick. I recently wore this one in a look that made me feel like a sexy General!

When I think of camouflage, like most people thoughts of the military come to mind. The print that is synonymous with soldiers all over the world has been extremely popular in casual fashion for decades. Men and women have been able to incorporate this into their wardrobe in a variety of different ways. I personally started wearing camouflage not that long ago. I found that when it came to plus size fashion we were limited to what was out there and very few options suited my personal style.

The selection of options available for plus size and curvy women nowadays are sexy, funky, trendy and most of all comfortable. This jacket has some really fun distressed and edgy details with an oversized fit. Deep pockets, leather trim and bright yellow strip across the shoulders make this a really easy item to incorporate into many looks. I have this one in size 22/24 and for an oversized item it’s definitely true to size.

When I took these photos I decided to really hone in on the sexy General thing. Aviator sunglasses are one of my favourite styles and so I pulled on a pair of vintage Ray-Bans. As I like to colour coordinate what I wear I went for a black t-shirt dress, fish net tights, over the knee boots and my favourite shade of red lipstick! I really enjoyed this outfit. This look made me channel my inner boss bitch, sassy attitude and playful side.

It’s funny how certain clothing items can really affect your mood. In my opinion I find that fashion is a great way to purposefully channel an attitude or a vibe when you want to. If you’re in a mood where you really need to feel confident and in charge, clothing can make this happen. When i’m feeling bad or down I always go for that dress, lipstick or pair of shoes that makes me look and feel good. I guess that camouflage makes me feel extremely confident because I always feel fabulous when I have it on.

This is a jacket that has fast become one of my go-to items. I have worn this one with jeans, sweaters, leggings and skirts. Multipurpose items are always welcome in my wardrobe because they can be so versatile. We all have those items that can only be worn with that one pair of shoes or accessories… I really enjoy switching things up when I can. In The style Curve have a wide variety of items that can be worn in different ways. They really know how to come up with fun oversized styles. I recently reviewed one of their sweater  dresses that is still available on the site, check it out here.

Getting Shady In Winter Warmers

a plus size woman smiling wearing an off the shoulder sweater, white leggings and black heeled ankle boots

November has well and truly arrived. It is officially cold and so that means that it’s time for us to start wrapping up and battling the elements! I was recently sent some fab clothes from Yours Clothing just in time for the colder season. I have some fun casual items that can work with a variety of outfits including warm knitwear. This is the time of year when there are 3000 things to do and not enough hours in the day. You’ll find yourself running around to work events, parties, running errands etc. When things get hectic we all like to be comfortable but I still like to look good in the process.

a plus size woman smiling wearing an off the shoulder sweater, white leggings and black heeled ankle bootsa plus size woman smiling wearing an off the shoulder sweater, white leggings and black heeled ankle boots

Sweaters these days have really come a long way. We used to wear items like this purely for comfort and warmth. Now we are lucky enough to have some cute, fun even sexy options. I read somewhere that the sexiest part of a woman’s body is the decolletage so it’s nice to have the shoulders and collar bone exposed. A small amount of flesh revealed can be sexy in a modest way. I really love this sweater from the Limited collection. The swooping off the shoulder neckline, thick fabric and distressed element adds some edge to a simple item. This makes for a really fun basic item that will work with a variety of clothing items for many looks. I picked this up in a size 24.

Leggings, every woman has a pair, every woman likes these for easy and comfortable fashion. I tend to gravitate towards wet look leggings and I have about 9 pairs to be honest with you lol. I had never worn a pair of white ones before but I figured as I wear white jeans why not get a pair of white leggings? I chose this pair in a size 26. I find that with leggings it’s better to up-size. When you have a large bum and a sizeable belly like I do you don’t want the fabric to stretch so much that it gets see-through. This pair is high waisted and full of stretch. And of course black or white items work with most looks.

a plus size woman wearing a black sweater, white leggings and holding a baby blue backpacka plus size woman wearing white leggings and black heeled ankle bootsa plus size woman smiling wearing an off the shoulder sweater, white leggings and black heeled ankle boots holding a backpack

I like many women love wearing a cute pair of heels. This is the time of year when one might wanna slip on a pair of heels but the cold chill in the air can make that an off putting prospect. I like ankle boots as they provide that sexiness to an outfit but can be worn with thermal tights, socks etc. This pair has a nice height, are really comfortable and work with pretty much anything you wanna pair them with. There is a flexi-sole making this an easy pair to walk in too.

I’m a woman who’s always on the go so I need a bag of some kind to carry my makeup, money, phone, keys etc. I wanted something with a little splash of colour and what better way for me than to pick something blue?! This small quilted backpack is really practical and is an item I can wear with items in all seasons due to the fresh colour. It comes in one size and will work for anyone who needs to carry more than the essentials with them.

So there are many ways to be fun and casual while the weather changes. I have several items from yours that are great to wrap up in. Check out my post featuring camouflage prints and khaki colours. Silver Is The Way!

A plus size woman smiling wearing a crushed velvet t-shirt

When it comes to fashion trends I tend to take on elements of what’s popular. One trend that totally captured me this season is silver fashion! Metallic clothing items really bring some fun edginess to a look, they work in all seasons and give ladies like me that little extra shine we love! Another trend that has really taken a life of it’s own this season is fun velvet. Elvi recently gave me the opportunity to review one of their items. You can only imagine my thoughts when I got the chance to combine the 2 trends not only in an outfit but a single item!

A plus size woman smiling wearing a leather mini skirt, crushed velvet t-shirt and silver high heelsA plus size woman smiling wearing a leather mini skirt, crushed velvet t-shirt and silver high heels

The nude gold coloured velvet of this t-shirt is easily worked into a variety of outfits. I like that it’s a neutral shade and compliments all skin tones. The velvet is light on the skin but has a nice amount of stretch also. I’m wearing this one in a size 24. I am currently obsessed with not just silver items but chrome silver! The different sized chrome loops are a really fun feature on the pocket of the t-shirt. They add that little something extra to the item that makes it stand out.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a crushed velvet t-shirtA plus size woman smiling wearing a leather mini skirt, crushed velvet t-shirt and silver high heels

When I got this top I knew that I had the perfect pair of heels to wear with it. I had been hunting for a pair of silver chrome stiletto heels since I had seen that the trend was coming several seasons ago! The challenge was finding an affordable pair that was comfortable and sexy at the same time. I found this pair at Asos several weeks ago. Unfortunately they are sold out but here is a similar pair if you want a pair of your own.

A woman wearing silver high heels and fish net tightsA plus size woman smiling, sitting, wearing a leather mini skirt, crushed velvet t-shirt and silver high heelsA woman wearing silver high heels and fish net tights

When it comes to velvet items they tend to bring out my sexy side. Feeling fun, flirty and a very fashionable makes dressing all the more enjoyable. In completing this outfit I wanted a really simple selection of colours. Black goes with everything of course so I selected a leather skirt, fish net tights and my largest silver hoop earrings. I have a range of style ideas when it comes to wearing this top. It can be worn with jeans, wet-look leggings and all kinds of skirts.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a leather mini skirt, crushed velvet t-shirt and silver high heelsA plus size woman smiling wearing a leather mini skirt, crushed velvet t-shirt and silver high heels

I think it’s important to select clothing items that make you feel confident, comfortable and fabulous. I find that even when pushing the boundaries there are ways to expand and experiment. You may have noticed I’ve been wearing a lot of skirts lately. I guess you could say I’m trying to improve my skirt game and get that bit more confident in showcasing my legs. There are many ways of playing around with fashion so get to trying I say!

A plus size woman smiling wearing a leather mini skirt, crushed velvet t-shirt and silver high heelsA plus size woman smiling wearing a leather mini skirt, crushed velvet t-shirt and silver high heels

I’m going to start as I mean to go on and will be on the hunt for more silver and velvet items. The party season is coming with Halloween, Christmas and New Years so why not?! Shiny things and glamorous velvet are perfect for the winter and will always work year in year out!

Speaking of Silver you may remember earlier in the year I wore a fabulous trench coat. This was another fab item from Elvi. Check out their current collection for some fab edgy styles this season.

Going To Bootcamp – A Yours Clothing Review

A plus size woman wearing camouflage jeans, khaki sweater, black backpack and black boots

Sometimes life can present many challenges. I know I’m not the only one who can find things pretty tough sometimes. Work may be stressful, the love life could be in the toilet, money is sometimes tight… whatever the case may be you could feel like it’s just too much! Ever feel like you need to just set some goals and reevaluate the situation? We’ve all been there in some way, shape or form. I personally have been trying to give myself a bit of a kick up the bum. I’m 30 years old now and although life is pretty good things can always get better. Metaphorically speaking you could say I’m putting myself through bootcamp! I’m working on my health and fitness, career is going well and i’m doing what I can to be a better friend and daughter. Dressing for the occasion khaki camouflage was my style choice.

A plus size woman smiling carrying a black backpack wearing camouflage jeans, khaki sweater and black bootsA plus size woman carrying a black backpack wearing khaki camouflage jeans, khaki sweater and black boots

I like my clothing to represent my mood. As i’m going through my personal changes I figured why not pick a transitional outfit that is not only perfect for the season, but for my life also. Yours Clothing got in touch with me recently and asked if I’d like to select some items. I’m a jeans girl, always have been always will be! These khaki camouflage skinny jeans caught my eye when I had first seen them. Usually I wear some sort of plain coloured jean, the most adventurous being some sort of acid wash. Opting to have a little more colour in my wardrobe I picked these in size 24. I have to say the fit is really good, these are high waisted with plenty of stretch.

Plus size camouflage jeans, and black bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing a cold shoulder khaki sweater and black backpack

Walking is something I do a lot of and so, good shoes are required. I love a pair of Chelsea boots and figured these would make for a fun bootcamp style look. As much as I like to dress to my mood, it’s fun to be on trend too. For the past few years cold shoulder items have been hugely popular and they still are! With that being said we all need to be prepared for the colder weather and so I figured this sweater would be a nice addition to the outfit. I decided I wanted an oversized fit and so I picked this one in size 26/28. I should note it’s also available in Dusky Pink.

A plus size woman smiling wearing camouflage jeans, khaki sweater, black backpack and black bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing khaki camouflage jeans, khaki sweater, black backpack and black bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing camouflage jeans, khaki sweater and black backpack

We all have those essential items that we take everywhere! A water bottle, wallet, phone charger, makeup etc. I like a bag that can fit it all in that is easy to wear. Black bags suit almost every outfit. A backpack is both comfortable and practical and is a great item for the autumn and winter months. This medium size one can fit quite a few items and has an internal compartment also, perfect for your keys!

A plus size woman holding a black backback wearing khaki camouflage jeans, khaki sweater and black bootsA plus size woman sitting smiling wearing khaki camouflage jeans, khaki sweater and black boots

It was fun putting this outfit together. For me it’s a lot more casual than my day to day style allows for but sometimes that’s needed. Of course I had to include a little femininity where possible so I have my pinup style eye makeup as usual, hoop earrings and a purple lipstick. I’m wearing the aptly named Berry Bossy shade 886 from Maybelline New York.

A plus size woman smiling wearing khaki camouflage jeans, khaki sweater and black boots

I think if I was actually being sent off to bootcamp I would be ready and dressed for the task! I find that with life’s changes and challenges the important thing is to keep an open mind, embrace the change and make the most of the situation. Hopefully in the next few weeks and months I’ll be reporting on some really positive things that are happening but for now I’m gonna buckle up and work hard. After all the best things are worth working hard for!

A Different Kind Of Flare

A plus size woman smiling wearing a floral flared dress and over the knee high boots

When it comes to dresses I tend to look for something fresh, fun and a little sexy. Sometimes you just want to be able to step into a room feeling bold, confident, sexy and understated all at the same time. In The Style Curve have a wide variety of dresses, many of which are casual and others that are more suited to dressy occasions. When I saw this flared dress with floral print it caught my eye. I was looking for something that could be easily dressed up or down that had a little something different. I really liked that the colouring was simple and the item could work with a variety of accessories. As I always say multi purpose items can always be a great addition to the wardrobe.

A plus size woman wearing a floral flared dress and over the knee high bootsA plus size woman wearing a floral dress with flared sleevesA plus size woman smiling wearing a floral dress with flared sleeves

I love that the dress has buttons right the way down the front to allow you the option of being covered up or having an exposed cleavage. Fluted and flared sleeves are very much all the rage at the moment. The wide cut of the arms and sleeves are available for women of all shapes and sizes. Items that would otherwise be a little basic are brought to life with the added character that the shape allows. I personally find that even though there is added fabric there is a sexiness that flared sleeves bring to a look.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a floral flared dress and over the knee high bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing a floral flared dress and over the knee high boots

I really like the floral print of this dress as it’s a simple beige wash over a black base. The added cinch belt helps to accentuate the waist also. This is an item I could wear in any season. It’s cool enough to wear on a hot or warm day and airy enough to be comfortable in the summertime. Having said all of that I wore it out to dinner last week with black velvet leggings and champagne kitten heels. When I took these pictures the aim was to create a look that was both covered up and sexy. Over the knee boots are a lot of fun to wear and can add a sultry feel to an outfit. This is my favourite pair from a previous Lane Bryant collection and funnily enough, I wore them when I reviewed the Karina dress (still available) from the brand.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a floral flared dressA plus size woman smiling wearing a floral flared dress A plus size woman wearing a floral flared dress and over the knee high boots

Fashion has a way of making you feel emotions and different moods. I like to be expressive with what I wear and channel the different attributesof my personality. This outfit makes me feel cute, sophisticated, girly and sexy all at once! Simplicity was what I was aiming for when putting this look together. Less is most definitely more, flared sleeves and over the knee boots make a pretty big statement on their own! Showing my legs is not something I feel too confident doing so boots like this help me do so whilst feeling covered up.

It’s All About The Ruffles

Don’t you just love it when you find an item of clothing that you can wear in many different ways? A few months back, I was at a preview for some fresh new styles for AW17. Block colours, fun prints and bold cuts were on display for us to see. Navabi is a brand that carries a collection of styles from a wide selection of plus size brands, each with their own flair and all with quality and originality at the forefront of their ethos. One of my very own blogging sisters Bethany aka Arched Eyebrow designed one of their current collections. You can see my review of her hot pink pussy bow blouse here. In truth the cobalt blue items were of course ones I wanted to try out but it was the pink lines that most captivated me, especially this ruffled gingham shirt.

What immediately caught my eye was of course the baby pink gingham. As a huge lover of vintage fashion, gingham contributes to some of my favourite rockabilly and retro looks. The freshness of the colouring with this shirt made the item a transitional piece in my view. I opted to wear a denim mini skirt and high heels with this one but I could see myself styling it in many ways. This could make for a fun and vibrant item in the office or a fun casual item. I could even see this one being worn with a little cowgirl magic for a fab rodeo feel. Bethany 100% has a style of her own and these ruffles are most definitely her!

Trying to find ways to make a classic piece like a shirt have something different can be a huge challenge. The cut and shape of this ruffled gingham shirt is flattering on women of all shapes, sizes, and colours. What I like is that the ruffles bring something fresh and new to whatever you match the shirt with. In my case I wanted a rodeo cowgirl look with a twist. Gingham is something I tend to pair with fun bandanas and cute handbags but I thought i’d let the shirt do the talking this time.

People often assume that I have spades of confidence which I do, but we all have those areas we need to work on. In my case I struggle to show my legs. I hate that they’re covered in scars from playful times in my childhood and aren’t as shapely as I’d like. With all that being said I have always decided to throw myself into the deep end and showcase the very thing I hate to push the boundaries where my confidence lies. This has always helped me in overcoming those personal demons. It helps when you have a baby pink ruffled gingham shirt on with statement shoulders! I find that if you have on an item with a statement colour or cut, the focus is geared to that area. I also find myself feeling more comfortable in that situation.

If you’re looking for something bright and colourful this AW17 then you have to check out the collection by Bethany. Who said autumn and winter has to be dressed in black?! If like me you enjoy bringing colour to the colder months of the year you won’t be disappointed.
