Another Part Of Me

A lot has been happening recently. I’ve been on a train that just doesn’t seem to want to stop with loads of things happening with the blog, a busy work schedule and making an effort to pack in more time with family friends. Whilst things have been hectic and a lot has been shifting and changing; I’ve had a lot of time to reflect and evaluate on some things, of course the first thing that needed some personal attention…me.

I’ve experienced a year that has been full of drama and so I had to take some time to take care of a few personal health issues. With all the time I’ve had to address with regards to my body I have also been looking at how I think about myself and, how I treat myself. I’ve come to realise that being in my twenties has been a really awkward period. Of course you hear people speak about how much they loved this time in their life and how they wish they could re-live it all. In my case i’m really looking forward to getting into my thirties. I have heard many women say that this is the decade when you really start to embrace yourself, find your feet and really take life by the reigns. I’m in the final year of my twenties and with that I have lost some very special people in my life, made some incredible friends, seen some amazing countries and ended some personal and professional relationships. The one thing I have spent a lot of time on the past few years is building my self confidence.

I spent many years working as a professional singer and musician alongside doing boring and mundane day jobs. Music is and will always be my biggest passion and I will always spend my days and nights with something amazing playing along and surely enough, becoming the soundtrack to some of my memories. I miss the stage, I do. It’s not something I’ve hidden but the truth is, in time I came to realise that the music industry is full of many corrupt people and circumstances and I never wanted anything to dull my love of the craft or the art form. With this and my increasing age I decided to keep music as a huge love and passion that I will always create and perform but without putting so much pressure on myself.

Confidence is something that for me comes with experience. People who have known me forever will say that I have an abundant amount of it but in truth that would only be in some areas of my life. I can take a stage and sing at full force in front of as many as fifteen thousand people and do it with conviction and confidence. Why is this? Music is what I do and it’s one of the things I know how to do best and something I have always excelled in. Having said all of that everyone knows that a huge part of a good performance is the look of the performer, whether that be in their clothing, make up or body type. The music industry is one that appreciates and puts a strong emphasis on image, beauty and sex appeal. Many years ago talent was at the forefront but as we came into this new century in some parts of the world this took a back seat to image.

I was always aware of my weight and my dress size and until I reached 25 years old, this affected every area of my day to day life especially my life on stage. I have always loved fashion and it wasn’t until I started to really see myself as a beautiful, sexy woman that I embraced fashion for myself and didn’t just appreciate it on others. Pushing myself out of my comfort zone and into new circumstances is how I build my confidence. I started with bright and bold colours, edgy and fresh clothing options and wearing clothes that previously I would have been to scared to even try on! I felt empowered, liberated and fun and, with this my blog was born 3 years ago. I try to get women to see what they can do with their look despite whatever demons they may have to face from their past or present life using myself as an example.

A few months ago I was challenged once again when financial circumstances and the voices of many friends encouraged me to wear my hair natural. I spoke about his in detail in my ‘Back To My Roots‘ post. Being of mixed race I have always made the joke that my hair is the blackest part of me lol. My hair totally natural, right out of the shower without blow dryers, wide tooth combs and various products shrinks down into a tight Jackson 5 style afro! I have what’s described as 4C hair; meaning that I have an undefined curl type and my hair is extremely tight, coarse and can be rather dry. I decided to do a photoshoot to mark the final year of my twenties and so, I returned to the studio that shot me on my milestone 21st year; Studio 52. In many ways I feel I have come full circle and have learned to really love every part of myself including my insane fro and, even though I will always enjoy wearing a good wig or weave, I wanted to shoot myself without any barriers and so I donned a full afro!

A couple of shots from my shoot marking my 21st year with Studio 52

For clothing I decided to wear some hot an sexy items from one of my favourite brands Lane Bryant. Wearing their Lightweight Strapless Bra with detachable straps (the first ever strapless bra I have found with perfect fit and support). With this I pulled on their Point D’Espirit Tie-Neck Top. I don’t wear this one as well as Ashley Graham but I still had to have it myself lol. I thought a pair of wet look leggings that I’ve had for ages would go great for the look I was after. Finishing off with these amazing Over The Knee Faux Suede Boots, some large gold hoops and I was set. I wanted to bring out the R&B diva in me, only this time with a new swag and new found confidence.

By and large i’m still the same woman i’ve always been, only a little older and now with a new perspective of life, myself and others. You know what I always say…

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

One Step From The Sun

*This Is A Gifted Outfit

Hey everyone, I hope you’re enjoying the autumn season and getting into the festivities that are taking place out there. I personally like to spend as much time as I can playing around in the leaves, enjoying the amazing food and of course the fashion! At the moment I’m going through an experimental phase when it comes to my look. I still have those elements that will always creep into my outfits but recently I have been trying to get the most out of the bright days as possible, especially seeing as it gets pitch dark before 5pm! I have been lucky though, there have been some great options out there both on the high street and online.

The UK’s longest running fashion brand to cater to curvy girls is of course Evans. I have been shopping there for as long as I can remember and I have to say their options have expanded so much over the years! They have been collaborating with a series of brands, new and innovative designers and at expanding their collections with each season. Just a few days ago I was at the SS17 press event by Arcadia and there are some incredible new lines coming next year. Top Shop in addition to their amazing clothes have an incredible new makeup range, Dotty P are playing around with a series of beautiful feminine styles (there is a silver pair of stilettos I must have) and of course Evans are bringing us fabulous denim, funky florals, dainty lace items and a series of botanical prints.

Recently I was given the opportunity to pull some looks from their current collection and I have to say it took me an age to make my picks as the options were just endless! There was something for everyone with a strong and large range of sparkly and dazzling threads for the upcoming party season. I will be sharing many of these items with you right here on the blog in the very near future, but to start with I went with some items that can be adapted into a series of both casual and dressy looks. Hanna and I decided to go to lunch on a Sunday afternoon and of course took full advantage of the warm sunshine. I was wearing this incredible Black Animal Print Shirt Dress from Live Unlimited. The oversized shirt dress has hanky hem detail and a long fitted cami underneath. This is one that could easily be worn open as a duster jacket or worn as more of a floaty dress i’m wearing this in a size 22. I decided to put it with a pair of the Ultra Stretch Skinny Jeans, size 24 (a must have item) and I was almost set. I really like the length of this one and the loose feel and have found this can also transition into a more sophisticated outfit perfect for the work environment.

There are only a few days left where we can pull out sunnies and incorporate them into our outfits. I am a huge aviator fan and I have probably around 6 or 7 pairs! I won’t lie, ever since I saw Michael Jackson rock these as a kid I have been obsessed with them so when Ray-Ban brought out a pair of gorgeous mirrored shades in a series of colours I wanted a pair! The blue ones of course were the colour I fell in love with and I was lucky to have been given this amazing pair on my birthday by Hanna and Sarah. My hair has been in small tight twists for a couple of days so my curls were extremely tight and small, making my hair look slightly shorter, what better excuse does a girl need to show off her favourite pair! I also love that the blue tints bring out some of the blue undertones in the shirt dress.

I’m proud to say that my shoe collection is starting to grow and take some shape. I have to admit I put a lot less attention to my footwear than I do my clothes but recently I have found myself drawn to some really fun and interesting footwear. I like to feel comfortable when I’m out and about so this amazing pair of woven slip on sneakers from Lane Bryant were my shoes of choice.  A really bouncy and fun shoe that made for a great casual feel.

A simple long chain, my hoop earrings with some basic makeup and I was ready and set for my day. I like to be playful in my style and whilst keeping things simple sometimes I still try to wear an outfit with a bit of flair. As the cold starts to creep in i’ll have to play around with some more sweaters and jackets but while the sun still continues to shine I will most definitely include some light and floaty options into my look.

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

From Summer To Fall

*Skirt And Shoes Are Gifted Items

It’s official, summer is over and we are well and truly into Autumn. For me one of the things I hate about this time of year is not being able to wear some of my summer threads that have made their way into my wardrobe. This past weekend we experienced a final burst of summer heat and with that I knew it was time to finally take some pictures in a couple of my favourite summer looks. This beautiful print circle skirt is a an item I have had for a few weeks now that was sent to me by the amazing American plus size brand, Lane Bryant. I have to say their summer collection this year was just gorgeous, there were so many amazing items I had my eye on, this skirt was one of many.

I took a look look at my wardrobe and a realised that one thing I lack, is great skirts! I love skirts but for some reason I have been gravitating towards pretty dresses. The thing is though, skirts make for a great separate they can be adapted into a variety of looks and styles, be made suitable for business or personal endeavours and, can work as a fabulous signature item in an outfit. I love the midi length and the gorgeous coral colour with peach shapes. The are 2 pockets in this skirt which are pretty deep and would be great for holding your phone or some cash while you’re on the go. I wanted a summery and casual look so I paired this skirt with a simple grey t-shirt and coral statement necklace. I look forward to experimenting more with this one and seeing if I can incorporate it into some autumn looks.

I love a good pair of heels, I find that just like a great staple item in the closet they too can be paired with a variety of styles and looks. I was recently given an opportunity by Hotter to visit their Bromley store and select a new pair of shoes for review. I have to say their AW16 range is really gorgeous this year. There are so many nice shoes, boots and heels for the season; each pair in a series of colours. I selected the Georgette shoes in pale bronze colour. I love the metallic shimmer detail and the gorgeous champagne tone. I find that with shoes they also needed to be treated in the way your wardrobe is. Every woman in the land would say you need to have a little black dress in the range and I feel that with shoes not only are black heels a must, but so are nude tones! When you want a shoe to work in with a pale outfit, sometimes black can be a little harsh and nude tones not only work with most colours and skin complexions, they create a really gorgeous soft feel in the shoe.

What drew me to this pair firstly is that they are the same height and shape as the Michelle heel from a previous collection. As you know I have worn those heels so many times on this blog we have all lost count lol. The truth is that they are my go-to heel, not only for their amazing comfort but because they are high enough to look sexy yet modest, but adaptable enough to work with a series of looks. I knew instantly the Georgette heels would be a good choice. This time though, Hotter have yet enhanced their amazing technology and the insoles have an even more cushioned and airy feel. The softness and bounce of the soles adds an extra spring to your step and being even more comfortable than any heel in the previous collections. These are also available in a beautiful navy and black colourways.

Summer may be over and the cold is starting to creep it’s way into the days but you know what I always say, have fun in what you wear! I still plan on bringing in bright and fun colours and prints to my looks and will enjoy playing around with some fun winter styles. Stay tuned….

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Blue And Distressed

*This outfit was gifted

Sometimes despite what the weather is doing you just want to be casual and comfortable. In my case I still try to bring in a little of my signature elements even to the simplest of looks. I was out for a walk in the park and so I decided to go for a sports luxe sort of look. I was recently sent some amazing items from Lane Bryant and one of them was this incredible Luster tee in metallic blue. You all know my love of all things blue and so for such a simple tee this for me was a must have item. I am wearing this in a size 22/24 as I wanted a slightly oversized fit. I have to say Lane are doing a lot to empower all curvy girls out there with their #plusisequal and #imnoangel campaigns. The brand has a host of styles to suit all women out there from the smallest of plus sizes right the way to the largest and I have to say I am loving it!

I decided to pair the tee with a pair of distressed white jeans designed by Hollywood actress Melissa McCarthy, these jeans were previously available at Evans. I’m wearing these in a size 24 but could have gone for a 22 or even 20 for a skinny fit. There are some great options available so be sure to check them out on the Evans website. I love the ripped effect on the jeans and the fringed detail at the hem of the legs. In these pictures I turned up the jeans at the bottom to highlight my shoes. I have always been a fan of white jeans and these I have to say are the first pair I have owned in about 7 years! For a long time there hasn’t been a pair on the market that I wanted to get my hands on but there is just something about this style of jeans that grabbed me. I have to say the denim is really soft on the skin and is amazingly comfortable to wear.

In keeping with the theme of casual and sporty I decided to wear my holographic trainers from a previous Primark collection. I of course decided to go for a navy blue bandana for a fun and comfortable look and as an additional blue piece. My usual large hoop earrings and I was pretty much set. I have had a lot of fun wearing these items and have paired them with a variety of looks. The jeans have worked as a basic staple that have been worn with monochrome styles and block colour tops. I even wore these with a pair of nude heels, my pleather biker jacket and a stylish top for an evening look. I will have to take some more photos to show you guys what I came up with.

I was at a recent blogger event held by Navabi and I attended wearing the Luster Tee, some wet look leggings, my Vanity boots from Hotter and my pleather biker jacket from Yours Clothing. The same navy bandana was my chosen colour of the day with my usual makeup and hoop earrings. I of course was trying on a series of items from the Navabi collection and they too went amazingly well with the top.

I think there are so many fun and interesting ways that you can work a simple tee or a pair of jeans into your look. Don’t be afraid to experiment, sometimes the results can not only be extremely comfortable and can easily lend themselves into a day or night time look. We’re still experiencing the strong burst of summer heat so for me the sports luxe look is a comfortable option at the moment but I will most definitely be having more fun with tees and more playful items this autumn!

Paint Pots And Dolores Dolls – A Collectif Review

There isn’t a woman out there who hasn’t seen a dress that she just HAS to have! Admittedly I see gorgeous clothes all the time but it’s not so often that I literally find myself searching the globe for a dress! When I first saw the gorgeous Paint Pot Dolores doll dress from Collectif I could see myself wearing it. I knew exactly how I would style it, exactly where I would wear it and exactly how great I would feel in it! Now anyone who knows me knows that when it comes to vintage swing dresses I’m a little crazy! I have more in my closest than I can literally store, in a series of bright and bold colours and prints and even though some have similarities, they all have a little something special about them.

My ultimate vintage cut is the Dolores Doll from Collectif. I have loads of them now and I don’t plan to stop buying them anytime soon! I say this a lot, when something works for me I stick with it! I’m the girl who would and has bought the same dress upwards of 10 times, simply because the colour is different or there is a slight design tweak. The Dolores Doll for me is the perfect length for my 5’5 frame, the cap sleeves are extremely comfortable and are perfect for covering up the bra straps. I find that these dresses lift and shape my bust in a way that gives the ultimate cleavage and they are just the right cut and shape for an extremely sexy yet modest look.

When I was sent the lookbook for a recent collection by Collectif I was instantly taken by the amazing new lines all in paint pot print! I instantly knew I wanted the girly pink and blue version of the dress. I love wearing all shades of blue as you know and pink is a colour that whilst I enjoy it, I like to pair it with many tones and shades. This dress took a lot of the work out of putting the colours together and for me needs very little with it! Unfortunately for me this dress sold out so fast I was unable to get my hands on one! I literally mean the dress was sold out in size 20 within a matter of days! The spaghetti strap version, the Janie was also totally unavailable! I was crushed. I made it a personal mission a few years ago to treat myself every summer to an incredible vintage dress and the only one I set my sights on was the Dolores Paint Pot dress!

As you can imagine a keen few women out there beat me to the punch as well as some wholesale companies who source some of their vintage goodies from the brand. I scoured the internet hoping for an opportunity to buy a second hand version but of course no one wanted to give up this one! My search led me to a dutch based vintage company Succubus where I snapped up one of the last in my size, spending money I didn’t have at the time and not even caring about the cost lol. As soon as I paid I had my eyes on the tracking website and post every day that followed, lucky for me I got this vintage treasure in record time!

Hanna and I had decided to spend an afternoon in Highgate, the weather was great, sun was shinning and I was in the perfect mood to wear a girly dress! I decided to pair this one with my white Sam’s petticoat from Vivien Of Holloway, Michelle shoes from Hotter and the main outfit was pulled together. In keeping with the idea of white additions I pulled my new denim jacket from Zizzi, recently gifted to me by one of their UK stockist, Navabi. I’m wearing this in a size 22. My new square buckle stretch belt from Lane Bryant was a must with this look. One of my many bandanas, this time in baby pink, my hoop earrings of course and I was set.

I have to say I’m so happy to finally have this dress. I love everything about it and I have to say, this is another one I just have to twirl in!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

In The Summer Sun – A Lane Bryant Review

*This dress was a gifted item

It’s a strange sort of summer this year. Usually there are endless conversations going on with people complaining about the heat, praying for a rain storm and hiding away in the shade. Now I love everything about the summer the sweltering heat, picnics in the park, the bright and beautiful colours everywhere and the excitement for holidays far away by the sea. This year we have had none of that. The conversation has been full of complaints as usual and this time we’re all whinging about the rain, cold days and short bursts of sunshine. Usually I’m in the background listening to what others have to say whilst i’m o the opposite oppinion and on the other side. This year I’m right there with them bitching away because summertime in London has been non existent with the odd hour of two of good weather.

Now when you’re someone who loves wearing a good sun dress and luxuriating in the sun, you make the most of the good days when they are here! Last weekend the sun was shinning, birds were singing and the need for layers was finally gone! I finally got to wear my gorgeous Fit & Flare Sleeveless Dress from Lane Bryant! A few weeks back they sent me some great bits to enjoy for the summer season and I haven’t really been able to wear any of them! I’m wearing this dress in a size 22 in the moderain plaid print. I have to say I love the feel of this one. It’s made out of a super silkly slinky fabric and I have to say it feels light as a feather on. A great option for a beach holiday or summer lunch.

The dress come complete with a zip fastening at the back and additional skinny belt. I was very impressed with the belt as 9 times out of 10 when a belt comes with a dress it has to be discarded due to poor fit. I had plenty of room in this dress and really enjoyed it’s loose fit feeling. Stopping just by the knee made wearing anti charf shorts very comfortable lol. I will say this, I love wearing bright and colourful clothes but I do lack in the orange and yellow department. I love that the print of the dress has splashes of orange, peach, beige, yellow and khaki green in box grids and lines.

Hanna let me borrow her Strappy Wooden heels, also from Lane Bryant and I think they totally complete the look. I was really surprised by how comfortable these shoes are! They are pretty high, really easy to walk in and virtually pain free! The only downside is that my left foot slid forward in the shoe in a little but to be honest I really didn’t care. When you feel good in the sunshine and enjoy those bright summer moments the little things don’t even bother you.

I’m hoping we get to enjoy more of this beautiful weather and I get to wear more summer items! Unfortunately it’s grey and wet as I write this post…

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

High In My Stripes

I’m a firm believer in making a statement. I’m someone who has never been afraid to speak my mind or showcase my personality and I guess when it comes to choosing my clothes I adopt the same mindset. I believe everyone should have an outfit or 2 that makes a statement and catches the eyes of many when you walk in the room. I like to experiment with patterns, prints and bold colours. I tend to have the most fun when it comes to dresses and skirts and one thing I love doing is playing around with monochrome looks.

One of the oldest patterns known to man and one of my favourites to wear is stripes! Unfortunately for years there has been this insane rule that says that larger people should only be seen wearing vertical stripes as they are “slimming”. I’m no fan of following fashion rules, I buy the clothes that catch my eye and I enjoy wearing and, although I don’t wear this dress often I always feel great when I do! I remember buying this dress a few years ago from Asos and what I loved about it back then is what I love about it now, the series of stripes in random directions in monochrome.

Admittedly this dress is made of a rather thin material and so with that in mind I the weather has to be suitable in order to pull this one out of the closet. Sometimes you want a sexy fitted bodycon dress that does all the talking for you. It’s no secret I enjoy wearing tight dresses and more often than not ones that are slightly lower cut and expose a fair amount of cleavage. I like the modesty of this dress and find that it can be worn pretty much anywhere. I really like the length of this one as it stops just below the knee and can be paired with many different items for a fun look. With 3/4 sleeves this dress is one that is easy to wear with confidence, especially if you’re a woman who doesn’t like her upper arms exposed.

I decided to pair this dress with a hot tassled jacket from a previous collection at Lane Bryant. As the weather is quite unpredictable in London and we aren’t really experiencing a typical London summer, the need for layers is still very much here. Having said that I wanted to wear some heels and I thought the best thing would be to pick out a pair of boots. I of course decided to wear my Vanity Boots from Hotter.

My rule when playing with monochrome looks is to wear a sharp bright red lipstick. I love red lipstick, especially seeing as it makes my teeth look so white lol. I also love going with bright red lips when I play around with my vintage looks or simple black and white outfits. My current lippy of choice is ‘Forgive My Sin’ by L’Oreal Paris. I love the deepness of the red and what’s more, it lasts for hours and keeps your lips really hydrated and smooth, unlike a lot of other options on the market.

When it comes to fashion I like breaking the rules. You know what I always says. Wear what makes you feel fabulous!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

In The Transition – A Lane Bryant Review

*Items From This Outfit Have Been Gifted

Hey everyone I hope you’re doing well. Firstly I’d like to say a big welcome to those of you joining me here for the first time. I’ve been absent on the blog the past few months, preparing to switch over to this new domain and amongst getting things done here, there have been some major challenges and changes in my personal life. I would like to say to those of my regular readers that I’m sorry for my quietness and I’m back and ready to get back to what I do well with you guys, talking about fashion and beauty.

So we’re now in the time of year where we reach the transition between winter and spring. The days are getting longer and the nights are getting shorter. With all of these changes that are happening it’s starting to get a little warmer, however the need to wrap up is still well and truly there! I was recently sent some really nice bits from Lane Bryant and have really enjoyed playing around with different outfit styles. This Metallic popcorn knit sweater was one of my go-to items during some of the coldest days in the year. I really enjoy wearing the slightly oversized sweater, not only is it a nice weight and extremely comfortable, I find it can be dressed up or down which makes a nice change for such a thick sweater. I’m wearing this one in a size 22/24. I often find myself just sticking to sweaters and jeans during the cold days because of the colours they are made in or the texture of the fabric. The cream/gold colour of this sweater allowed me to play around with warm winter looks during the past few weeks. I paired this top with wet look leggings, jeans and black trousers. For this look I thought it would be cool to pair it with these wide legged pleather culottes, also from Lane Bryant.

I had never owned or even tried wearing a pair of culottes before so when I received these in the mail to try I already knew what I was going to wear them with! I’m wearing these in size 22/24 and I have to say they are incredibly comfortable. The fabric breaths really well and unlike some pleather or leather items out there, the fabric doesn’t stick to the skin or encourage sweating. Unfortunately these are no longer available but there are some others available in a stretch polyester/spandex, the Infinite Stretch Culoutte also available from Lane Bryant.

It’s no secret that when it comes to shoes I usually pick comfort over style. A while back I was introduced to shoe brand Hotter which changed this bringing style back into the equation. The brand are known for making gorgeous high quality shoes for men and women, built with a special technology for better comfort, support and fit. The soles of their shoes are built with a special material containing over 1000 air bubbles to help keep the spring in your step and keep that burn away from your feet. I thought my pair of Vanity Boots would set off this look just how I wanted to, giving myself a little extra height and a small gold detail to compliment the gold threads in my sweater.

To finish off my outfit I added this leather clutch with gold chain detail, my signature hoop earrings and black hair scarf. Despite the weather being a little awkward at the moment one of the things I love about the transitional period is the fact that we can still wear some of our favourite items when mixing them in with pieces from the upcoming season. Play around in your closest, you’d be surprised about how many different looks you can get when you just give yourself a little extra time to put things together.

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Black And Gold – A Lane Bryant Review

*The Skirt and shoes are gifted items

Ever been through a daring phase when it comes to your style? I love trying out new styles and looks and seeing what works. I find that way too many people stick to the rules that they have set for themselves when it comes to their sense of dress. I used to tell myself that I couldn’t wear certain patterns, prints, and colours. I still have some colours I don’t play around with, due to the fact that they clash with my skin tone. I used to tell myself that I would never wear anything too shiny and that instantly changed last year when I purchased a metallic t-shirt dress! I think subconsciously I avoided shiny fabrics thinking that they would make me look larger in size than I actually am. Many people feel that way when it comes to white for example. I am happy to say I have since changed my tune and try to have fun with my clothes and, for the most part I’ll try out anything (within reason lol).

One thing that hasn’t changed is my need to coordinate my colours! I think this is part of my Caribbean DNA or something lol. I remember growing up my family and close family friends would always coordinate their looks and they made serious effort to look sharp! In some cases some might say they went quite far at times lol I remember seeing one of my mum’s friends in a bright pink suit, everything was the exact same shade of hot pink including the shoes, pocket square and bowler hat he used to top it all off! I usually like to work with 1 colour in many shades or I have some sort of contrast going. When I first saw this amazing black and gold pleated skirt from Lane Bryant I knew it had to be mine! I immediately knew how I would style it and so I was over the moon when the brand gave me the opportunity to review some of the garments in their current winter collection.

I’m wearing this skirt in a 22/24 and I have to say I absolutely love it! The fit is really comfortable and the elasticated waistband is a nice size, it’s thick enough for comfort and security but it doesn’t bend or fold against your stomach as you move. I paired this skirt with a simple black long sleeved turtleneck t-shirt. My initial idea was to go for a sort of Parisian-artist look. The French are well known for their love of beret hats and as this is my usual hat of choice, I knew I had to include my black one into the look. I wanted an outfit of black and gold!

You all know my love of Hotter shoes! The brand are well known for making shoes that have great quality materials, amazing comfort and fit! I have several pairs of shoes from them and I can attest to this! If you haven’t tried them out yet you really should! I was recently gifted a pair of Vanity Boots from the brand and these boots made the perfect addition to the look. The highest pair of heels I have had from Hotter and these are still built with amazing technology that makes for a pain-free experience when worn for long periods of time. The gold zip adornment is what first caught my eye when I saw these boots and they made for a nice feature on the shoe. To finish off the look I picked out a faux fur clutch and extra long gold chain.

It’s the time of year when everyone likes a little extra shimmer and sparkle and lucky for us sequins and glitter are very much in at the moment! Have fun with your style and get into the Christmas Spirit! There are some great winter looks this season from Lane Bryant. Check out their website, there’s something for everyone!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Sex And The City Chic – A Lane Bryant Review

*This outfit was gifted

Anyone feeling festive? The time of year has come when everyone is in the holiday spirit. The streets are adorned with beautiful lights, fun activities are available for an afternoon of family fun and many people are getting ready for their office party to end the year with a bang! I like many other women out there try to make the most of the season. The events calendar is getting booked up, and our party looks are starting to come together following some amazing sales and offers over the Black Friday weekend. I am happy to say I have some fun, festive and sexy looks this December and I can’t wait to rock them!

Those of you who are familiar with my style will know that I love to dress up and get girly from time to time. More often than not when I want to tap into my softer side I’ll wear a 1950s swing dress, tailored bodycon dress or I’ll mix it up and go all out in a tutu! One of my all time favourite television shows, which just so happens to be a cult classic is the amazing Sex And The City! I was hooked on this show back in the day and find myself watching the entire collection of episodes every year around this time. My favourite character on the show was and is still Ms Carrie Bradshaw. I loved her style and sense of dress. She always managed to look sexy in an understated and feminine way with a bit of an edge. From the very first episode, right the way to the 2nd movie we saw Carrie rocking tutus in sleek and stylish ways…

Speaking of my love for tutus some of you may remember this look of mine from the summer…

I really enjoy big puffy skirts and usually they come at a midi length which is just the perfect length for me. I’m not a huge fan of how short skirts look on me and as I prefer to go bare legged, midi length skirts are perfect on my 5’5 frame. Recently I was given the opportunity to review some amazing clothes from Lane Bryant and they have a variety of winter looks to suit every shape and style. When I first saw their Metallic Layered Tulle Skirt I knew it was an item I just had to try! Once again I had an idea of a Carrie Bradshaw inspired look with a twist and this skirt was just perfect for what I had in mind!

I’m wearing this skirt in a 22/24 and I have to say the fit is amazing! The length gives a nice amount of coverage and feels really warm, especially for this time of year. Soft layers of chiffon on top of a lining in a soft gold, the ruffled layers and cut make for a really nice and stylish piece. Unfortunately this skirt is currently out of stock, hopefully they get more in, it’s such a gorgeous one! Usually this time of year I end up wearing dark colours with one burst of colour for fun. With this look I wanted a soft and girly look so when I saw the Metallic Ribbed Turtleneck I thought it would go really nice with the skirt.

I’m wearing this turtleneck sweater in a size 22/24 and I have to say I absolutely love this one! I have worn this top with jeans and wet look leggings and it works every time! The soft blush coloured fabric has soft touches of glitter and would be great for a casual yet festive item of clothing. To finish off my look I knew I wanted to wear my usual make up. I don’t really play around with my eye make up but I do like to try out different shades of lipstick. Hanna borrowed me one of hers to try and I absolutely loved how the deep plum colour contrasted with the blush and gold tones of my outfit.

I originally had planned to finish off this outfit with a pair of black heels but Hanna had pulled out a pair of cranberry heels that she had and thought would look great on. These are from New look but are unfortunately unavailable. The good news is that they have a new pair that are really similar so I may have to pick them up! I pulled on a sparkly black hair scarf to compliment the black on the heels and finished off the look with a rose gold clutch.

I look for fashion inspiration all the time and everywhere I go! Women all over the place have some amazing looks and really showcase their personality through their sense of style. It might be a TV character or someone down the street. I look for things I like and try to find ways to bring that into my personal style. You know what I always say, have fun with your look!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!
