Slay Sista Slay!

You know it’s funny, sometimes the oddest things can make you adopt a different posture, mindset and even attitude! I was recently sent the most amazing statement t-shirt from one of my favourite brands Lane Bryant. I opened up a pretty little black box sealed with a bright red ribbon and the words “SLAY SISTA SLAY” were speaking loud and clearly to me! I know it sounds weird but when I saw the slogan gleaming up at me from the box I thought to myself ‘OK then, I will!’ I use the term slay a lot, I find that when I see someone totally rocking their style and pushing forward in their lives doing big things the term is often applied. I guess you could call it a seal of approval that is used all the time in street lingo and internet speak. It got me thinking though, why don’t I just throw on something fabulous hit the streets of London and do my thing!

You guys know how much I love monochrome outfits! I have a series of different black and white styles that I enjoy wearing but when it comes to t-shirts I tend to keep it more comfortable than anything else. I knew that my Manon Baptiste sequin bomber from Navabi was going to compliment the outfit I had in mind perfectly. I do enjoy wearing sequins and I love the fact that they are making their way into more casual clothing items. All Michael Jackson fans have sequins somewhere in their wardrobe and I’m most definitely a sequin wearing fan lol. I got this one in a size 24.

Hanna and I were out for lunch and she borrowed me her pleated leather skirt from Lane Bryant to go with my look. I love this skirt and i’m sad that it’s no longer available because I would have to get my hands on one for myself. I really like the length and the style. This is definitely an item that could work for edgy, sexy and sophisticated looks. A tutu might make for a more playful version of this outfit also. I slipped on a pair of black tights, my Vanity Boots from Hotter and I was almost slaying! I pulled out my twists, let my hair hang free applied a coat of Divine Wine (shade 975) lipstick from Maybelline New York and I was ready to hit the road…

It’s funny how fashion can dictate how you feel sometimes. Some styles can make you feel like a dainty princess, others a sexy vixen and many items have been known to make a woman feel like a boss bitch! You can’t help but walk with confidence when an outfit requires that you SLAY SISTA SLAY! I’m going to be on the look out for more fun slogan tees and I look forward to playing around with different looks.

Lane Bryant continue to be a brand that is pioneering body confidence in women of all ages, colours, shapes and sizes. Their latest campaign #This Body is all about how we as women can do anything we want! Dream big, sing big, dance big and pretty much do whatever makes you feel good whilst loving the skin you’re in and smiling hard! The commercial is amazing and I definitely see myself in this campaign. So ladies I say slay hard, do what makes you dream and reach high!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Karina Curvy – An In The Style Curve Review

*This Is A Gifted Outfit

Plus size fashion, curvy fashion, full figured fashion. There are many ways to describe clothing for us bigger voluptuous women and, there are many more than what I have listed here! I remember when curvy women weren’t even talked about at all, our clothing options were limited; often making many of us look and feel drab and older. In the past few years we have seen a rise in plus trends, popular curvy personalities and of course an increase in available fashion brands. The conversation about plus size is very much an ongoing one and like most things out there something that is quickly growing and evolving with the moving times. I feel that I would be remiss if I didn’t state the obvious fact that the internet is the catalyst for a lot of the changing developments and thank goodness for that! With the current sweep of online outlets and stores, companies from all industries are having to take up more of a supply in demand approach to how they do business and often the girl next door is out there setting the trends for what’s to come!

Internet stars have risen and taken the world by storm, bigger women are now not only considered sexy in the Western part of the globe, we are in a position where everyone is noticing us for many of the right reasons. The past few years we have seen many fashion brands come and go and they all had the same thing in common, they wanted to give the big girls some choices. I will be honest, in my opinion many of the brands that have come forth have been in the habit of thinking that big girls can’t and shouldn’t wear certain styles. I am happy and ecstatic to say that not everyone feels the same way and many are more than delivering the goods when it comes to bringing us forward thinking, sexy and chic styles that also have the quality behind them. I was recently at a launch party for the brand In The Style. Launching their Curve collection, I can honestly say for the first time in a long time I was seriously excited by what they were showcasing. The entire collection was full of fashion forward styles that would suit women of all shapes and enable them to have that sassy sexiness that many of the current A-list stars are sporting. The look book was not only filled with gorgeous clothing but beautiful curvy models who looked amazing! It was really refreshing to see a brand not get women at the smallest curvy size and pin them into clothes meant for the larger woman.

When I first saw the Karina White Skater Dress I knew that this was an item I could wear at work for a sophisticated look but one I could easily sex up for a date night or drinks out with the girls. The crisp white stretch material is really comfortable on and moulds perfectly to the curves, hugging and hanging in all the right places. I really like the long sleeves with fold in cuffs and the hanky hem detail at the back. I find that not a lot of skater dresses out there allow for the rise of a large behind or the curve of a belly and often times dresses can hike up at the back leaving you with the requirement of leggings to cover your dignity. I found that this dress was perfect for my 5’5 frame stopping just above the knee and falling a bit longer at the back. I’m wearing this one in a size 22 and found that with all the buttons closed it falls nicely across the bust with little to no gaping depending on the bra you might be wearing.

As soon as I got this dress I knew I wanted to wear it with my over the knee faux suede boots from Lane Bryant with nothing else but a pair of large hoop earrings as an addition. Having said all of that you all know I live in London, and the winters here can be more than frosty! I decided some black tights and my old faux fur coat from Yours Clothing would work well for a sexy winter monochrome look. I thought i’d keep my makeup pretty simple with a pop of a deep red lipstick from Maybelline New York I’m wearing shade 975 called Divine Wine.

I can’t wait to see what else is to come from In The Style Curve! I really like every single item in the collection which is rare for me with any brand! I’ll keep my eye out for their SS17 look book because if the selection of styles is anything as fresh as their AW16 collection, I know it will be a strong range with something for everyone!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Battling The Cold

It’s December and everyone is counting down the days as we approach Christmas and the New Year. I have to admit I really dislike the winter, for me summer is where it’s at; but I have to say despite my distaste of the season I still try to make the most of things. I may hate that the days are darker and daylight is scarce, the cold temperatures will always disagree with me and being around so many people full of cold is never fun! Having said all of that there are some things I enjoy about winter. For some reason people make that extra special effort to re-connect with their friends, family fun is visible everywhere and the incredible food available always makes social events even more appealing. We all have things that we do during the day and we all have places to be. The winter season is one time of year when we all need a good winter coat!

I was on the hunt for a new winter coat when I was contacted by the incredible team at Lovedrobe. I have many items from this brand (mostly dresses) and in truth I hadn’t seen much of their winter collection this year so it was great for me to be able to select one of their great winter coats to try out. I know it’s mental but I have to say in all honesty this is the first Parker I have ever owned! I tend to keep a basic approach when picking out a black winter coat but as time goes on i’m finding our winters even colder and, having to be up and out of the house really early made me want something with a warm and fluffy collar or hood. I really like the quilted pattern on this coat and that it has a fitted look. In all honesty most of the winter coats I have owned in the past have concealed my figure and many times I was left feeling as though I was wearing a sack!

The Faux Fur Quilted Coat is a really nice fit. I picked this one up in a size 24 and find that it’s roomy enough to wear with a nice thick jumper, the collar is extremely silky soft (even after I had been caught out in the rain). I love a good pair of jeans and I tend to gravitate towards black or indigo skinny jeans of some sort. In this outfit i’m wearing the black ultra stretch skinny jeans from Evans in a size 24. I didn’t want to wear all black on the day that I took these photos. I thought it would be fun to pair the coat and jeans with a lighter top. I decided to wear the Ivory Asymmetric Stripped Top from Evans, size 22. I love how light and airy this feels on and the slit down one side ads a fun detail to the shape.

In keeping with the black and creamy theme I wanted the perfect pair of winter boots to keep the cold at bay! In all honesty how I came to acquire these boots is a bit of a funny story. I was wearing a pair of slip on trainers one day at work when the glue came apart on the sole of the right shoe! My foot literally came right through the shoe! I quickly ran over the road to my local Sainsbury’s and picked these suede borg boots up for an emergency lol. The shoes I was wearing were falling apart on my feet and these boots literally saved the day (and my outfit lol). Their toffee brown colour really appealed to me and I really like the faux fur trim.

For me the winter is when I like to wrap up warm and be cosy. I still bring elements of my usual style into my look but in all honesty the priority for me is comfort and warmth this time of year. Having said all of that it is party season so I know it’s only a matter of days before I pull on a sexy little frock for a dinner somewhere.

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

It’s All In The LBD!

There are many terms and phrases that are applied to the clothes that we wear and many of them are amazing at describing a particular garment or style. I have my very own fashion phrase, I often refer to wearing a power colour. For me there are 3 power colours that I always enjoy wearing, can easily and comfortably style and know that whatever my makeup or hair style I can rock! These would have to be red, blue and of course black! Black is that staple colour that everyone has in their wardrobes. Some people rely on this shade for their signature look and work it into all of their outfits, others like to use it as a statement choice or for a more sophisticated finish. I used to pretty much live in black and it’s not hard to see why, every other colour works with it, any season appreciates it and everyone knows how to rock it!

All women are pretty much told that it is essential to own at least one black dress that can work for all occasions and situations. I have to be honest whilst I have many black dresses I have only recently gotten one that works for any occasion and it would have to be this amazing midi dress from Zizzi. This is a brand I have loved since I was first introduced to their fresh and fun style and, I have to say everything I have worn of theirs I have felt amazing in! This dress in particular is from a previous collection of theirs. I should note that they have some fab options similar to this available from many online and in store outlets in Europe. We Brits are fortunate to be able to get some of their hot items from UK outlet Navabi.

I can’t quite say I have a particular style of dress that I favour but I do tend to gravitate towards dresses that are midi length with 3/4 sleeves. I guess it’s because I know what shoes I would pair with them or what jacket lol. What I loved about this dress when I first saw it was how simple it is in it’s style whilst still having some small but very striking features. I really love the split at the front with the asymmetrical cut and the broach detail at the waist for a little added bling. The gathering is really flattering and also can help on those days when you just don’t want to wear any shapewear. I like the scoop neck detail and long sleeves with baggy upper arms. This is a dress that nips and hugs all the right places and flows across the curves beautifully.

You all know how I am when it comes to colours, coordination is key in my look and lucky for me having black hair makes things easy at times. I decided when styling this one I would keep things simple. My Vanity ankle boots from Hotter were a must for height and comfort. I wanted a boot that was simple with a little added flair and the gold zipper detail was perfect for my choice of accessories. In keeping with the gold of the boots I wore a supper long, skinny gold necklace. I’ll be honest I couldn’t find my gold hoop earrings anywhere and so my silver ones were worn. It worked out well though because my black, gold and silver bangle came in handy and my sequin clutch was the perfect bag to pull it all together. I just so happened to be wearing silver chrome nail polish too lol. My look was simple staple colours and tones but it all tied in together well. This dress is fast becoming one of my favourites to wear, I have worn it to work, out with friends for dinners and as somewhat of a modest party dress.

When I took these pics I was in a pretty good mood. You know when you’re having a day when you like how your make up came out and you think your hair is pretty much on fleek? I always wear a rich red lip when i’m wearing a fully black outfit. I find the small but sharp pop of colour adds a little extra something to the look. I also love how the contrast between my hair and the outfit combined with the red lipstick makes my teeth look so bright and white.

Confidence is the most important accessory you can bring to any look. I always find that if you feel good in what your wearing you tend to feel better during the day. You feel ready for whatever task is at hand, can walk with pride and get the job done! A Little black dress may be an essential element to the wardrobe of every woman, but it has to be something that makes you feel a million dollars when wearing it! I have to say I have a lot of fun wearing this dress and find that I get a little extra spring in my step as I feel so amazing wearing it!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Black And Gold – A Lane Bryant Review

*The Skirt and shoes are gifted items

Ever been through a daring phase when it comes to your style? I love trying out new styles and looks and seeing what works. I find that way too many people stick to the rules that they have set for themselves when it comes to their sense of dress. I used to tell myself that I couldn’t wear certain patterns, prints, and colours. I still have some colours I don’t play around with, due to the fact that they clash with my skin tone. I used to tell myself that I would never wear anything too shiny and that instantly changed last year when I purchased a metallic t-shirt dress! I think subconsciously I avoided shiny fabrics thinking that they would make me look larger in size than I actually am. Many people feel that way when it comes to white for example. I am happy to say I have since changed my tune and try to have fun with my clothes and, for the most part I’ll try out anything (within reason lol).

One thing that hasn’t changed is my need to coordinate my colours! I think this is part of my Caribbean DNA or something lol. I remember growing up my family and close family friends would always coordinate their looks and they made serious effort to look sharp! In some cases some might say they went quite far at times lol I remember seeing one of my mum’s friends in a bright pink suit, everything was the exact same shade of hot pink including the shoes, pocket square and bowler hat he used to top it all off! I usually like to work with 1 colour in many shades or I have some sort of contrast going. When I first saw this amazing black and gold pleated skirt from Lane Bryant I knew it had to be mine! I immediately knew how I would style it and so I was over the moon when the brand gave me the opportunity to review some of the garments in their current winter collection.

I’m wearing this skirt in a 22/24 and I have to say I absolutely love it! The fit is really comfortable and the elasticated waistband is a nice size, it’s thick enough for comfort and security but it doesn’t bend or fold against your stomach as you move. I paired this skirt with a simple black long sleeved turtleneck t-shirt. My initial idea was to go for a sort of Parisian-artist look. The French are well known for their love of beret hats and as this is my usual hat of choice, I knew I had to include my black one into the look. I wanted an outfit of black and gold!

You all know my love of Hotter shoes! The brand are well known for making shoes that have great quality materials, amazing comfort and fit! I have several pairs of shoes from them and I can attest to this! If you haven’t tried them out yet you really should! I was recently gifted a pair of Vanity Bootsfrom the brand and these boots made the perfect addition to the look. The highest pair of heels I have had from Hotter and these are still built with amazing technology that makes for a pain-free experience when worn for long periods of time. The gold zip adornment is what first caught my eye when I saw these boots and they made for a nice feature on the shoe. To finish off the look I picked out a faux fur clutch and extra long gold chain.

It’s the time of year when everyone likes a little extra shimmer and sparkle and lucky for us sequins and glitter are very much in at the moment! Have fun with your style and get into the Christmas Spirit! There are some great winter looks this season from Lane Bryant. Check out their website, there’s something for everyone!

Stripe It Lucky! – A Zelie For She Review

I have been meaning to write about this dress for ages, but with the weather all over the place I never really found the right time to wear it. Zelie For She is a brand I have kept a firm eye on for quite some time now. I love the various different collections that have come from the brand and I have to say the fresh and edgy approach is more than welcome. The independent brand focuses on creating fun and sexy clothes for us plus size women and one of the things I love the most is that they are not afraid to break the rules!

As the brand is based in Los Angeles I hadn’t had the chance to try something from them and by chance I happened to enter an Instagram competition that they held a few months ago and I was gifted a gift card to purchase an item with. This Strike Out Dress immediately caught my eye as I thought it would make for a great urban street look. Also the model in the stock images looked amazing wearing it and I new I had to get my hands on one!

We plus size women have heard for years that we are to avoid bright colours, horizontal stripes and a plethora of other dos and do not dos when it comes to our state of dress. I LOVE the fact that this t-shirt dress is top to bottom horizontal stripes! I’m wearing this one in a 3xl. What I love about this dress besides the pattern and combintion of stone tones and thick splashes of red is the fit! Not often do I buy something that is meant to look oversized and have it look that way! Usually my boobs and bum make the dress cling a little tighter and it ends up looking semi-bodycon. The v-neck cut hangs in a really nice place and allows the dress to showcase the shape of your bust whilst still being modest. I’m 5 feet 5 inches tall and this dress stops just below the knee. I wore this one bare legged but it would look great with some skin coloured or opaque tights. I love that the sleeves cut across my hands. I have always liked long sleeves and the way that they look on me. This also adds to the oversized style of the dress. This dress is perfect for this time of year as the fabric is light and airy and extremely spacious. This has that feeling of your favourite t-shirt that you have washed loads of times, making it feel really soft against the skin.

I wanted to add this dress into a biker look. I of course opted for my biker jacket from Yours Clothing, as this dress is light this would add a nice amount of coverage towards the end of the day when the breeze starts to set in. Worn with some lace up biker boots and I had the overall look I was after. To finish off I wore a metallic necklace and my hoop earrings. I wanted to use silver adornments to work with the grey in the dress and to set off the red I of course pulled out my red bandana and red lipstick.

I love having choices when it comes to my sense of style and I really love switching things up from classic and vintage to modern and on trend to a combination of things. Fashion is meant to be a place to experiment and express ourselves so I love having fun with my look. I enjoy breaking the rules that have been set by society and showing everyone that we can rock what we have and in the trends you have vetoed for us.

Unfortunately this dress is no longer available but check out Zelie For She to see what amazing new styles they have available. They ship worldwide and I can honestly say you will love whatever you buy! I can’t wait to rock this look to a club or something!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Invasion Of The Killer Curves – A Nicky Rockets Review

*This t-shirt was a gifted item

The past few years has seen some really interesting twists and turns for the plus size community. We have seen a huge surge of people championing body confidence and trying to push the envelope with how we treat ourselves and how we wish to be treated by society. Those of you who are familiar with my blog will know that I am a huge advocate for body confidence. I like to see women of all shapes and sizes making the most of what they have and doing so with style and finesse. Now I must state (as people love to make presumptions) I’m not here to promote obesity by any means, I personally would like to lose some weight but I figure whilst I am the shape and size that I am, I may as well enjoy myself and embrace what’s out there with my beauty and style options.

Recently we have seen a whole host of new brands sweep onto the market and for the first time plus size women are being spoilt for choice when it comes to fashion. I have never had so many fabrics, colours and prints in my wardrobe before and I have to say I am loving it! I will say this though, there are still some elements to my old style that I simply can’t drop and that is my love of t-shirts. I used to wear my t-shirts in a pretty safe and understated way and it was my mission last year to try and incorporate them into some of my most stylish outfits. One woman who knows a lot about how to play with t-shirt styles is Betty Pamper. Winner of last year’s Best Blogger award at the British Plus Size Awards, MUA and business woman there’s not a lot Betty isn’t involved in. She and husband Nicky created an amazing line of plus size t-shirts that not only have a fun alternative edge, these tees are also a really fun and fresh way for plus women to embrace their curves and show the world that they look hot doing it! Check out the entire collection here. At the recent cupcake party and photoshoot Betty I took part in last weekend for Scarlett & Jo; we spent a lot of time talking about the plus industry and how fashion for plus women has changed over the years. Betty then said that she would send me one of the t-shirts from the collection, and even in the middle of a busy shoot I was thinking about how I might style it.

With all the recent changes and developments in the plus arena it’s pretty befitting that one of the leading designs from Nicky Rockets is the very t-shirt I had to get my hands on. Who could resist a design with a hot and curvy chick which reads ‘Invasion Of The Killer Curves‘! The simple black and white design was one I could definitely incorporate into a monochrome look! Slashed t-shirts have always been my thing, I used to buy t-shirts and cut them across the shoulders, so to be able to get a t-shirt that is already slashed in the right place is definitely a bonus and brings with it that cool 1980s flair that I really love! The t-shirt is also available in ladies fit, round neck and in a vest format and comes in sizes S – 4XL so there’s something to suit everyone. The fit of these tees is true to size and the fabric is a really strong yet soft material.

I decided to pair mine with my Contrast PU Leggings from Misguided, size 24. When styling t-shirts I like to add a little something extra to take it from being a simple casual item to a more stylish one. The pleather fronts of these leggings for me provide a little bit of rock edge and also comes in handy this time of year as they’re really warm to wear. I of course had include a houndstooth print where possible so my new Black Dogtooth Trim Shoe Boots from Evans were a must! To finish up I knew I had to add red lippy and so my ruby red glitter lips had to be worn (review to come soon). For accessories I wanted to wear something a little different so my so my steel and black diamonte chaps chocker and bracelet and black hair scarf completed my look.

I have to say it’s really nice to see people really appreciating and enjoying their curves and for the first time in a long time full figured bodies are really being celebrated so I’m sure that loads of you out there will want to get your hands on your own Rockets tee!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Inbetween The Red And Black – An Ann Harvey Review!

*This Dress Was A Gifted Item

When it comes to looking good we all have an idea of what makes us not only look good, but feel amazing too. I dress according to my mood and sometimes I wanna get dolled up and seriously girly. When it comes to appropriate work wear I tend to gravitate towards nice blouses and trousers or smart and sophisticated dresses. As I work in a showroom my style has to be appropriate yet smart. I like to still bring a little of my personal style to my work look.

Recently I was contacted by Bonmarche and they gave me the chance to review a dress from their current Ann Harvey collection. I took a look at the collection and was most drawn to the Baroque Print Dress. The intricate pattern of red and black swirls really caught my eye. The colours were nice and rich and the wrap style of the dress was a shape I knew I could pull off. I liked the length of the dress stopping just at the knee and the short sleeves. This to looked like a really nice piece to just hug the curves in the right places and hang nice and loosely in the areas where you want more room.

I got this dress in a size 22 and the fit is really comfortable. I should note that I do wear this dress with shapewear as the fabric can cling a little to your behind and stomach. If like me you have a large bust this dress will showcase a generous amount of cleavage. I pin down one of the panels to reduce the amount of cleavage shown. If I am to wear this dress out for a dinner or something I most likely won’t pin it as I feel comfortable with my cleavage exposed but for work I will continue to pin it to make it a more appropriate piece for the work environment.

I really like the fit of the dress as the under lining it a really lightweight material that is silky soft to the skin. This also helps the top layer of fabric stay in place. Some dresses are known to shift upwards at times and can rise at the back or around the knees. This dress is a comfortable piece that you can wear without having to be concentrated on keeping the hem line in it’s rightful position.

There is a slight gathering under the bust line which serves as a built in cinch and is held in place by a metallic buckle. If you have a larger bust like I do then the buckle may shift in place; it didn’t bother me though as it’s such a small detail which is really comfortable and doesn’t dig into the skin.

I paired the dress with my Legroom boots from Fashion World. As I spent a lot of my day on my feet I tend to reach for flat footwear more than heels although a pair of nice black or red patent shoes would go really nicely with this dress if I was wearing this for a dinner engagement. I kept my jewellery to a minimum wearing only my hoop earrings and a black diamonte pendant necklace, both from Primark.

Sometimes I like to keep things simple and not wear too many accessories with my clothes. I think that it’s nice to let the clothes do the talking and keep the adornments to a minimum.

If you like the look of this dress and want to pick it up yourself or you would like to see the rest of the Ann Harvey collection at Bonmarche click here.

Release The Hounds – A Lane Bryant Review

When it comes to jackets there are a lot of things I look at when picking out an item. I like items that work with other bits in my wardrobe. I think about the clothes I currently have and how I might style the new piece with them. I like jackets that I wear as a simple cover up and often these are the focal point to my look. I gravitate towards interesting adornments or features in a jacket and if those aren’t the things catching my eye it tends to be the colour or print. I have always liked items that can remain in your wardrobe and aren’t necessarily what’s “in” at the moment. Unfortunately I don’t have the kind of bank balance that allows me to dispose of items just because they are not in season. To be honest with you I wouldn’t want that anyway. I love the feeling of buying a new outfit and being absolutely in love with it, so much so that to part with it would be a challenge!

I have made no secret about my love of things that are classic and vintage. Polka dots, pleats and prints. This year I have worn a fair amount of items which have a houndstooth print. When I saw this gorgeous Moto Jacket from Lane Bryant I absolutely fell in love with it! This was something I knew I could wear with many of my clothes both in and out of the office. I loved that for such a sophisticated item it came with a casual twist. Under the arms at the waist line of the jacket there is a thick black panel which accentuates the shape in the waist and is a nice way to break up the print. The zip fastening takes the jacket up and across the chest in a diagonal style and provides a really nice coverage. I have worn this item at work almost in the form of a blazer with smart black trousers, a camisole and heels. For office wear it makes for a really practical and comfortable piece.

I got this in a size 24 which leaves me plenty of boob room and allows me to fasten it completely with a sweater underneath. Despite the fact that this feels quite light weight on it is still quite warm so if like me you prefer to wear thinner layers this one will provide great coverage and warmth. The lining is really silky to the touch and makes for a really comfortable jacket.

With this outfit in particular Hanna and I were on afternoon walk looking for cool spots to take some pictures for our blogs and we came across this really cute street nearby where all the houses were painted in beautiful pastel colours. It’s nice when see things like that close to where you live. Especially as London can be quite colourless in places.

With this outfit I was feeling quite casual and seeing as there was a little winter sun I thought I’d take advantage of the situation and wear one of my favourite summer dresses. The cold shoulder dress from Boohoo has made for a pretty cool staple piece that I was able to use in various looks. I wanted something loose fitting and oversized so I got this one in a size 24. The weather wasn’t quite warm enough for tights so I opted for a simple pair of black leggings. I wanted a little extra bling for this look to accent the classic print in the jacket so my Legroom boots from Fashion World were a must!

For my jewellery I opted for some items from Primark; the necklace earrings and ring. I couldn’t resit wearing my houndstooth satchel with this outfit either. It just seemed like the perfect bag for this look. I know it’s houndstooth overload but I just couldn’t resist. You may have also noticed recently that I’m pretty into my hats at the moment, especially berets so I opted for my old favourite from Simplybe.

If you like the look of the jacket or have something similar please send me some pictures, I’d love to see how you styled the item and what you did with it. This is most definitely one of those items I will hold onto for a while and it will most definitely appear in some other looks of mine. Don’t be afraid to change a perceived look, play around with your clothes. Some causal bits can be made more dressy and some more sophisticated items can be taken down a more causal route. Have fun with your outfits and try out different things.

Remember what ever you wear, feel fabulous in it and where it with a smile!

Blue Magic – A Lane Bryant Review

I love being able to blend work wear into my casual style. We can’t all afford to have totally separate wardrobes for day wear and night attire. These days I tend to be all over the place a meeting here, a dinner there. It’s not often that I have the chance to go home and change from location number one before I’m required at location two. For me the busy schedules and numerous commitments can make styling your looks be somewhat of a challenge sometimes. I work in a customer facing role where how you present yourself can be just as important as how you present the products you’re selling. Luckily in my case I am able to incorporate my wardrobe into my work life making it easier when shopping and selecting my outfits in the morning.

I have said many times on this blog how much I love the colour blue and that whenever I see anything in the colour I’m instantly drawn to it. When I first saw this Embellished Button Back Tee from Lane Bryant it was a must have item for me! This was something I knew I could wear to work at the office and still add a casual twist to the look to make it wearable at any time. Despite the fact that blue is my favourite; I definitely don’t own enough items in the colour so when I do see one I like it’s always a positive thing for me.

The Tee has a black panel at the back and small buttons all the way down the back. With a lightweight feel I have worn this top with a pencil skirt at work, jeans and leggings. The short sleeves make this one I like to match with jackets. Seeing as it’s getting colder by the day the extra coverage is more than welcome in my case.

I took these pictures on a pretty weird London day. With the constant stop-start game the clouds were playing making it rain every other hour it was hard to know what to wear. I decided that even though I had an umbrella to hand I would wear a hat so as not to get the front of my hair wet. I pulled out an old sequin beret that I bought from Primark years ago and the colour was just right to compliment the tee. A simple black pair of leggings was my next choice. To finish off the look I pulled on my PU Biker Jacket from Yours Clothing and slipped on my Shawberry Boots from Hotter. After adding my mandatory hoop earrings and necklace I was ready and set.

When I was going through the pictures for this post I got to think about what we mean when we call something a staple piece of clothing. Some people would refer to a staple item as something basic that we all own like plain black top or something like that. For me a staple piece of clothing is an item that I can incorporate into a series of outfits and even wear across different styles. This Lane Bryant Tee for me is one of those items not only because of the colour but because of the cut and fit. The material makes this one hang nicely against your frame. The sheer material is really soft against the skin and doesn’t cling tightly in any area. I got this one in a size 22/24 which for me worked out really well due to the buttons at the back. A smaller size most definitely would have fit but one or two of the buttons may have gaped ever so slightly. If like me you have think about the size of your bust or if you have any back fat then you might want to up size in this one.

You know what I always say, go through your wardrobe! Pull things out, see what items work together either through colours, prints and fabrics and see if you can get at least 2 different looks out of some of your clothes. This will not only give you more outfits to play with on a smaller budget you’ll also get a proper wear out of your clothes. In my case I like to have items I can wear either across seasons or items that look stylish and chic both during the day and night. You might find some cool combinations that you hadn’t thought of previously.

Remember what ever you where, feel fabulous in it and where it with a smile!
