Gold Dust – The Perfect Duster Jacket – A Boohoo Review

This year a huge fashion item has been the duster jacket. Tons of brands have had these available in an assortment of colour and print variations, different fabrics and interesting cuts. When it comes to my jackets and coats I like to select items that I can picture wearing with existing items in my wardrobe. A few weeks ago I had a bit of a shopping haul on Boohoo, they had an amazing offer which took 20% off all of the items in the plus range. I had been looking for a duster jacket that would act as a staple and work with many of my favourite items. I like wearing shrugs, boleros and cool jackets as my cover ups and when I saw the Natasha Checked Duster Jacket it had to be mine!

The interesting pattern reminded me of a top that I have from Lane Bryant. As I have been able to work that into several different looks I knew this would be the same. The length of the garment matches loads of my bodycon and t-shirt dresses and the simple black and white colour makes this an adaptable item that works with pretty much anything.

I picked this up in a size 24. I always buy my jackets and coats in a larger size so that they hang nicely with the clothes underneath. The 3 quarter length sleeves are a really nice touch especially if this is worn with a dress or short sleeved top. Short lapels and no pockets make this one a really nice cover up.

I paired this with the Cream Contrast Powerfit dress (size 22) by Scarlett & Jo. Check out my full review of my favourite bodycon dress that I have in 5 colours! All Scarlett & Jo Items can be purchased from Evans. Unfortunately the Powerfit dress isn’t available at the moment but stay tuned as there are some gorgeous new lines from the brand!

When putting this look together I was thinking about the amazing events that are happening this time of year. Christmas dinners, drinks, new years celebrations and I wanted a casual/sexy outfit that had that little something extra and showcased my curves in an understated yet chic way.

I decided to keep this look very simple with my usual makeup of black winged eye liner, mascara, brows and foundation. Accessories I kept to a minimum wearing only a pair of twisted hoop earrings and a black diamonte heart pendant. I finished up the look with some black platform heels and I was set.

Wearing this jacket as part of a monochrome look really works but if you wanted a shock of colour you could pair it with black or white skinny jeans and then a coloured top. I would tend to gravitate towards something blue personally but any would work. Alternately fun statement jewellery or coloured acrylic accessories would look really cool.

This Jacket is still available from Boohoo in sizes 16-24 so if you like it and want to try it out it’s just been reduced in price and is only £25!

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Metallic Magic! A Boohoo Plus Review

This time of year everyone is feeling really festive enjoying the seasonal events and treats that come with. Winter Wonderland, fancy dinner parties and loads of cocktails. I think this time of year people make that extra effort with their sense of style. They want to look the part and are more than ready to be showered in sequins and sparkles and I can totally see why. Christmas lights are up, Santa’s grotto is in almost every major department store and with all of this comes the need for the perfect outfit.

I enjoy wearing a little bling every now and then. I find that if you want a more relaxed look without the need for many accessories; metallic fabrics or sequins can do all of the work for you. Boohoo recently had an amazing offer on their plus size collection with 20% discount on everything so of course I had to take advantage of the situation! To be honest it was hard for me to make a selection because I liked nearly everything in the collection! This is never the case when I’m online shopping but this time I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The Kelly Metallic Oversized T-shirt Dress caught my eye as soon as I saw it. I really liked the quilted effect of the fabric and the colour. I don’t tend to wear much gold jewellery so I figure this dress more than makes up for that fact!

I absolutely love the fit of the dress as it skims your frame perfectly and it moulds nicely to my bust and my behind. I should note that I’m not wearing any form of shapewear in these pictures as I wanted to have a more comfortable, relaxed fit but I may wear some the next time I take this dress for a spin as it can cling a little to my belly. This isn’t an issue or anything I think it would just look a little better if I were to wear this out to a club or something. The length is really nice; stopping just above the knee. I got this one in a size 24. With a fabric like this one 96% Polyester and 4% Elastane it feels nice and lightweight on and has plenty of room. I decided to pair this dress with a pair of shiny black leggings. As I have a rather large behind I have to be careful with some dresses because the fabric would be likely to slide up at the back exposing my undergarments. For this time of year with the cold really coming in I wanted the extra coverage anyway.

I really like the ruffled detail on the sleeves and by the hemline of the dress. It gives the garment a little more structure to the shape and actually helps it to sit in the right places. For me one of the main draws with this dress is the colour. Even though it is gold there is a slight silver finish to the piece which makes the dress look different shades depending on the lighting. I really like the way it looks against my skin tone. I feel that this is definitely a piece that can be worn both casually and dressy and I will most likely be wearing this at a dinner or over some Christmas cocktails.

I feel like a real diva in this dress. Even though the shape is simple the fabric and the shimmer it has makes me feel really sexy despite the fact that none of my assets are exposed. I guess this is one of those less is more kind of outfits. I decided to finish this look off with a simple leopard print clutch, black heels and my signature hoop earrings.

Remember whatever you wear, feel fabulous in it and wear it with a smile!

Bringing Autumn And Winter Together

So the clocks have turned back by an hour and the official start of the winter season has been marked. At the moment though we are still in that in-between stage where heavy jackets, snugly scarves and thick winter warmers aren’t quite required just yet. The good thing about this time of year is that opportunity we have to be more playful with other elements to our wardrobe attire. Cute hats, funky accessories and warmer colours are hitting the stores and with that we are able to wear the odd summer item with some more seasonal items to create an outfit.

Admittedly I don’t have many earthy tones in my wardrobe and I don’t have many green or brown items in my wardrobe. I think these are great colours and they work with a variety of different styles but I haven’t found many items that have caught my eye. Having said that when something really works for me I will usually buy it in more than one colour. When I first saw this cold shoulder dress from Boohoo I picked it up in black but I have to say this Lime green colour really works for me and I like the contrast in colour against my skin tone. I’m not afraid of fitted or tailored clothing by any means but I have to say it is nice to have the odd item that simply skims over your frame rather than hugs it. The single bold colour also acts as a canvas in a way allowing you to accessorise or dress up the look any way you want.

The cut and length of this dress makes it a nice one to wear as a single item or styled with leggings and a cute jacket or coat. I thought that my Black PU Biker Jacket from Yours Clothing would work well with this look. The tailored cut of the jacket compliments the looseness of the dress and the length is a nice one if you want to feel coverage without having to wear a long or heavy jacket. The side zip detail and pockets make this a piece that would work with my different items and I look forward to styling this one with other looks soon.

For me one of the most important elements to an outfit during the autumn winter months is footwear! With the weather being so changeable and unpredictable I feel it’s important to be prepared for what’s to come and to incorporate style with practicality. I was recently gifted a pair of Shawbury Boots from Hotter. I have to say I had never owned a pair of shoes from the brand beforehand and I wish that I had! The shoes are built in such a way that makes them really bouncy and they are incredibly comfortable. The soles of the shoes are built like inbuilt gel cushions, only better! There are tons of tiny little air bubbles in the soles of the shoes which not only make the shoes more comfortable they give you that extra spring in your step that’s needed when the weather goes from warm and sunny to dark and gloomy. I always try to weather strong leather boots this time of year as they are the best thing for battling the wet and cold. If you are considering trying out something new you should check out the Hotter site to see what other styles are available.

This time of year I like to wear hats every now and then and so I thought I would finish off this look with a beret I bought from Simply Be many years ago. This is often my go-to hat when I’m either having a bad hair day or I need a little extra coverage this time of year.

My usual hoop earrings were included with this look and I thought I’d wear a recent purchase of mine with this one. When I saw this medallion necklace with tassel detail from Primark it was one of those must have items for me. I like really long necklaces as having a large bust can often make necklaces hang a little higher than I would like so anything that can add length often catches my eye. Being a fan of wearing a little bling; I wanted to include the Crystal Detail Stack Ring from Evans. Sometimes Just a few bold pieces of jewellery can really set off a look.

Before you go and stash away all of your summer favourites take a second look as you may find the odd item of clothing that you can incorporate into this season’s looks. With this outfit I could have worn an interesting scarf, different style jacket and boots. There are many ways you can switch up a look and it can be the finishing touches that gives something that different style.

Animal Magic! A Junarose Review

Hey everyone I hope all is well. I’m sorry that things have been quiet here on the blog recently. I have been snowed under at work and I had a lot to take care of before I could get back to posting. The good news is that there are a lot of new and fun trends to talk about this season. I have some new looks to share with you all and we’re about to approach the winter holiday season

I was recently at a blogger event for one of my favourite brands Junarose. The event was in conjunction with MSSVG and showcased some of their amazing new lines, set to be with us next spring. At the event we were lucky enough to pick an item from their current collection to review. As soon as I saw the gorgeous animal print jacket I new that was the item I wanted to try the most.

I make no secret about the things I really like in fashion and I have to admit I am forming a bit of an obsession with animal prints. I have skirts, tops, lingerie and now this gorgeous jacket! When it comes to the cold months of the year I usually feel uncomfortable weather-wise. Mountains of layers are required to keep the cold at bay and the constant fight against the wind and the rain is never fun. For me the most important thing when it comes to my winter wardrobe are my coats. Usually practicality and comfort give way to style which is why I was so excited to try this thick and puffy jacket which encompasses the practicalities and comfort I need with my sense of style. I picked this one up in a XXL. Depending on how big your waist and breasts are you may need to be careful when selecting a size for this one. The jacket tappers in slightly around the waist to accent the curves we have there. In my case I usually have to size up with any clothing items which need to be zipped or button fastened because of my bust size.

The season tends to present us with loads of dark colours and prints so to be able to add a splash of colour and style into the mix only makes for cool winter looks.

I have to say I really like the feel of this coat on. The lining is thin which makes wearing sweaters and stuff quite comfortable for a jacket of this shape. I also like the fact that it is really warm when on; so if you’re one of the people who doesn’t like to wear thick layers in the winter this would be one that you will enjoy wearing with tees and other lighter items. Despite being a fairly puffy jacket it’s not heavy in weight at all and makes for a really comfortable wear.

Even though this jacket has an animal print on it; the colours are rich and more subtle than some of the other animal print jackets and coats on the market. I really like the fact that for a bold print it doesn’t look too jazzy or bright. I should also mention that I have recently worn this in the rain and it doesn’t drink in the rain water like some of my previous coats have. No one wants to have to wear a coat or jacket that gets heavy and water logged in the rain. The pockets are also fairly deep and have snap button detail for security.

With this outfit I decided to put the jacket with a cold shoulder dress by Boohoo size 24. I like dresses like these to hang loosely on my frame because of the neck detail and length. I think that items like this can be really unflattering on my frame if they are too fitted as they hang loose in areas and cling too much in the breast and stomach areas. I paired this dress with a simple pair of black trousers and my Legroom boots from Fashion World.

I thought I would keep the accessories to a minimum and so I wore my black and pink lightning bolt necklace, my trademark hoop earrings and simple black bag. As the weather is getting colder my hair scarves will most definitely be making many appearances in my looks. I love them as an accessory because they are a great way to keep warm and hide the odd bad hair day!

I’d like to take a moment to give a shout-out to Dale Grimshaw. I may not have met him but when we stumbled across his gorgeous artwork it made for a really fun background for these outfit pictures. What a talent!
