Leather And Lace – A Junarose Review

*This Dress Was A Gifted Item

Sometimes you see an item of clothing that you just have to have! It’s your ultimate style, great colour and detail and something you know you can style up or down. Recently I was given the opportunity to check out the latest collections from Junarose with Hanna and we were both given the chance to leaf through some samples and take a few bits.

I had previously bought into the lies about white being a colour big girls should avoid because it makes us look larger. I’m also the sort of person who would happen to eat something containing tomatoes and end up wearing half of it down my front lol. Over the years I have changed my mind set about white clothes and now I own tones of them! I chose this gorgeous white lace dress because I instantly liked it after seeing it. I’m wearing this in a size M and I absolutely love it! The fit is just perfect for me, moulding against my bust and behind to enhance my curves and stopping just above the knee.

If anyone is considering purchasing this one I should note that the lace is a really soft stretch lace that is really comfortable to wear. Unlike some lace items I have worn in the past this one doesn’t cling or pinch anywhere, especially the arms. As you all know my arms a little on the chunkier side and I have had issues with some tops and jackets in the past because of this and have had to up-size from time to time for more comfort.

I chose to wear this one with leggings. As I have a fairly sizeable behind the dress hitches up just a little too much for me to wear this as a singular item but that of course would be different from woman to woman. One thing I love about this dress is the lining, a really soft material I believe to be Toulouse. I really like that you can wear this dress with pretty much any bra you like without having the straps on show.

I have worn this dress a few times now and each time has been different. You can really dress this one up with some pearl jewellery, heels and a really sweet jacket. I thought it would be cool to put it with black leggings, leather boots and top it off with my biker jacket. You all know I love my beret hats as they are so comfortable and can also be added to really casual or dressy looks. This one is a really old one from Simply Be but the colour was just perfect to work alongside the dress and an easy option for me to just slip on. Hot pink lipstick and some silvery jewellery and I was ready and set to go!

I love how some items can be right up your street but have a little bit of a twist. If you like this lace dress you’ll be pleased to know it’s currently available on the Junarose website along with some other lace items that are amazing! I have seen some of the upcoming collection and I have to say you’re in for a treat ladies, stay tuned to see what’s coming!

Welcoming Spring And Summer With George

It’s finally the time of year when things are moving fast. The clocks have changed and it’s officially British summer time. I love this time of year, the days are longer, nights shorter and all of the fashion brands have launched their spring and summer looks for the season.

A couple of weeks ago Hanna, Isha and I attended the press day for George Asda at Somerset House. I have to say I was really impressed with loads of the things that they have on offer, from gorgeous new clothing options to home wear. The girls and I were able to select some items for review and one of the ones I selected is this gorgeous Lace Back Blouse. I love clothes that have a wrap detail in the front. I find that tops and dresses that have this detail work for women of all shapes and sizes and can add a subtle and sexy hint to a more casual or sophisticated item.

What I loved about this top is how light and airy it is. The long sleeves make this item something that is wearable on a warm day whilst providing additional coverage for the evening breeze that hits the air this time of year. I love that the colour and material make this an item that would be suited to work and days out. I’m wearing this in a size 24 as I wanted a slightly oversized look. I really like the crochey detail at the back which is a really nice feature and again, allows the top to have a light and airy feel when wearing it.

This top is currently available in sizes 8-24 and I can honestly say it would make a nice addition to any wardrobe. I paired this with a pair of Jeans from Junarose, unfortunately this particular pair is from a previous season but be sure to check out the website as there are some great new styles available.

Currently in London we are experiencing really changeable weather so when I put this outfit together my idea was to have something warm and comfortable and still be prepared for the weather to make a sudden switch. I thought that my Biker Jacket from Yours Clothing would be a good option.

Those who know me well will be aware that when I put my outfits together I ALWAYS try to colour coordinate. I have a big thing about wearing colours that compliment each other and so I often select makeup or accessories based on a colour somewhere in my chosen outfit. When I have the time I go as far as to matching my nail polish to an outfit too. You know what they say, the devil is in the details! I love the ombre dip-dye look of these jeans as there are several shades of blue all rolled into one.

When it came to accessories I was lucky to have had those pre-selected. The baby blue duffle bag I’m wearing is also from George and is currently available. I tried to find a link for this one on the site but I only came across the black version. For those of you who like the blue you may find it in selected stores. The sunglasses I have on are also part of the new collection so it’s definitely worth checking out the website to see what cool accessories they currently have on offer.

My black platform heels and large diamonte ring are from Primark and are old favourites of mine that I pull out from time to time. I thought my beret would also be a nice addition to the look and would give the outfit just the right amount of black that I wanted. Sometimes I like to keep things simple, I find that by doing this, the days when I do get dolled up are more fun.

We’ve reached the time of year when people are planning their summer holidays so take a look in your wardrobe and see what great items might be due a re-vamp. Of course we all like to add new bits to our closets so take a look at what’s out there. I have seen some great options on sale at great prices. George have some great bits available so don’t forget to take a look at the website.

Bright, Blue And A Little Different!

In the past year and a half I have been on such a fashion adventure! Journeying through different cultures, colours and fabrics and still finding new things to excite me with each passing day! I will be honest having so many options is strange to me and it’s most definitely a new and liberating experience. Being a plus size woman and not having many options with what clothing was available to me is what I have been used to for so many years. Now to be spoilt for choice is a very welcome and refreshing experience!

Even though I am enjoying my time playing dress up there are still so many items that catch my eye and that can be down to small details, colours and cuts. This gorgeous cobalt blue top (size 4) is from Pure Energy; a US brand available at Target and various online outlets. Unfortunately this top is no longer in circulation but it may be worth checking out ebay or some other sites to see what there is in the plus range. Many of the items are really nice options for office wear or if you want to find an interesting separate. I really like the lace front detail on the chest and thought it gave an otherwise simple garment that little extra something…

Paired with this black kilt from Asos Curve size 26 (also unavailable). I think this was a casual yet fun look for me. Admittedly the skirt could be a size smaller to sit firmer on my frame but I quite like the looseness in the fit. Sometimes it feels good to have something skim your frame rather than hug it. As my arms are quite big, the sleeves of the top are a little snug so the contrast in fit was nice for me.

I really enjoy wearing skirts that are knee length or just that bit longer. My reason for this is that they work really well with my body type. Fitted skirts sometimes have to be up-sized because of my behind. They tend to ride up a little and in order to maintain a good look and fit I often look better a size a bit big. Having said that this isn’t an issue that I face when I wear A-line skirts, skater skirts and kilts as you can see in these pictures.

I decided to keep it really simple with accessories and just wore my twisted silver hoop earrings. Earrings are an accessory that I wear every single day and without them I feel as if something is slightly off. I can go without necklaces, bracelets and other additions but the tools that decorate my ears are a must have!

A simple pair of low ankle boots from Evans were my shoe of choice and my look was complete. A little extra height and I was on my way. These boots are no longer available but check out the site to see what new lines are available as there are some really nice ones.

I like those outfits that can be worn at work or on the go. In the fast pace life that we live these days it’s near impossible to have the time to go home and change for a chance meeting with friends or whatever.

Play around with your wardrobe. It can be fun to have a selection of funky separates that can form several different outfits. In my case I look out for many blue items what with it being my favourite colour and all. If any of you have found a fun way to play around with a kilt and put your stamp on the traditional Scottish item I would love to see what you’ve done. Feel free to send me an email or drop me a message on my Facebook page.

Play around, take risks and remember, whatever you where, feel fabulous in it and where it with a smile!
