Just Checking Things Out

I don’t think there’s a woman anywhere who doesn’t want to look and feel good in her clothes. We all love stylish fashion items. I personally try to find pieces I can wear both casually or dressy. In The Style Curve is one of my favourite brands and they have a wide variety of items. What I love about the brand is that a large amount of their standard size range is also available in the Curve collection. They have really helped me to embrace my love of checked items. In fact almost all of my checked pieces come from them! With that being said, you can understand why I had to have this t-shirt dress.

What caught my eye with this one is how easy to style it is. It would work really well on it’s own with some cute heels as a mini dress or as I’ve styled it here as a tunic style top. If you prefer a little more length, skinny jeans or leggings are a great compliment to the item. I always like to size up with dresses like this due to having a large bust, behind and stomach. I got this one in a size 26. You can wear this dress in a sexy way by having your legs out. I personally wanted to wear it more modestly.

It’s no secret that I have a thing for shiny items. I love silver earrings, silver accessories and of course silver shoes! I now have around 5 pairs! Evans Clothing have the most incredible platformed loafers and they are incredibly comfortable. The soles are soft with a padded cushion feel. These are so comfortable to walk in too. A great pair of shoes for the office or as part of the general wardrobe. These black leggings are also from Evans. They have a thick elasticated feel that pulls you in at all the right places. I love how high waisted they are and the little added details like the zippers at the ankle.

In The Style Curve make such fab checked items. I have even worn some of them on the blog before. Check out this post featuring a Binky Shirt dress. You can keep it simple and be fun with your outfits. Just play around with colours and simple pairings to create a comfortable and fun look.

Monochrome Edge

When it comes to our choice in fashion some things never get old! I honestly don’t remember a time in my life when I haven’t loved wearing monochrome outfits. There’s just something about black and white fashion that does it for me. Firstly colour coordination is the name of my style game. Black and white items always make for hot staple pieces in the wardrobe and always make things convenient when you’re on the go.

Yours Clothing recently got in touch with me and asked me if I would like to select a few items in their current collection. The first thing I saw was this hot black and white stripe shirt. The item to me worked as both a hot item I could wear to the office but also something I could switch up. Reminiscent of a referee shirt, the slightly loose fit and double thick stripes were what caught my attention. Due to the fact that I have a large bust I always up-size with shirts or front fastening items. Wearing this one in a size 26/28 I not only have plenty of room and feel comfortable in the light weight item but I find that when I want a more of a modest look this fit is perfect. A monochrome item in and of itself!

Now those of you who know me know that I can be as girly and demure as the next woman but I do love my edgy items. Shiny things have always caught my eye. The thing is, I like wearing bright and garish things despite the fact that some people think us big women shouldn’t. Latex, vinyl and wet look items have been available from plus brands everywhere. Perfect if you like monochrome looks. Vinyl and wet look leggings just happen to be something I have a slight obsession with. I selected this pair in a size 26/28 because fabrics of this style have little to no stretch. Vinyl isn’t breathable on the skin either. You can see by my photos that I could have selected these in a size 24 for a more tailored fit.

I never used to be a woman phased much by footwear but that has changed over time. I did think when I was younger that you only needed 1 pair of black boots. Laughable when I think about it now. I have casual boots, sexy boots, sophisticated boots and those I can wear anywhere. This pair of heeled ankle boots had an edge to them that I really like. I should note that I find these extremely comfortable and could see myself walking a fair distance in them. I think that they compliment this outfit really well.

When it comes to my wardrobe I like a little bit of everything. Black and white items we all know go with every colour out there but there’s just something funky about putting them with each other. Monochrome suits every person on the planet. You simply can’t go wrong! You will definitely see more of the style from me in the future!

Getting Shady In Winter Warmers

November has well and truly arrived. It is officially cold and so that means that it’s time for us to start wrapping up and battling the elements! I was recently sent some fab clothes from Yours Clothing just in time for the colder season. I have some fun casual items that can work with a variety of outfits including warm knitwear. This is the time of year when there are 3000 things to do and not enough hours in the day. You’ll find yourself running around to work events, parties, running errands etc. When things get hectic we all like to be comfortable but I still like to look good in the process.

Sweaters these days have really come a long way. We used to wear items like this purely for comfort and warmth. Now we are lucky enough to have some cute, fun even sexy options. I read somewhere that the sexiest part of a woman’s body is the decolletage so it’s nice to have the shoulders and collar bone exposed. A small amount of flesh revealed can be sexy in a modest way. I really love this sweater from the Limited collection. The swooping off the shoulder neckline, thick fabric and distressed element adds some edge to a simple item. This makes for a really fun basic item that will work with a variety of clothing items for many looks. I picked this up in a size 24.

Leggings, every woman has a pair, every woman likes these for easy and comfortable fashion. I tend to gravitate towards wet look leggings and I have about 9 pairs to be honest with you lol. I had never worn a pair of white ones before but I figured as I wear white jeans why not get a pair of white leggings? I chose this pair in a size 26. I find that with leggings it’s better to up-size. When you have a large bum and a sizeable belly like I do you don’t want the fabric to stretch so much that it gets see-through. This pair is high waisted and full of stretch. And of course black or white items work with most looks.

I like many women love wearing a cute pair of heels. This is the time of year when one might wanna slip on a pair of heels but the cold chill in the air can make that an off putting prospect. I like ankle boots as they provide that sexiness to an outfit but can be worn with thermal tights, socks etc. This pair has a nice height, are really comfortable and work with pretty much anything you wanna pair them with. There is a flexi-sole making this an easy pair to walk in too.

I’m a woman who’s always on the go so I need a bag of some kind to carry my makeup, money, phone, keys etc. I wanted something with a little splash of colour and what better way for me than to pick something blue?! This small quilted backpack is really practical and is an item I can wear with items in all seasons due to the fresh colour. It comes in one size and will work for anyone who needs to carry more than the essentials with them.

So there are many ways to be fun and casual while the weather changes. I have several items from yours that are great to wrap up in. Check out my post featuring camouflage prints and khaki colours. All Girls Love Pink

*Top Leggings And Shoes Were Gifted Items

You know it’s funny  how some things you just can’t seem to get used to. Take London for example, I have lived in this crazy city my entire life and I still struggle with what to wear between the months of September and October. See you would think that we would be well into the autumn season by now but the truth is, we had a pretty hot September and October has shown itself to be a very confused month weather-wise. We’ve had hot bursts of sunshine, rain and even winter cold. Many people are making the choice to eliminate all colour from their wardrobes, opting for a more dark and sophisticated selection during the season.

I personally love wearing black I always have as I find it to be one of the easiest block colours to play with. I too tend to wear many darker colours this time of year but I enjoy bringing in a sharp burst of colour to wake up an outfit. One colour I don’t have much of but always enjoy wearing is pink. I really like the way it works with my complexion and I find it can be a great colour to soften a look. I thought it would be cool to wear this baby pink asymmetrical frill top from Evans. What first drew me to this top when selecting it for review was the frill detail. I’m not a huge fan of hanky hem designs but this one really caught my attention. I really like how much longer it is at the back compared to the front and I found that this was a really comfortable top to wear both causally and professionally. As much as I enjoy showcasing a little cleavage now and then it is nice to be able to wear a modest design you can cleverly accessorise to spice up the style.

As there is a chill in the air at the moment I decided to pair this one with one of my old favourites, my black longline cardigan from a previous Yours Clothing collection. I love layering blacks and so it was a no brainer for me to wear this look with the best pair of leggings I have ever owned! One thing about sharing a love of fashion with one of your best friends is when you share info about new and interesting brands and styles. Hanna recently introduced me to a small indie brand from Finland, Excuse My Bon Bon. They create modern and fresh clothes for us curvy girls and have a great motto that goes along with the clothes. “Excuse my bon bon” is something I personally took to mean ‘excuse my big booty while I rock these hot clothes! The brand say ‘it is an attitude that helps you focus on the good, to make way for the curves and enjoy the chocolates without a guilty conscience’. I love that their focus is on how you feel in the clothes. I find if you feel good in what you’re wearing the clothes they will look great regardless! It just so happens that they have a really chic and sexy range of high quality garments to suit all shapes.

Their Lina leggings are an incredible fit, featuring a high waist with rubber band elasticated panels that smooth and lift your behind whilst pretty much working as spanx to the stomach. I have to say they are extremely comfortable and are a nice thick material perfect for the colder days. I really like the thick seam detail  across the front of the legs too. In keeping with selecting black items to complete this look my Michelle heels from Hotter were my shoe of choice and a black paisley bandana for my hair. Silver is always my go-to jewellery colour and so I thought my love hearts matching necklace and drop earrings would be a fun and girly addition to the look and my sparkly silver clutch with chain strap.

Like many women out there I often carry my shades with me just in case there’s a nice burst of sunshine and so I had what I call my “Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis” shades from D&G with me. I love a pair of large tinted shades. They not only work on sunny days but also on those days when you have the outfit together but don’t quite have time to fix your eye makeup lol.
