Sequins And Sparkles

A plus size woman smiling wearing a pink sequin dress, wet look leggings and open toe nude heels

So the party season has well and truly begun! Work events are taking place, people are getting into the Christmas spirit and sparkles are starting to appear everywhere. I have a thing for sequins and have always enjoyed wearing them in the late part of the year. I really think that no matter what, every woman likes to feel glamorous from time to time. There are so many fun fabrics with gorgeous rich colours this season. I’m enjoying pinks and blush tones which is why this Madeline rose gold sequin t-shirt dress from In The Style Curve is going to making an appearance at an event i’ll be attending this year.

I have a thing for wearing bold prints and bright colours, especially in the winter months. What I love about this item is that it’s extremely comfortable, flattering and sexy. The freshness of the rose gold will stand out and look gorgeous at a Christmas party and this one can be worn as a single item or paired with cute tights or pants. There are many ways sequins can be worn and i’m a woman who isn’t afraid to wear them, in fact I love it!

This is the time of year when we all wanna look our best. Cameras are flashing capturing magic memories, glitz and glamour is everywhere… It’s also cuffing season so there is ample opportunity to meet someone special and even get them under the mistletoe. What better way is there to stand out than to walk into the room sparkling?! When I wear an item full of sequins I like to let the clothes do the talking for me. I selected this dress in size 24. It has a perfect fit for your dress size and plenty of stretch for those of us with boobs, bums and tums that need to be accounted for.

Colour coordination is the name of my style game! Accessorising the outfit was easy to be honest. I selected a Faux leather clutch in blush colour that perfectly complimented the dress. Wet look leggings were a must with this outfit. Nude open toe heels were my shoe of choice as I wanted a simple but cute footwear option. I tied my hair in a cute top knot style and pulled on my large hoop earrings to finish off my idea of the perfect casual chic party outfit. Many jacket styles could be worn to battle the chill in the air if you’re out and about in a dress like this also.

Something Sweet

A plus size woman smiling wearing a denim pussybow shirt, faux leather skirt and heels

It’s that time of year when the winter cold has finally set in. We all struggle to figure out what to wear when battling the elements. I like to still bring in my style with the new season as well as dress in a comfortable and bright way. I love the blacks, greys and navys as much as the next girl, but sometimes something else is required. Don’t you wanna have that little something extra than everyone else in your outfit? Navabi reached out to me and sent me an amazing outfit of my choice and guess what, it can be yours too! Before we get into what I mean by that let me break down my look for you…

A plus size woman smiling wearing a denim pussybow shirt, faux leather skirt and heelsA plus size woman smiling wearing a denim pussybow shirt, faux leather skirt and heels

If you have been following my blog for a while you’ll know I have a thing for cute shirts! Pussybow shirts and tops have very much been the in style for a couple of years now. Marina Rinaldi are the brand behind this amazing one i’m wearing! Denim is a fabric with limited stretch and so like I do with all of my shirts I picked this one up in a larger size than what I would usually wear, size 26 to be exact. Those of us women with larger boobs have to accommodate for the fastening of buttons and the possibility of gaping. It should be noted that I wasn’t wearing the best bra when I took these photos. I was unwell at the time and comfort was my priority. It’s a really nice length though and can easily be worn with other skirts, trousers and jeans.

So the shirt was the first item I picked when putting this look together. You know me, I like items that can be worn in a variety of ways. I did however decide to select an item that would be great for the season and could be worn with other items in my closest. This led me to the fabulous a-line faux leather skirt in Bordeaux red colour. A warm colour perfect for both autumn and winter, especially the Christmas season. I already knew that I had a variety of lipstick shades that would make a perfect match! I also knew that I had the perfect pair of heels to compliment my look. This I selected in a size 24. I also selected a pair of 60 denier tights, size 24-26. Once the cold sets in it’s always good to have a nice pair to keep the chill at bay.

Now I’ve broken down my look and what led me to select these items here is where it comes to you! Navabi and I are give you the chance to win this entire outfit (apart from the heels lol). All you have to do is as follows, the winner will be selected at random and the outfit will be theirs! Good luck everyone!

General Sexy!

a plus size woman wearing an oversized camouflage jacket, t-shirt dress, ray-ban sunglasses and over the knee black heeled boots

So this season we are starting to see a variety of prints, colours and fabrics coming in for the winter. One print that is huge at the moment and has been for the past few weeks is of course camouflage! I have been really enjoying the options out there. Green and khaki prints are currently available everywhere and I’ve been having a good time styling them in my own way. In The Style Curve recently sent me their Sarah Ashcroft oversized jacket that makes me feel confident and full of attitude, a total boss chick. I recently wore this one in a look that made me feel like a sexy General!

When I think of camouflage, like most people thoughts of the military come to mind. The print that is synonymous with soldiers all over the world has been extremely popular in casual fashion for decades. Men and women have been able to incorporate this into their wardrobe in a variety of different ways. I personally started wearing camouflage not that long ago. I found that when it came to plus size fashion we were limited to what was out there and very few options suited my personal style.

The selection of options available for plus size and curvy women nowadays are sexy, funky, trendy and most of all comfortable. This jacket has some really fun distressed and edgy details with an oversized fit. Deep pockets, leather trim and bright yellow strip across the shoulders make this a really easy item to incorporate into many looks. I have this one in size 22/24 and for an oversized item it’s definitely true to size.

When I took these photos I decided to really hone in on the sexy General thing. Aviator sunglasses are one of my favourite styles and so I pulled on a pair of vintage Ray-Bans. As I like to colour coordinate what I wear I went for a black t-shirt dress, fish net tights, over the knee boots and my favourite shade of red lipstick! I really enjoyed this outfit. This look made me channel my inner boss bitch, sassy attitude and playful side.

It’s funny how certain clothing items can really affect your mood. In my opinion I find that fashion is a great way to purposefully channel an attitude or a vibe when you want to. If you’re in a mood where you really need to feel confident and in charge, clothing can make this happen. When i’m feeling bad or down I always go for that dress, lipstick or pair of shoes that makes me look and feel good. I guess that camouflage makes me feel extremely confident because I always feel fabulous when I have it on.

A plus size woman smiling wearing an oversized camouflage jacket, t-shirt dress and over the knee black heeled bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing an oversized camouflage jacket, t-shirt dress, ray-ban sunglasses and over the knee black heeled boots

This is a jacket that has fast become one of my go-to items. I have worn this one with jeans, sweaters, leggings and skirts. Multipurpose items are always welcome in my wardrobe because they can be so versatile. We all have those items that can only be worn with that one pair of shoes or accessories… I really enjoy switching things up when I can. In The style Curve have a wide variety of items that can be worn in different ways. They really know how to come up with fun oversized styles. I recently reviewed one of their sweater  dresses that is still available on the site, check it out here.

Getting Shady In Winter Warmers

a plus size woman smiling wearing an off the shoulder sweater, white leggings and black heeled ankle boots

November has well and truly arrived. It is officially cold and so that means that it’s time for us to start wrapping up and battling the elements! I was recently sent some fab clothes from Yours Clothing just in time for the colder season. I have some fun casual items that can work with a variety of outfits including warm knitwear. This is the time of year when there are 3000 things to do and not enough hours in the day. You’ll find yourself running around to work events, parties, running errands etc. When things get hectic we all like to be comfortable but I still like to look good in the process.

a plus size woman smiling wearing an off the shoulder sweater, white leggings and black heeled ankle bootsa plus size woman smiling wearing an off the shoulder sweater, white leggings and black heeled ankle boots

Sweaters these days have really come a long way. We used to wear items like this purely for comfort and warmth. Now we are lucky enough to have some cute, fun even sexy options. I read somewhere that the sexiest part of a woman’s body is the decolletage so it’s nice to have the shoulders and collar bone exposed. A small amount of flesh revealed can be sexy in a modest way. I really love this sweater from the Limited collection. The swooping off the shoulder neckline, thick fabric and distressed element adds some edge to a simple item. This makes for a really fun basic item that will work with a variety of clothing items for many looks. I picked this up in a size 24.

a plus size woman smiling wearing an off the shoulder sweater, white leggings and black heeled ankle bootsa plus size woman smiling wearing an off the shoulder sweater, white leggings and black heeled ankle boots

Leggings, every woman has a pair, every woman likes these for easy and comfortable fashion. I tend to gravitate towards wet look leggings and I have about 9 pairs to be honest with you lol. I had never worn a pair of white ones before but I figured as I wear white jeans why not get a pair of white leggings? I chose this pair in a size 26. I find that with leggings it’s better to up-size. When you have a large bum and a sizeable belly like I do you don’t want the fabric to stretch so much that it gets see-through. This pair is high waisted and full of stretch. And of course black or white items work with most looks.

a plus size woman wearing a black sweater, white leggings and holding a baby blue backpacka plus size woman wearing white leggings and black heeled ankle bootsa plus size woman smiling wearing an off the shoulder sweater, white leggings and black heeled ankle boots holding a backpack

I like many women love wearing a cute pair of heels. This is the time of year when one might wanna slip on a pair of heels but the cold chill in the air can make that an off putting prospect. I like ankle boots as they provide that sexiness to an outfit but can be worn with thermal tights, socks etc. This pair has a nice height, are really comfortable and work with pretty much anything you wanna pair them with. There is a flexi-sole making this an easy pair to walk in too.

I’m a woman who’s always on the go so I need a bag of some kind to carry my makeup, money, phone, keys etc. I wanted something with a little splash of colour and what better way for me than to pick something blue?! This small quilted backpack is really practical and is an item I can wear with items in all seasons due to the fresh colour. It comes in one size and will work for anyone who needs to carry more than the essentials with them.

So there are many ways to be fun and casual while the weather changes. I have several items from yours that are great to wrap up in. Check out my post featuring camouflage prints and khaki colours. Silver Is The Way!

A plus size woman smiling wearing a crushed velvet t-shirt

When it comes to fashion trends I tend to take on elements of what’s popular. One trend that totally captured me this season is silver fashion! Metallic clothing items really bring some fun edginess to a look, they work in all seasons and give ladies like me that little extra shine we love! Another trend that has really taken a life of it’s own this season is fun velvet. Elvi recently gave me the opportunity to review one of their items. You can only imagine my thoughts when I got the chance to combine the 2 trends not only in an outfit but a single item!

A plus size woman smiling wearing a leather mini skirt, crushed velvet t-shirt and silver high heelsA plus size woman smiling wearing a leather mini skirt, crushed velvet t-shirt and silver high heels

The nude gold coloured velvet of this t-shirt is easily worked into a variety of outfits. I like that it’s a neutral shade and compliments all skin tones. The velvet is light on the skin but has a nice amount of stretch also. I’m wearing this one in a size 24. I am currently obsessed with not just silver items but chrome silver! The different sized chrome loops are a really fun feature on the pocket of the t-shirt. They add that little something extra to the item that makes it stand out.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a crushed velvet t-shirtA plus size woman smiling wearing a leather mini skirt, crushed velvet t-shirt and silver high heels

When I got this top I knew that I had the perfect pair of heels to wear with it. I had been hunting for a pair of silver chrome stiletto heels since I had seen that the trend was coming several seasons ago! The challenge was finding an affordable pair that was comfortable and sexy at the same time. I found this pair at Asos several weeks ago. Unfortunately they are sold out but here is a similar pair if you want a pair of your own.

A woman wearing silver high heels and fish net tightsA plus size woman smiling, sitting, wearing a leather mini skirt, crushed velvet t-shirt and silver high heelsA woman wearing silver high heels and fish net tights

When it comes to velvet items they tend to bring out my sexy side. Feeling fun, flirty and a very fashionable makes dressing all the more enjoyable. In completing this outfit I wanted a really simple selection of colours. Black goes with everything of course so I selected a leather skirt, fish net tights and my largest silver hoop earrings. I have a range of style ideas when it comes to wearing this top. It can be worn with jeans, wet-look leggings and all kinds of skirts.

I think it’s important to select clothing items that make you feel confident, comfortable and fabulous. I find that even when pushing the boundaries there are ways to expand and experiment. You may have noticed I’ve been wearing a lot of skirts lately. I guess you could say I’m trying to improve my skirt game and get that bit more confident in showcasing my legs. There are many ways of playing around with fashion so get to trying I say!

I’m going to start as I mean to go on and will be on the hunt for more silver and velvet items. The party season is coming with Halloween, Christmas and New Years so why not?! Shiny things and glamorous velvet are perfect for the winter and will always work year in year out!

Speaking of Silver you may remember earlier in the year I wore a fabulous trench coat. This was another fab item from Elvi. Check out their current collection for some fab edgy styles this season.

Disco Diva, Oh Yeah!

A plus size woman smiling wearing a metallic mini skirt, slogan t-shirt and silver boots

Sometimes you find yourself wanting to wear something different. I find that it can be boring if you only dress for the day to day situations in life. Don’t you ever just want to have fun with the clothes that you wear? I like many women have an obsession with things that are shiny lol. Lately I have been on the hunt for metallic and chrome footwear and clothing items. When I saw these fab items from the Glamorous Curve range at Simply Be I knew I had to get my hands on them!

A plus size woman wearing a metallic mini skirt, slogan t-shirt, mirrored sunglasses and silver bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing a metallic mini skirt, slogan t-shirt and silver boots

I look at kids and I’m jealous of their freedom when it comes to clothing. They can wear whatever makes them feel fun and fabulous without anyone batting an eyelid. In adulthood you have to be prim, proper and practical most of the time. Whenever I get the chance to play around with my look I take it! I wanted to experiment and wear something a little different. As a musician I like to channel my inner diva when I can. In this outfit I feel like the ultimate disco diva!

A plus size woman wearing a metallic mini skirt A plus size woman smiling wearing a slogan t-shirt, mirrored sunglasses and biker jacket

I got this mini skirt in UK size 26, US 22. I really like this one, even though it is pretty short! The fabric has no stretch though so if you have a belly and a large booty like me you will need to up-size for extra room. If you enjoy picking up fun clothes that are easy to maintain you’ll love the easy to wipe clean fabric. The side pockets are purely for decoration though. I find that for a simple mini skirt the fabric brings that extra wow factor to the item.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a metallic mini skirt, slogan t-shirt and silver bootsA plus size woman making a face wearing a slogan t-shirt A plus size woman smiling wearing a slogan t-shirt and biker jacket

The thing I love about this outfit is that each item has a wow factor of it’s own. Take the slogan t-shirt for example, there are so many out there the market but this one has a fun simplicity about it. I have to say I felt really good wearing this outfit and the t-shirt did make me wanna say “OH YEAH”! I’m wearing this one in a UK 24, US 20. For a basic white tee I know i’ll be wearing this one with a variety of my outfits.

Of course no outfit is complete without an amazing pair of shoes! To see that the Glamorous Curve range included shoes was a huge bonus! I just had to have this pair of heeled silver chelsea boots with matte finish.  I love that the silver perfectly compliments the skirt and adds even more shine to the look. This is a pair that I plan to wear with many looks so keep an eye out here on the blog for some future styles. Simply Be currently have a large range of shoes and boots for people with wide feet and big calves so be sure to check them out here.

A plus size woman wearing metallic silver bootsA plus size woman smiling wearing mirrored sunglasses

We’ve not had many sunny days in London as of late. We’re in that strange phase when the days are ending earlier, nights are getting longer and skies are filled with grey. I took full advantage of the sunshine and pulled on a fab pair of mirrored sunnies from Polaroid. These Palladium shades seem to be the go-to pair when i’m dressed like a disco diva of sorts lol. Sometimes you just have to wear something that takes a look over the edge!

A plus size woman wearing a metallic mini skirt, slogan t-shirt and silver boots and a biker jacketA plus size woman smiling wearing a metallic mini skirt, slogan t-shirt and silver boots

So yeah, I like to have fun and be a little out of the box. Sometimes you just need to experiment and express yourself with the clothes that you wear. I decided to wear an outfit that not only said “OH YEAH” but made me feel sassy and fearless. I’ve said on previous posts that I’m trying to become more confident with my legs and so the best way for me to face a confidence demon is to meet it head on! The more my pins are out and on show the better i’ll feel about them. Putting on a pair of fish net tights and a shiny bright mini skirt is definitely a way for me to do so!

It’s All About The Ruffles

A plus size woman smiling wearing a pink gingham ruffle shirt, denim mini skirt and high heels

Don’t you just love it when you find an item of clothing that you can wear in many different ways? A few months back, I was at a preview for some fresh new styles for AW17. Block colours, fun prints and bold cuts were on display for us to see. Navabi is a brand that carries a collection of styles from a wide selection of plus size brands, each with their own flair and all with quality and originality at the forefront of their ethos. One of my very own blogging sisters Bethany aka Arched Eyebrow designed one of their current collections. You can see my review of her hot pink pussy bow blouse here. In truth the cobalt blue items were of course ones I wanted to try out but it was the pink lines that most captivated me, especially this ruffled gingham shirt.

A plus size woman wearing a pink gingham ruffle shirt, denim mini skirt and high heelsA plus size woman smiling wearing a pink gingham ruffle shirt, denim mini skirt and high heels

What immediately caught my eye was of course the baby pink gingham. As a huge lover of vintage fashion, gingham contributes to some of my favourite rockabilly and retro looks. The freshness of the colouring with this shirt made the item a transitional piece in my view. I opted to wear a denim mini skirt and high heels with this one but I could see myself styling it in many ways. This could make for a fun and vibrant item in the office or a fun casual item. I could even see this one being worn with a little cowgirl magic for a fab rodeo feel. Bethany 100% has a style of her own and these ruffles are most definitely her!

A plus size woman wearing a pink gingham ruffle shirtA plus size woman wearing a pink gingham ruffle shirt, denim mini skirt and high heels

Trying to find ways to make a classic piece like a shirt have something different can be a huge challenge. The cut and shape of this ruffled gingham shirt is flattering on women of all shapes, sizes, and colours. What I like is that the ruffles bring something fresh and new to whatever you match the shirt with. In my case I wanted a rodeo cowgirl look with a twist. Gingham is something I tend to pair with fun bandanas and cute handbags but I thought i’d let the shirt do the talking this time.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a pink gingham ruffle shirt, denim mini skirt and high heelsA plus size woman wearing a pink gingham ruffle shirt, denim mini skirt and high heels

People often assume that I have spades of confidence which I do, but we all have those areas we need to work on. In my case I struggle to show my legs. I hate that they’re covered in scars from playful times in my childhood and aren’t as shapely as I’d like. With all that being said I have always decided to throw myself into the deep end and showcase the very thing I hate to push the boundaries where my confidence lies. This has always helped me in overcoming those personal demons. It helps when you have a baby pink ruffled gingham shirt on with statement shoulders! I find that if you have on an item with a statement colour or cut, the focus is geared to that area. I also find myself feeling more comfortable in that situation.

If you’re looking for something bright and colourful this AW17 then you have to check out the collection by Bethany. Who said autumn and winter has to be dressed in black?! If like me you enjoy bringing colour to the colder months of the year you won’t be disappointed.

Having Fashion Fun With Binky

A plus size woman smiling wearing an oversized sweater dress and knee high boots

Reality TV is massive in today’s world. We see stars from various shows fronting many campaigns for apparel, beauty products and a variety of other items. I’m not into many shows of this nature but as a Londoner, Made In Chelsea has been my guilty pleasure for the past few years. The beautifully shot scenery of my home town and dramatic stories have kept myself and many other viewers hooked! One of the show’s longest running characters, who happens to be stunningly beautiful and stylish is Alexandra Felstead aka Binky. For quite a while now Binky has teamed up with a brand I love In The Style for some fun and fresh collections. I really love the casual and edgy feel of the items and I was happy to see that many items from the range are available in their Curve collection. This oversized sweater dress being one of them.

A plus size woman wearing an oversized sweater dress and knee high bootsA plus size woman wearing an oversized sweater dress and knee high boots

Summer in the UK this year was minimal. It’s fair to say that we didn’t have much of a season and so transitional looks are how I’m making the most of my wardrobe. I really like how simple this dress is whilst still having some colour and a bit of character. I should note that when it comes to In The Style Curve items I tend to wear sizes 22 and 24. With this dress I opted for a size 28 as I really wanted it to fit in an oversized way. It’s no secret that I have a large bust, big bum and a tummy. To get the desired look I decided to up-size, I’d say it’s a true to size item more than oversized.

A plus size woman smiling wearing an oversized sweater dressA plus size woman wearing an oversized sweater dress and knee high boots

I really enjoy wearing dresses that can be paired with others or worn on their own. I thought about wearing this one with some wet look leggings but decided against it. What girl doesn’t love a good pair of knee high leather boots? I pulled on some fun fish net tights and opted for my Jilsen Denise boots from Wide Calf Boot Store. Ladies like myself often struggle to find good quality boots to fit our calves. I can highly recommend this brand if you’re looking for a variety of style options this season. In my case I like a pair of knee high black boots for autumn and winter as they work with so many outfits.

A plus size woman smiling wearing a knee high wide calve boots A plus size woman smiling wearing a knee high wide calve bootsA plus size woman wearing an oversized sweater dress and knee high boots

I have to say I really love the range of clothing items in Binky’s range. It’s really nice to see that so many of the items in the main range are available in plus size too. This dress in particular makes me feel really sexy when wearing it even though it’s essentially an oversized sweater. The length is just right for a short dress and doesn’t hitch up high over my bum. The item makes for a fun casual piece that can easily be dressed up or down. The floral embroidered sleeves are really fun and the cute detail brings some rich colour to a black piece. I even found the perfect lippy to match the flowers, Orange Danger shade 883 from Maybelline.

I decided to wear this in a casual way but it could easily be dressed up with some cute stiletto heels, fun accessories and bright makeup. No doubt there will be more edgy and fun items to come from Binky and In the Style in the near future and I can’t wait to see them! Check out the other items in the current collection from In The Style Curve, rich colours, fun patterns and prints and sassy cuts are available. It’s definitely worth taking a look as there is something for everyone.

Check out my review of the Karina Dress which is still available.

Stay tuned here on the blog as I’ll be sharing more items from the brand here on the blog very soon!

Have fun with your look this season and don’t ditch those summer items just yet. You may be able to include them in a fun transitional look. If you are wanting something a little warmer you should definitely try out a sweater dress. Who would have thought that a sweater with a little extra length could be so fun and sexy to wear?!

Pink Isn’t Only For Barbie! A Lane Bryant Review

A plus size woman smiling wearing a pink convertible midi dress and white denim jacket

One colour I didn’t enjoy wearing too much in my younger years was pink! As it turns out I realise that the colour isn’t just for us women, it looks amazing on everyone of all shapes and colours. As I scroll through my social media feed I come to realise that all girls love pink! Makeup, clothing, accessories…you name it people everywhere are really feeling the many shades of pink. When I was in Las Vegas in July I found this incredible hot pink plus size convertible midi dress during my trip to Lane Bryant. When it comes to summer fashion we all love a bit of colour. I enjoy wearing bright, bold and striking colours when the sun is shining. With just a few days left in the season i’m making the most of the newest additions in my wardrobe.

A plus size woman wearing a pink convertible midi dress and white denim jacket holding a backpackA plus size woman wearing a pink convertible midi dress and white denim jacket

I guess you could say people tend to think of pink as a girly colour, which it is but, many people are rocking it in a variety of ways. I’ve seen men sporting some really nice summer suits, slacks even sunnies this season. Ladies like myself have been playing around with prints, florals etc.. I don’t own a lot of pink but when I do get items this colour, I tend to go for hot pink! I was on the lookout for something comfortable and flattering to wear in the sweltering Vegas heat. As soon as I saw this plus size convertible midi dress I went right to the fitting room to try it on! The gathered detail makes it hang in a way where it clings to only the best parts. In these pictures I’m wearing this dress strapless. It does however come with additional straps that can slide into sewn in clips. With 2 adjustable sections you can make them a closer fit or far apart depending on the width of your shoulders and what feels best for you. The top of the bust-line is elasticated for a snug and secure fit so either way works.

I’m only 5’5 in height and so for me the length of the dress is maybe a bit longer than intended but, if you want something a little shy of maxi length and you’re 5’7 or under this would be perfect. The fabric is a super soft jersey, lightweight and perfect on a really hot day. For a delicate and simple dress, the material is thick enough to withstand a strong breeze and will conceal your undergarments when stretched.

I feel super girly when I wear pink but, I like to think of myself as the queen of coordination. I’m one of these people where everything has to match. When styling this look I did think that to add more pink would take away from the dress. Not wanting to look too candy coloured I decided to pull on a white denim jacket, white brogue shoes and a white pleather backpack. I’m always on the go and so I need my fashion to be fun and practical at the same time. I did however decide to wear my favourite pink lippy, Raspberry Miracle 04 from Lumene.

So I guess it’s kind of funny, the older I get, the more cutesy and girly I become! I don’t think we ever grow out of playing dress up, even if we do it in a playful, understated sort of way. Casual or glamorous, come rain or shine I love bright colours. Your mood can become heightened just by what you wear, the spring in your step may get some extra bounce and people may even smile at you more frequently. I intended on wearing some much needed colour in the autumn and winter months. I plan on transitioning from light summer styles to some interesting but fun looks this coming fall. You will most definitely see me wearing some fun things, who knows maybe even more pink!

Check out this recent post where I feature hot pink in another summer style.

Retro Vintage Style – A Michael Jackson Tribute

This is the time of year when everything begins to change. Summer is fast coming to a close, autumn is approaching and school starts again for the youngsters. In my case the season has always brought with it madness and mayhem. By the time my school days were well and truly over another major element of my life began to really come into the forefront of things. Michael Jackson became an even bigger part of my life! It was back in October 2005 I finally saw the King Of Pop for the first time. In all of his superstar glory, MJ had arrived in my hometown of London and with this everything changed! Each year I love showcasing my fanship for Michael and this year i’ll be bringing in my retro vintage style!

All music fans out there like to represent their chosen style, genre or favourite artist. There were many years when I was limited in how I could incorporate MJ into my wardrobe. T-shirts were available in pretty much 1-2 dresses sizes, 99% of them in a black print or colourway. In all honesty there was great difficulty when it came to dressing in MJ related apparel and being girly at the same time. I like to be casual as much as the next person but every now and then my inner girly girl comes calling and I have to dress up in some way. When I found this amazing varsity style sweater I knew it had to be mine…

Of course I could rock this one with jeans but I wanted to do something a little different. As a lover of tutus and puffy skirts I thought I could bring a little MJ swagger into a sweet, cute and dainty style. I recently bought this white tutu and knew that with a cute pair of heels I could create a fun and fresh transitional outfit. Where did I find this amazing top with world famous dancing feet logo? Las Vegas Nevada…

This July one of my best friends Pez and I ventured out to Vegas for an MJ packed adventure. The plan was to do as many MJ related things as possible including getting some key items for Kingvention! For those of you who aren’t aware, myself and the boys celebrate Michael in ultimate style. Over the past 2 years we have thrown the only Michael Jackson fan convention that has reached the European continent! In a recent post I wrote called Bad Bitch you can find out in detail what is taking place this year!

As with many things concerning the King Of Pop if you want something done, you simply have to do it yourself! The sad thing is that there are millions of fans all over the world with limited outlets to have a good time and pay tribute en mass. I say this in reference to not only events and gatherings but also when it comes to merchandise. Fans for years have enjoyed fanzines, parties, special events etc. In recent years the option to pick up new apparel and merchandise has gotten even harder and more expensive…
Launching King Of Shop a few years ago we were able bring new official merchandise to the fans at a fair price. When the incredible stage show MJ One opened an amazing boutique and gift shop opened alongside the Cirque Du Soleil production.

Items that the fans had been seeking for years were finally available! Incredible right? The problem is that these are goods only available able to those who journey to Las Vegas. As you can imagine for many people this is a long way to go and extremely expensive. We decided that we would make the trip for the fans and pick up some goodies so that a little bit of MJ One could reach the UK and European fans. Many of these items are available at King Of Shop but, we have saved some specially for Kingvention attendees.

I went to the gift store every day that I was in Vegas! Truth be told, I saw the stage show in the middle of my trip. July 15th my birthday, I finally made it into the audience. I can honestly say that it was so worth the wait, it took me a few years to finally get there but I did it! A Michael Jackson event to a fan is like the NBA all stars event for a basket ball fan! If you have a ticket at the ready you can’t sit still until the day arrives! So there I was MJ-t-shirt on, black sequin jacket and all smiles. I have to say that anyone who has seen the Immortal show will be blown away by this one. It’s not at all what you expect and is very different to the first Cirque show based around Michael. Talk about a roller coaster of emotions. I laughed hysterically, cried with emotion, danced like I hadn’t in years and found myself awestruck. We see incredible acrobatics, choreography and MJ magic in one stage show!

One thing that was so incredible about seeing MJ One is the attention to detail. As soon as the doors open for you to walk in you are greeted by a stretched red carpet and paparazzi ready to take your photo! World famous costumes and props of Michael’s are on display in beautiful glass cabinets for all to see. A select menu of MJ style cocktails are available to enjoy in commemorative cups during the show… There is just so much to experience! The entire city of Las Vegas is celebrating Michael at the moment. Buses, trams, cabs, billboards and shuttles adorn the show’s Logo and of course I’m biased but, it’s not hard to see why the show is one of the best sellers of ALL the shows on the strip! The combination of Michael Jackson and Cirque is just perfection!

So as I said before, the boys and I will be celebrating MJ in style this September 30th. Limited tickets are available so if you’re an MJ fan, music lover or convention goer this is an event you simply cannot miss! Kingvention is by far the place to be this coming month. We have live interviews, performances, screenings, merchandise, exhibits, dancing and so much more! Be sure to get your ticket here!
