High In My Stripes

I’m a firm believer in making a statement. I’m someone who has never been afraid to speak my mind or showcase my personality and I guess when it comes to choosing my clothes I adopt the same mindset. I believe everyone should have an outfit or 2 that makes a statement and catches the eyes of many when you walk in the room. I like to experiment with patterns, prints and bold colours. I tend to have the most fun when it comes to dresses and skirts and one thing I love doing is playing around with monochrome looks.

One of the oldest patterns known to man and one of my favourites to wear is stripes! Unfortunately for years there has been this insane rule that says that larger people should only be seen wearing vertical stripes as they are “slimming”. I’m no fan of following fashion rules, I buy the clothes that catch my eye and I enjoy wearing and, although I don’t wear this dress often I always feel great when I do! I remember buying this dress a few years ago from Asos and what I loved about it back then is what I love about it now, the series of stripes in random directions in monochrome.

Admittedly this dress is made of a rather thin material and so with that in mind I the weather has to be suitable in order to pull this one out of the closet. Sometimes you want a sexy fitted bodycon dress that does all the talking for you. It’s no secret I enjoy wearing tight dresses and more often than not ones that are slightly lower cut and expose a fair amount of cleavage. I like the modesty of this dress and find that it can be worn pretty much anywhere. I really like the length of this one as it stops just below the knee and can be paired with many different items for a fun look. With 3/4 sleeves this dress is one that is easy to wear with confidence, especially if you’re a woman who doesn’t like her upper arms exposed.

I decided to pair this dress with a hot tassled jacket from a previous collection at Lane Bryant. As the weather is quite unpredictable in London and we aren’t really experiencing a typical London summer, the need for layers is still very much here. Having said that I wanted to wear some heels and I thought the best thing would be to pick out a pair of boots. I of course decided to wear my Vanity Boots from Hotter.

My rule when playing with monochrome looks is to wear a sharp bright red lipstick. I love red lipstick, especially seeing as it makes my teeth look so white lol. I also love going with bright red lips when I play around with my vintage looks or simple black and white outfits. My current lippy of choice is ‘Forgive My Sin’ by L’Oreal Paris. I love the deepness of the red and what’s more, it lasts for hours and keeps your lips really hydrated and smooth, unlike a lot of other options on the market.

When it comes to fashion I like breaking the rules. You know what I always says. Wear what makes you feel fabulous!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Poppies In The Sunshine

It’s hard when you love the summertime, have a wardrobe stacked full of clothes perfect for the season and you live in a country where sunny days can be few and far between. I remember it wasn’t so long ago when the seasons fell on the months they were assigned and, we were able to clearly identify just from the time of year what plans we should make and what clothes we should wear at the same time. I now have a mix of winter and summer clothes accessible in my wardrobe and more often than not i’m having to still pull on a jacket of some sort.

Last year we saw the introduction of vintage brand that was created specifically for us plus size women. Lady Voluptuous was brought to us by the well known British brand, Lady Vintage. They teamed up with the gorgeous Georgina Cox from Fuller Figure Fuller Bust and brought us a fun, vibrant and exciting clothing line. The brand has gone from strength to strength and have since expanded, bringing us bridal options and a plethora of new designs. When the collection first launched there was one dress in particular that I really wanted to get my hands on! The orange poppy print dress! Now I cannot begin to tell you the hell I had in trying to get this one! I purchased one of the last dresses in my size and unfortunately Royal Mail lost my parcel and I was left without my dress! Lady Voluptuous were lovely about the situation and sent me out a dress one size smaller. I was determined to get this one and was willing to squeeze into a smaller size to do so! Unfortunately I was unable to wear this dress because it squished my breasts down too much giving me that saucer-like look most of us ladies hate! The thing is I just couldn’t bring myself to sell it…

As some of you know I suffered a really horrible stomach illness at the end of last year that stretched out until just a few weeks ago. I was then diagnosed with IBS so the challenge to eat has resulted in my losing a fair bit of weight. Now I’m a vegetarian who is seriously picky already about what I eat and it’s only now i’m starting to get my diet together having cut out and cut down on some things I was eating. The good news though, I can finally fit into this dress! I’m wearing a 20-22 in this gorgeous bright Cossette dress.

Orange isn’t a colour I have worn much of and I really wanted to add some real summer colours into my dress collection. I love how the colour bounces off my complexion and the black incorporation make this one really easy to style. A couple of months ago I took a break from wearing hair extensions, weaves and wigs and decided to wear my hair totally natural. I knew with this dress that I wanted a really 1950s look so I was unsure how to go about styling my hair for this look. Seeing as I have an extensive scarf and bandana collection I thought it would be fun to put an Afro/Caribbean twist on a popular look. Often women wear them with a pompadoor bang or my personal favourite, the victory or suicide roll. I thought it would be cool to twist in my hair and let the front be open and loose curls.

I decided that I would go for a rockabilly 1950s look. Pairing the dress with my number one go-to heels from Hotter, the Michelle heels. Pulling out my faux leather biker jacket from Yours clothing and my old black rose cinch belt from Collectif. Most of my vintage dresses have a cap sleeve and require a bolero or cardigan when the weather is like this but as this dress as long sleeves it could be worn on it’s own. With a slight chill in the air I thought it best to keep the jacket at hand however.

Even though it’s been a crazy and hectic few weeks it’s been great to let the sun shine on my face, embrace all the new changes and make the most of things. I have to say it’s been fun doing so in a dress that I really wanted to wear! I’m pretty sure every woman out there knows what it’s like to have an item in their wardrobe that makes them say ‘I will wear it one day…’ I’m glad for me that the day has come for me to rock this summery number! The only thing that’s bad is the way I was able to do so.  Hopefully they’ll be more hot summer days and there will be some more things to smile about!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Beautiful Blossoms

I can’t help but feel cheery when the sun in shinning. I am a pure summer baby in every sense, not just because my birthday is the middle of July but because I love all things summer! I love the heat and enjoy almost everything about a summer day. The bright and gorgeous weather, beautiful plants and flowers, butterflies, the extra long days and the shorter nights. One thing I enjoy in particular is playing around with my summer wardrobe. I think what I love about summer fashion is the varying ways that we can express ourselves. Some like to show a lot of skin and catch a tan, others like bright and fun pastel colours and some like myself enjoy switching things up. I love a bright and fun outfit but I also like black floaty maxi dresses this time of year. I find that they make for amazing transitional outfits. You could possibly wear one to work and then head out at the end of the day for a nice meal or drinks with friends.

I really enjoy wearing chiffon dresses. I find that the light and airy material makes for an elegant dress which can be worn during the day and night but the good news is that they feel comfortable in quite hot and humid weather. This dress I’m wearing is from one of my favourite Scandinavian brands Zizzi. This dress is from a previous collection and is a little big for me as I have recently lost some weight. However I love it that much that I really don’t care lol. I’m wearing this dress is a size XL. I really like the white binding across the bust, arms and hem. I think the slight addition makes for a nice monochrome feel.

As the dress is quite long I wanted to wear a slight heel so that I didn’t keep stepping on the hem. I of course opted for my black Michelle Heels from Hotter, my go-to pair of black heels at the moment. Unfortunately we haven’t been blessed with many hot and sunny days in London this year. It’s starting to look as though things are heating up weather-wise which is great for me because I can’t get enough of it! Hopefully i’ll get to go somewhere exotic and beautiful at some point this year but for now i’m going to make the most of the sunshine we get here.

It’s been an interesting few weeks that have passed by for me. I’ve witnessed some of my friends having babies, getting engaged etc. others have been going through some more painful changes and I’ve been going through changes both personally and professionally. Seeing the spring flowers popping up and the blossoms on the trees for me is not only a sign of this gorgeous summer starting but of many positive and pleasant changes. I’m gonna enjoy the wind in my hair, sun on my skin and whatever comes along! Change is exciting and brings with it many amazing things!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Girly Girl

There are some things that all women have in common regardless of what their background or personal style is. We have all found ourselves sifting through everything that we own in our wardrobes unsure of what to wear, and we have all woken up with a random need to feel somewhat girly. Now girly for some would be dressing in bright pink with their hair in pigtails and cute makeup. For others it might be wearing a set of lingerie that makes them feel that extra bit feminine. In my case when I feel the need to be girly one thing comes to mind. What sort of skirt am I gonna wear and how big do I want it? I tend to gravitate towards sexy bodycon dresses, vintage swing dresses or tulle skirts.

The sun was shinning bright and strong the other day in London and I knew that I wanted to wear my navy tutu skirt but I had no idea what I should pair with it. The last time I had worn this skirt the weather was a lot cooler and I was able to pair it with a sweater and some nude heels. This time around I wanted to be bright in the summer sunshine but I also wanted a look that would transition well into an evening look. The plan was set I was going to go bare legged and pair the skirt with a cute t-shirt. Now I should note that this particular skirt was from Asos a while back and from their standard range. From what I have seen they no longer stock this one but they do have some similar options here. Last summer Scandinavian brand Zizzi released their summer collection, Wardrobe of wonders. They had some amazing items including some cute school girl inspired items, check out my previous review here. In the collection they had a really cool digital print line featuring midi skirt and crop top tee. I was lucky enough to get the skirt and borrowed the top a few times from Hanna. The good news is that both the top and skirt are still available from uk outlet Navabi.

What I love about plus size fashions now is that there is something for every kind of curvy woman out there. Should you choose urban street styles, vintage classics, current casuals or smart sophisticated evening wear there is something for everyone. I have said many times I like to dress to my mood which I why I like to carry a wide range of clothes in my wardrobe so that I can be ready to attend whatever event or occasion in appropriate items. My personal trick to save space and money is to buy clothes that can be worn in more than one way preferably for a casual and smart look. Of course I have some items that are exclusive to specific occasions but this is why when I pick my separates such as skirts and tops, I tend to go for colours I can easily incorporate into my style. Anyone who knows me personally will know that I try to colour coordinate almost everything I wear. This is something that was ingrained into me as a child and a particular style trait I still practice.

I thought I would wear my pleather biker jacket for additional coverage and to offset the black heels I chose. I opted for my number 1 go to heels my pairs of Michelle shoes from Hotter. A simple black clutch was required, my signature hoop earrings and a pop of red! I chose my new favourite lipgloss, Forgive My Sin from L’Oreal Paris. I tend to keep my makeup the same with pinup style winged eye liner, mascara, my brows of course and a touch of foundation. I play around mostly with my lip colour but it tends to be reds and pinks I gravitate towards the most. Specifically deep reds. I love how they look against my complexion and I find that my teeth looks miles whiter when I wear red which is always a bonus lol.

Every now and again it’s fun to dress up in a way that makes you feel fun, feminine and bright. Sometimes you just have to do what makes you feel good and be mindful that you may draw some attention to yourself which is always good if you’re feeling confident! Have fun with your look and if you haven’t already ladies, try out a tutu or tulle skirt! They are a lot of fun to wear and can make for some great outfits!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

In The Transition – A Lane Bryant Review

*Items From This Outfit Have Been Gifted

Hey everyone I hope you’re doing well. Firstly I’d like to say a big welcome to those of you joining me here for the first time. I’ve been absent on the blog the past few months, preparing to switch over to this new domain and amongst getting things done here, there have been some major challenges and changes in my personal life. I would like to say to those of my regular readers that I’m sorry for my quietness and I’m back and ready to get back to what I do well with you guys, talking about fashion and beauty.

So we’re now in the time of year where we reach the transition between winter and spring. The days are getting longer and the nights are getting shorter. With all of these changes that are happening it’s starting to get a little warmer, however the need to wrap up is still well and truly there! I was recently sent some really nice bits from Lane Bryant and have really enjoyed playing around with different outfit styles. This Metallic popcorn knit sweater was one of my go-to items during some of the coldest days in the year. I really enjoy wearing the slightly oversized sweater, not only is it a nice weight and extremely comfortable, I find it can be dressed up or down which makes a nice change for such a thick sweater. I’m wearing this one in a size 22/24. I often find myself just sticking to sweaters and jeans during the cold days because of the colours they are made in or the texture of the fabric. The cream/gold colour of this sweater allowed me to play around with warm winter looks during the past few weeks. I paired this top with wet look leggings, jeans and black trousers. For this look I thought it would be cool to pair it with these wide legged pleather culottes, also from Lane Bryant.

I had never owned or even tried wearing a pair of culottes before so when I received these in the mail to try I already knew what I was going to wear them with! I’m wearing these in size 22/24 and I have to say they are incredibly comfortable. The fabric breaths really well and unlike some pleather or leather items out there, the fabric doesn’t stick to the skin or encourage sweating. Unfortunately these are no longer available but there are some others available in a stretch polyester/spandex, the Infinite Stretch Culoutte also available from Lane Bryant.

It’s no secret that when it comes to shoes I usually pick comfort over style. A while back I was introduced to shoe brand Hotter which changed this bringing style back into the equation. The brand are known for making gorgeous high quality shoes for men and women, built with a special technology for better comfort, support and fit. The soles of their shoes are built with a special material containing over 1000 air bubbles to help keep the spring in your step and keep that burn away from your feet. I thought my pair of Vanity Boots would set off this look just how I wanted to, giving myself a little extra height and a small gold detail to compliment the gold threads in my sweater.

To finish off my outfit I added this leather clutch with gold chain detail, my signature hoop earrings and black hair scarf. Despite the weather being a little awkward at the moment one of the things I love about the transitional period is the fact that we can still wear some of our favourite items when mixing them in with pieces from the upcoming season. Play around in your closest, you’d be surprised about how many different looks you can get when you just give yourself a little extra time to put things together.

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Black And Gold – A Lane Bryant Review

*The Skirt and shoes are gifted items

Ever been through a daring phase when it comes to your style? I love trying out new styles and looks and seeing what works. I find that way too many people stick to the rules that they have set for themselves when it comes to their sense of dress. I used to tell myself that I couldn’t wear certain patterns, prints, and colours. I still have some colours I don’t play around with, due to the fact that they clash with my skin tone. I used to tell myself that I would never wear anything too shiny and that instantly changed last year when I purchased a metallic t-shirt dress! I think subconsciously I avoided shiny fabrics thinking that they would make me look larger in size than I actually am. Many people feel that way when it comes to white for example. I am happy to say I have since changed my tune and try to have fun with my clothes and, for the most part I’ll try out anything (within reason lol).

One thing that hasn’t changed is my need to coordinate my colours! I think this is part of my Caribbean DNA or something lol. I remember growing up my family and close family friends would always coordinate their looks and they made serious effort to look sharp! In some cases some might say they went quite far at times lol I remember seeing one of my mum’s friends in a bright pink suit, everything was the exact same shade of hot pink including the shoes, pocket square and bowler hat he used to top it all off! I usually like to work with 1 colour in many shades or I have some sort of contrast going. When I first saw this amazing black and gold pleated skirt from Lane Bryant I knew it had to be mine! I immediately knew how I would style it and so I was over the moon when the brand gave me the opportunity to review some of the garments in their current winter collection.

I’m wearing this skirt in a 22/24 and I have to say I absolutely love it! The fit is really comfortable and the elasticated waistband is a nice size, it’s thick enough for comfort and security but it doesn’t bend or fold against your stomach as you move. I paired this skirt with a simple black long sleeved turtleneck t-shirt. My initial idea was to go for a sort of Parisian-artist look. The French are well known for their love of beret hats and as this is my usual hat of choice, I knew I had to include my black one into the look. I wanted an outfit of black and gold!

You all know my love of Hotter shoes! The brand are well known for making shoes that have great quality materials, amazing comfort and fit! I have several pairs of shoes from them and I can attest to this! If you haven’t tried them out yet you really should! I was recently gifted a pair of Vanity Bootsfrom the brand and these boots made the perfect addition to the look. The highest pair of heels I have had from Hotter and these are still built with amazing technology that makes for a pain-free experience when worn for long periods of time. The gold zip adornment is what first caught my eye when I saw these boots and they made for a nice feature on the shoe. To finish off the look I picked out a faux fur clutch and extra long gold chain.

It’s the time of year when everyone likes a little extra shimmer and sparkle and lucky for us sequins and glitter are very much in at the moment! Have fun with your style and get into the Christmas Spirit! There are some great winter looks this season from Lane Bryant. Check out their website, there’s something for everyone!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Blue Passion – A Lane Bryant Review

* This Dress Is A Gifted Item

So here we are again. It’s the time of year when everyone begins to get into the festive spirit. Halloween pumpkins have made their way into stores all over the place and, we are starting to see Christmas decorations adorn our streets. With all of the decorations and party favours being splashed all over the place, the event invitations are coming out and the need for fun and sassy evening wear is apparent. With many quick and fast changes happen this season, imagine my surprise when I was offered the chance to review an amazing dress from Lane Bryant.

The asymmetric seamed bodice dress is everything I look for in a simple but striking dress. The simple block colour, decorative pleats and V shaped neckline really add to this piece. Available from the Blue Streak collection which was previously featured on their seasonal Fast Lane section of the website, this one immediately caught my eye. As you know I have a deep affection for Cobalt clothing as I really like how it looks against my complexion and, it just so happens to be one of my favourite shades of blue!

This midi length dress with asymmetric hem line is one that would really suit a lot of body shapes. Stopping just below the knees this makes for a really elegant piece that can be dressed both up or down. I really like how this one moulds across my bust, allowing for a hint of cleavage. The thick straps make this one easy to wear with pretty much any bra and if you decide to wear shapewear with this dress, the length allows you to have a wider choice of options. I’m wearing this dress in a size 22 and I should note that I am wearing shapewear in these images.

If I were to wear this for a more casual look I would wear wedged heels, blue acrylic jewellery and a denim jacket. Here I thought, how would I want to style this for a night out? I decided to wear my Michelle Heels from Hotter. These have fast become my go-to heels as the pyramid technology used in the production of the shoes allows for extra support and comfort to the balls of your feet. Imagine having soft padded built in gel cushions as the soles of your heels! I cannot recommend these more as they work with so many styles. I have worn these with vintage style dresses, casual looks and of course more elegant styles. In addition to the shoes I thought it would be a little different to wear a beret with a twist. As you can tell I’m really into my hats at the moment and I thought my blue sequin beret bought many years ago from Primark would look pretty cool, especially seeing as it’s the exact same shade as the dress. My signature hoop earrings, and statement necklace from Happiness Boutique were my only jewellery worn. I kept my makeup to it’s usual style and wore a soft pink lipstick.

With a dress like this I didn’t want to do anything to take away from it’s detail. I love how it fits and the colour is really rich and soft. As we’re experiencing a bit of a chill in the London air I pulled on my biker jacket from Yours Clothing, which is currently on sale. Working with my black heels I felt that this just pulled the look together.

Lane Bryant have been the leading American plus size brand for many years now and their recent campaigns have really had many talking! I’m No Angel saw the brand challenge the Victoria Secret model of how beauty and sex appeal is in regards to women’s bodies and did loads to encourage the body positivity movement we are currently experiencing in the plus size industry. We saw a diverse group of  beautiful and confident women wearing gorgeous lingerie from the brand and each making positive statements about themselves in their campaign commercial. Most recently the Plus Is Equal campaign went viral and we saw some of the leading plus size models take the runway in style! Being that I’m a woman who loves to see women feel good in their skin and shine with confidence I love that the brand is showing that sexy, feminine and flattering clothing is something all women deserve to wear and, that they will do what they can to help in that area.

You know what I always say, have fun with your style. Wear what makes you feel confident and amazing and play around with your style. We all have various elements to our personality and we can showcase that in our sense of style!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Rocking In The Seychelles! A Gemma Collins Review

*This Dress Was A Gifted Item

There isn’t a single woman around who hasn’t seen a friend of theirs or another female they admire turn up in something that makes her look absolutely fabulous! Not so long ago I had that reaction when I saw my friend and fellow blogger Nancy rocking a gorgeous Pink Gradient dress designed by TOWIE star Gemma Collins. The seychelles dress to me was a real show stopper! I loved how the colours complimented Nancy’s skin tone so beautifully and her tattoos were on show for all to see. Often when I see a dress I like on someone I really want to try it out for myself but too be honest I wasn’t sure this particular shade of pink would suit me.

Recently when Hanna and I were at the Evans store in Marble arch I stumbled across this dress on one of the rails and to my surprise, and my luck the seychelles dress was available in a mixture of blue tones! You all know that blue is my all time favourite colour and this was the very dress I had my eye on a few weeks prior so I just had to try it on! Wearing this one in a size 22 I have to say I really love how it feels on! The fabric is really slinky and silky and sits really softly against the skin. The weight of the dress is enough to keep a great silhouette in a strong wind and I love the length.

I really like how the ruffled crossed front compliments the shape of the waist and accentuates the bust and I actually like that this dress is sleeveless. As most of you know I tend to cover my arms but I think that this dress has just enough going on that added sleeves might just be a little too much in the design, just my opinion. I think if I were to wear this out one night I may pair it with a shawl or short jacket of some kind.

I decided to wear this one with my Michelle shoes from Hotter for comfort and a little added height. I kept my makeup to a it’s minimal state and I wore this holographic clutch. In keeping with my usual look hoop earrings were added and some added blue bits. A small blue daisy bracelet was a must and a new statement necklace that I had been given to review.

Happiness Boutique recently contacted me and asked if I would like to try something out. I jumped at the chance as I love a good statement necklace! They sent me the most incredible blue and white stoned chocker and I have to say I love it! Check out their site and see what incredible bits and pieces are on there with a selection of fun accessories and gorgeous clothes it’s worth a look!

Unfortunately the seychelles dress is no longer available on the Gemma Collins section of the Evans website but do go into your local store as you may find one there just as I did. I feel amazing in this dress it’s a colour I love, fit that I enjoy and it’s a show stopper! If you see a dress that just does it for you try it out! You never know you might just feel great in it!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

A Sailor’s Sweetheart – A Collectif Review

*This dress was a gifted item

One of the best things for me is to get dressed up. When you’re a bigger girl living in London the way you view yourself and fashion may be slightly different to the view of the average person. For years we have been limited with our options and it’s only been the past few years that has brought new changes and opportunities to the forefront. The fashion industry as a whole has started to embrace the bigger girls and with it we have been awarded the chance to freely express ourselves.

What I love about Collectif is that they create their dresses in sizes 6-22. I have to say I love that the brand has the same set of clothes available for standard and plus size women. So many brands have a separate range of clothing for us bigger girls and, more often than not the choices aren’t as edgy or experimental. The good news is that the options that are coming from brands all over the place are becoming more stylish, edgy and generally more fun to wear.

Collectif recently contacted me and gave me the chance to review a dress. When I saw the Ginger Sailor Wing Bust Dress, I knew I instantly wanted to try it. My Sindy Doll sailor dress is one of my favourites and I absolutely love wearing it. As the shape of this dress is very similar, I knew it was one I could have fun with. I’ve selected this dress in a size 22.

I love nothing more than slipping on a fun vintage dress, putting on a petticoat and really going all in with my look. When I was styling this dress I imagined being back in the 1950s. I pictured myself as the wife of a sailor in the Navy on my way to meet my husband whilst he came back from his tour. Funny I know but it’s fun to play a character sometimes lol.

I say it all the time, I love blue, any shade of blue and so this dress was one I was determined to have fun with. A great feature is the adjustable straps. These can be worn in a criss-cross fashion, in a halter style or the dress can be worn as a strapless number. In these pictures you’ll see that I have taken pictures in both the criss-cross and halter-neck style.

I should note that the belt of the dress has no loop holes for you to have a fixed closure. I found that from time to time when walking or moving the clasp would slip open. This to me was the only flaw in the dress but can easily be resolved by using another belt if you really want to wear the added accessory.

Hanna and I were taking full advantage of the hot London sun and so we decided to spend the day taking a ton of outfit pictures this previous Saturday. Whilst I was getting my dress together the lovely Diana was really sweet and borrowed me a few things to try with the dress. This gorgeous fascinator by Pearls And Swine was something I fell in love with at first sight. I love the gorgeous collection of white roses and the net detail attached. At first we weren’t sure how this would look but I thought it completed the outfit beautifully. A simple white bolero was added and in some of my pictures a necklace of a ship was worn. Definitely in keeping with my sailor theme!

I of course selected my Michelle shoes from Hotter as my given footwear! It’s no secret how much I love to spin and swirl in my pinup dresses and so I needed shoes that were perfect vintage styling and pain free. If you love to swing or jive dance I cannot stress enough how incredible these heels are!

In keeping with usual style I wore my small hoop earrings for added jewellery. Applied some deep red lipstick to my usual vintage style makeup and I was ready and set to go! I always say it, have fun with your clothes. If something makes you feel amazing, wear it! Don’t apologise for expressing yourself through fashion, that’s exactly what fashion is all about!

Good news ladies this amazing dress is currently on sale! The price has been slashed in half so if you want to try this one out for yourself be sure to pick one up now! Also any of you who do get this one I’d love to see your pics and how you styled it!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Pinup Perfection: The Dolores Doll!

Sometimes you just have one of those days when everything clicks and you feel amazing in your clothes. I usually like to dress to my mood and try to find ways to make it work with the weather. Lucky for me the sun was bright and hot in London the other day and I had just received my latest Collectif purchase! I bought my first dress from Collectif 2 years ago and I have to say I have been in love with the brand ever since! The Dolores Doll is a favourite for many ladies and so far remains my favourite cut of vintage dress from any brand! I now have 3 and I still want more!

What I love so much about this cut of dress is that is suits absolutely everyone! It’s not often that you can find a dress that suits women of all heights, shapes and sizes! The cute little puff sleeves are really lovely and are so comfortable. The length of the dress stops just below the knee, true to the 1940s and 1950s cuts for a dress, but also very flattering for anyone to wear. The even better news is that most women have to size down to have the perfect fit. In most brands I wear a 22-24 but always go for a size 20 in this dress, and I would easily be able to get into an 18 if my bust was smaller! They are all available in sizes 6-22.

The thing is, in my day to day life I don’t often have much time to just feel girly and playful and I always love wearing my vintage clothes because I feel ultra feminine and sexy. There’s something really sexy about vintage clothes as they highlight all of the best attributes of the female figure. Tall, short, fat or thin everyone suits these dresses and I find that they are wearable in many more places than people think. I have seen these used in countless weddings, summer events like garden parties, a day at the races…the list is endless! When I first saw this baby blue polka dot Dolores it had to be mine! I went onto to the site to make my purchase and as usual the size I required was gone! I was absolutely gutted and so I kept my eyes glued to the website. A couple of weeks later I saw the dress appear in my size and so I snapped it up before it was gone, despite the fact that I didn’t have the money at the time lol. You all know how I feel about blue! It’s my favourite colour and I am always looking for new blue fashions. It’s not often that I can pick up something I know I’ll love and wear often, and I just knew this one would be more than welcome in my wardrobe!

I wore this with my white Petticoat from Vivien Of Holloway. I have to say of all the Petticoats I have tried theirs are the best by far! Available in an assortment of different colours with a high elasticated waist band. All 26-27 inches are a silky soft chiffon that is really comfortable on and really gives any swing dress that extra boost you might want from time to time. They do cost a little more than some of the others on the market but I cannot stress enough these are worth every penny!

I don’t have that many cardigans or boleros and one staple colour I’m missing is white! I thought this lace bomber jacket from a previous Evans Collection would look cute with the dress. Bomber jackets are heavily featured in vintage and rockabilly fashion and so it was an easy choice for me.

I love to dance! I don’t get the chance to much but I often buy my vintage dresses with the view that I will go jive dancing in them one of these days! I haven’t been jive dancing in over a year and despite the fact that I’m not that good I can’t resist twirling in my swing dresses and watching them swirl around me! What can I say they bring out the playful side of me. I have however worn my white Dolores Doll to a night club in the past and I was not short of compliments or opportunities to throw some shapes!

I was recently gifted the most gorgeous pair of Michelle heels from Hotter. I got my first pair of shoes from the brand last year and I have to say I am in love with them! The inner soles are made of a really foamy material which contains over 1000 air bubbles. The technology used for the soles of these shoes make them so comfortable and their heels are virtually pain free! The black suede shoes with patent t-bar and heel detail were a must have for me and work perfectly with almost all of my vintage style dresses!

2 of my favourite bloggers and friends Caroline (Curvy Wordy) and Georgina (Fuller Figure Fuller Bust) have also reviewed the Dolores Doll. Check out their blogs to read their reviews and see how they styled the dress!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!
