Summertime Gingham

When the sun comes out people rush to the local park, scowl websites looking for the best holiday deals and organise a barbecue for their friends. In my case when the sun shines my fashion senses become inspired. Summer is my favourite time of year. My mood lifts and I get to wear some of my favourite styles. During the colder months of the year you find yourself dressing to avoid catching colds or the flu. In the summertime it’s easier to have fun with your clothes as these problems no longer come into play. I never tire of wearing Gingham in the summer and have a few items with the print.

I find that gingham is a print that suits everyone who wears it! Young or old, everyone seems to look good in it.  I see it splashed across a series of different styles and in a wide variety of colours. When Studio8 contacted me and asked if I would like to review something I had to try out this Alice Gingham dress. Wrap dresses are so comfortable and work with women of all shapes, big or small busted. What drew me to this one, other than the gingham are the three quarter length sleeves. I find if a dress has elbow sleeves or longer they can be worn in many places and no longer require the need for a jacket or shrug.

I’m wearing this dress in a size 26. The fabric has very little stretch so if like me you have larger biceps or a big bust you may wish to up-size. The ties are really long and there is a loop at the side of the dress where you can cross the fabric over your front and fasten it securely. Some wrap dresses aren’t designed this way and you find yourself constantly needing to readjust your clothes. I felt free and secure when wearing this one. As you can see the cut gave me a deep cleavage which is OK. I always find that if a dress has a deep cleavage, a midi or maxi length creates a nice balance. This dress is a comfortable fit and the colour way allows you to match it with any accessories or shoes.

When I took these photos I wanted to keep things really simple. I find that with some items it’s best to let the clothes do the talking for you. I wore a simple pair of t-bar heels from a previous Hotter collection in a champagne nude colour. Makeup isn’t something I tend to experiment much with so I kept it to my usual style. Hair up and my signature hoop earrings in and I was ready and set with my look.

It’s important to feel confident and comfortable in what you wear. If there is a print you love play it safe and stick with it!
