It’s All About Love

It’s the first week in December and with that comes talks of family, friends, gatherings and of course love. The UK is always buzzed this time of year but after hearing the news of Prince Harry’s engagement it seems love is something the whole country is thinking of. Mistletoe is hanging everywhere, romantic movies are on show. Parties, dinners and other celebrations are taking place all over the country…. And it’s no surprise that already a date is set for our favourite royal and wedding bells will be ringing in May. I am a huge fan of love in all of it’s forms and I enjoy wearing things to represent that. When I saw this cute off the shoulder sweater from Rose Gal I knew I wanted to try it. This one is available in red, white and grey also.

Sometimes you want a girly look with a twist. I paired this sweater with a pleather skirt from Zizzi that I was sent with some other samples. Deciding to keep everything black I thought i’d throw in a splash of colour in places. Wearing a cute pair of satin trainers in my favourite colour blue, these are from a recent Asos collection. When my clothes are black I like to wear red lipstick with my makeup.

I’m a sucker for all things love related. I enjoy seeing people gather and sharing positive vibes. Being out and about seeing people romantically in love and doing kind things for others makes me smile. The funny thing is that in some cultures my name carries the meaning so maybe there’s something in that lol. At present I pretty much have a non existent romantic life. Not a woman who gets in my feelings about these things, I like to focus my energies on loving myself and those around me. Of course I start with trying to spend time learning and building my faith, eating right, sleeping well, exercising and taking the time to see friends and family. I won’t try to pretend to be perfect though, like everyone else I have my faults…

Things often happen that challenge how we see things. I’ve been doing my best to stay positive but things keep happening to make that difficult. Just a couple of days ago my eldest uncle passed away and this led me to again seeing the importance of family closeness and support for each other. Even sometimes when you mentally prepare for something the reality of it can still knock you for six. Honestly, I don’t know where I would be if I didn’t have people in my life who look out for me and show me that level of love and care. My new mission in life is fast becoming to be a support for others as best I can.

The aim is to encourage people everywhere to be confident, positive, motivating forces in their own lives. In a recent post I published on instagram I wrote “You would be surprised how many people are down, lonely and hurting in some way. The little things you can do for someone can mean more to them than you could possible know! A simple compliment or a smile can be all a person needs so be sure to spread your kindness as much as you can!” I guess you could say I have experience with dealing with negativity and can first hand speak on how you can be a blessing to someone without even really trying.

We should treat people the way we wish to be treated, this is something I truly believe. A simple act of kindness to someone can make the world of difference and is a great way of spreading the love!

Silver Is The Way!

When it comes to fashion trends I tend to take on elements of what’s popular. One trend that totally captured me this season is silver fashion! Metallic clothing items really bring some fun edginess to a look, they work in all seasons and give ladies like me that little extra shine we love! Another trend that has really taken a life of it’s own this season is fun velvet. Elvi recently gave me the opportunity to review one of their items. You can only imagine my thoughts when I got the chance to combine the 2 trends not only in an outfit but a single item!

The nude gold coloured velvet of this t-shirt is easily worked into a variety of outfits. I like that it’s a neutral shade and compliments all skin tones. The velvet is light on the skin but has a nice amount of stretch also. I’m wearing this one in a size 24. I am currently obsessed with not just silver items but chrome silver! The different sized chrome loops are a really fun feature on the pocket of the t-shirt. They add that little something extra to the item that makes it stand out.

When I got this top I knew that I had the perfect pair of heels to wear with it. I had been hunting for a pair of silver chrome stiletto heels since I had seen that the trend was coming several seasons ago! The challenge was finding an affordable pair that was comfortable and sexy at the same time. I found this pair at Asos several weeks ago. Unfortunately they are sold out but here is a similar pair if you want a pair of your own.

When it comes to velvet items they tend to bring out my sexy side. Feeling fun, flirty and a very fashionable makes dressing all the more enjoyable. In completing this outfit I wanted a really simple selection of colours. Black goes with everything of course so I selected a leather skirt, fish net tights and my largest silver hoop earrings. I have a range of style ideas when it comes to wearing this top. It can be worn with jeans, wet-look leggings and all kinds of skirts.

I think it’s important to select clothing items that make you feel confident, comfortable and fabulous. I find that even when pushing the boundaries there are ways to expand and experiment. You may have noticed I’ve been wearing a lot of skirts lately. I guess you could say I’m trying to improve my skirt game and get that bit more confident in showcasing my legs. There are many ways of playing around with fashion so get to trying I say!

I’m going to start as I mean to go on and will be on the hunt for more silver and velvet items. The party season is coming with Halloween, Christmas and New Years so why not?! Shiny things and glamorous velvet are perfect for the winter and will always work year in year out!

Speaking of Silver you may remember earlier in the year I wore a fabulous trench coat. This was another fab item from Elvi. Check out their current collection for some fab edgy styles this season.

High In My Stripes

I’m a firm believer in making a statement. I’m someone who has never been afraid to speak my mind or showcase my personality and I guess when it comes to choosing my clothes I adopt the same mindset. I believe everyone should have an outfit or 2 that makes a statement and catches the eyes of many when you walk in the room. I like to experiment with patterns, prints and bold colours. I tend to have the most fun when it comes to dresses and skirts and one thing I love doing is playing around with monochrome looks.

One of the oldest patterns known to man and one of my favourites to wear is stripes! Unfortunately for years there has been this insane rule that says that larger people should only be seen wearing vertical stripes as they are “slimming”. I’m no fan of following fashion rules, I buy the clothes that catch my eye and I enjoy wearing and, although I don’t wear this dress often I always feel great when I do! I remember buying this dress a few years ago from Asos and what I loved about it back then is what I love about it now, the series of stripes in random directions in monochrome.

Admittedly this dress is made of a rather thin material and so with that in mind I the weather has to be suitable in order to pull this one out of the closet. Sometimes you want a sexy fitted bodycon dress that does all the talking for you. It’s no secret I enjoy wearing tight dresses and more often than not ones that are slightly lower cut and expose a fair amount of cleavage. I like the modesty of this dress and find that it can be worn pretty much anywhere. I really like the length of this one as it stops just below the knee and can be paired with many different items for a fun look. With 3/4 sleeves this dress is one that is easy to wear with confidence, especially if you’re a woman who doesn’t like her upper arms exposed.

I decided to pair this dress with a hot tassled jacket from a previous collection at Lane Bryant. As the weather is quite unpredictable in London and we aren’t really experiencing a typical London summer, the need for layers is still very much here. Having said that I wanted to wear some heels and I thought the best thing would be to pick out a pair of boots. I of course decided to wear my Vanity Boots from Hotter.

My rule when playing with monochrome looks is to wear a sharp bright red lipstick. I love red lipstick, especially seeing as it makes my teeth look so white lol. I also love going with bright red lips when I play around with my vintage looks or simple black and white outfits. My current lippy of choice is ‘Forgive My Sin’ by L’Oreal Paris. I love the deepness of the red and what’s more, it lasts for hours and keeps your lips really hydrated and smooth, unlike a lot of other options on the market.

When it comes to fashion I like breaking the rules. You know what I always says. Wear what makes you feel fabulous!
